CAIRN JUDGE WELSH KC 08

Cairn Terriers

I was delighted with the entry which was third top in group. I had some really promising youngsters in both sexes. Although I was happy with both line-ups, it is quite evident that there is quite a gulf in quality between the dogs & bitches. The negatives were too many dogs were overweight, which affected movement & again eye colour & shape. I appreciate the Standard does not give a shape, but I have always understood that it should be almond shaped, that’s how Peggy Wilson explained it to me, & not round & beady. Temperaments were super & presentation first class.

PD (5,1a)

1 King & Leighton’s Carradine May Be The Moon at Harkinleigh, nice head & expression, level topline, good tailset & in good coat, moved fairly well on a loose lead, needs to lose a bit of weigh, best balance in this class;

2 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Colour Code, very much a baby, wheaten, good head & expression, nice neck & shoulders, topline & tailset, moved well once settled, hope he grows on;

3 Thomas’ Tycando Starman.

JD (5,2)

1 Pollock’s Larchlea Licence To Thrill at Stanedykes, this young r/b certainly ticked all the boxes for me, I found his head & expression breathtaking, at 15 months he is obviously maturing, but he is so well constructed when he moves it is effortless. Good depth & spring of rib, topline level with tail on top, super coated & was shown to perfection. He screams type & looks very inch the Standard. CC & BOB;

2 Moseley & Innett’s Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx, smashing youngster, so well put together, lovely head & expression, super mouth, excellent neck & shoulder, good legs & feet, in super coat & his presentation was spot on, moved around the ring with drive, must have a bright future. RCC;

3 Barney’s Alfie Lunar Hopper.

ND (3,1)

1 Peers’ Tweedisle Guy Mannering, brindle of nice type, lovely head, eye & ear placements, level topline & good tailset, well presented. Would like a bit more width across the chest & more drive from behind;

2 A Lunar Hopper, very much a baby, attending his first show, typy head, good mouth, wicked personality & obviously gives his owner a hard time, but with training & patience could be a fun dog to show.

PGD (5,1)

1 Waugh’s Tribannon Warlord, lots to like, beautiful brindle, super head & expression, good neck & shoulders, good depth & spring of rib level topline & tailset, moved with drive to be critical, would like him a shade longer in back for a more balanced picture, nice type;

2 Rhead’s Copseleaze Chesterwood Boy, liked this r/b, nice head & expression, very well put together, in good coat & very well handled. He was a bit heavy, & this affected his movement;

3 Dolan & Innett’s Glenrood Iceman.

LD (6,1) 1 Ward’s Vanajam Pop Idol, surprised to see this youngster not because he is not quality but he looks very much a baby. Wheaten rangy, needs to fill out, would like more width across the chest, lovely masculine head & expression, super topline & tailset. Quality coat & presentation was A1, moves around the ring with drive & confidence, with maturity should progress;

2 Grainger’s Devil And Disguise, red, masculine head & expression, good mouth, level topline, good tailset, good depth of spring of rib, moved well. Needs a new jacket & could lose a pound or two. Good honest dog;

3 Soper’s Uniquecottage Ring Plover.

OD (3)

1 Thomas’ Ch Raskens Romping Playboy, have long admired this brindle, super head & expression, level topline & good tailset, he is always well presented & has quality coat, he drives from the rear & covers the ground well. He lacked sparkle, nevertheless he’s out of the top drawer & will always demand a second look;

2 Hooton & Shorter’s Penticharm Prince Charming, attractive headed brindle that is well put together, very well presented, good depth & spring of rib, good topline & tailset, wish he would put more into his showing;

3 Peers’ Tweedisle Piper Boy.

MPB (5,1)

Nice class.

1 Roberts’ Cannwood Danish Affair, wheaten, lovely head, eye & good mouth, super neck & clean shoulders, balanced outline, moves very well for one so young, in good coat of correct texture. BP with a bit to spare;

2 Ward’s Vanajam Disco Diva, first time out for this baby, but she did very well, sweet head & expression, nice shape, moved very well & showed all out with maturity, could become a real prospect;

3 Confue’s Amjofra Welcome And To La La Land.

PB (3,1)

1 Felters & Rumen’s Landbuck Jazz Hands, wheaten, good head, cheeky expression, good neck & shoulders, good coat & excellent condition, moved well, good legs & feet;

2 Innett & Harrison’s Noncom Minnie The Minx at Carradine, lovely head & expression, obviously likes her food & in need of a new jacket, she covers the ground well & is of a nice type.

JB (4)

1 Dolan’s Glenrood Mystic Topaz, wh/br, nice type of Cairn, although short of coat, she was hiding nothing, moves well, attractive head & expression, level topline, tail on top, showed all out;

2 Chambers & Exton’s Cairngrove Clever Clog, brindle, lovely head & expression, carrying too much weight which affected her front movement, good depth & spring of rib, strong quarters, good coat & well presented;

3 Mear’s Glenmear Money Penny.

NB (4,1)

1 Peers’ Tweedisle Dolly Daydream, lovely head & expression, good front, depth & spring of rib, moved very well with drive, in full coat of good quality, lovely type;

2 Soper’s Elitecharm Only Girl, this young lady can certainly move, good legs & feet, very showy, nice head & expression, pleasing outline, good quality coat & well presented, closing up to 1;

3 Davey’s Bearnburh Tigress.

GB (5,1)

1 Waugh’s Tribannon Arabella, nice head & expression, good mouth & very sound, nice type, maturing well;

2 Williams’ Curtisey Joint Venture, r/b of nice type, good head, moves well, but needs to lose weight. Good legs & feet, shows well;

3 Dolan’s Glenrood Forever Popsy.

PGB (6)

1 Weinberger’s Correnie Crazy For You, beautiful head with varmity expression, balanced throughout, good neck & shoulders, straight front, level topline, good depth & spring of rib, in super coat & condition, very free in movement on her toes & showed all out. Thought in the challenge for BOB they made a good looking pair. CC;

2 Munday’s Birselaw Firebird at Stradivarius, r/b, lovely head & expression, in good coat & well presented, not much wrong with this young lady just has to mature, moves well on a loose lead. Promising, should start to pick up top awards soon;

3 Moseley’s Carradine Sapphire at Spanwyche.

LB (9,1)

1 Thompson’s Castlelinie Tiger Lily, lovely type of Cairn, most of my comments on Crazy For You apply here, there was little to separate these two quality bitches. Little more coat would complete the picture. RCC & hope she progresses to her title which she thoroughly deserves;

2 Waugh’s Razzle Dazzle Glory at Tribannon, quality Cairn, in full coat, lovely head & expression, very well balanced, moves well, lots to like;

3 Bambridge’s Carradine Crème Brulee for Luvemal.

OB (5,2)

1 Hewitt’s Correnie Jazz Talk at Littleacorn, very well put together, liked her head, type shape & movement, beautifully presented, moves & shows very well, not much wrong;

2 Lindbore & Nostrand’s Su Ch Rasken’s Rich Grey Lark, brindle, slightly bigger all round than Jazztalk, lots to like & presented to perfection, she could lose some weight to advantage, handled very well;

3 Osborne’s Tweslam Izzy Wizzy Gets Bizzy.
