CAIRN CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 08 Judge: Mr Kevin Holmes CAIRN JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 08 Cairn Terriers I know we are going through difficult times but the overall lack of quality, especially in males & the low number of entries, must be a serious concern for the breed. MPD (4,1a) 1 Downie & Tate’s Jaeva Face The Music, quality 8 months grey, excellent type, in good coat, lovely head, good stop, clean shoulders, straight front, close behind, real showman & a good prospect, well handled & presented; 2 Matthews’ Sharpamatt Prince Of Joy, 7 months wheaten, lacking the confidence of 1. Well furnished masculine head, good coat & presentation, sound rear movement, good bend of stifle. Needs to settle in front movement; 3 Peers’ Tweedisle Stargazer. PD (3) Two nice youngsters. 1 Thomas’ Tycadno Starman, 10 months wheaten, mature for age, dark mask, excellent showman, good head, masculine all through, good topline & tailset, excellent presentation & quality coat, moved with drive & straight front; 2 Inett & Harrison’s Noncom Inett Tu Winnit with Carradine, liked him for size, sound & moved well. Wheaten, dark mask, good coat & presentation. Lost out on showmanship to 1; 3 Marshall’s Strathgarten Crackerjack. JD (2) Littermate wheatens. 1 King & Leighton’s Carradine Night Listener at Harkinleigh, very good type, in excellent coat, expressive head, plenty big enough, sound mover. Preferred him on presentation & showmanship; 2 King & Leighton’s Carradine May Be The Moon at Harkinleigh, liked for size, same nice head as his brother, moved well. Could have been tidier & not as confident as 1. GD (1) 1 Mara’s Tanteazle Tailor Cut, dark grey, plenty big enough, profuse wavy coat, strong head. Needs trimming. Showed all out, OK in front, moving close behind. PGD (2,1) 1 Smee’s Malmay King Of The Road, grey, in excellent coat & well presented, mature & finished for his age, real showman, excellent head, liked his size, good neck & shoulders, sound topline, good balance & very sound mover. LD (5) 1 Cameron’s Stryveling Robb Ruadh, fits the Standard so well, agile, alert & workmanlike, red, in excellent coat & presentation, very good head, showed so well, ultra sound mover, straight front, good reach, parallel hocks, easy free flowing driving action. RCC; 2 Ward’s Vanajam Pop Idol, liked him so much for type, excellent harsh cream coat, lovely head, good tailset, dark eye, sound mover & showed all out. For me needed more coat to complete the picture; 3 Dolan & Inett’s Glenrood Ice Man. OD (2) 1 Hooton, Shorter & Nuttall’s Penticharm Prince Charming, mature & finished wh/br, in lovely coat & presentation, looked the part, excellent balanced head & outline, good topline & tailset, never stopped showing & moved so well. Stood out in this male entry. I gather this is the kennel’s 34th champion. CC; 2 Brown’s Cruzo Gold Charmer, 5 years wheaten, in good coat & presentation, excellent type, very good head, good bend of stifle, moved well. MPB (7,2) Nice class. 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Button It, quality, impressive 6 months wheaten, lovely coat, feminine, good balance, sound mover. Gave her handler a hard time. Sound steady mover, showed very well, very nice prospect. BP; 2 Ward’s Vanajam Disco Diva, aptly named, certainly personality plus, out & out showgirl. Lacking maturity of 1. Excellent coat, lovely head & sound mover, has all the essentials. Just needs time; 3 Cameron’s Stryveling Seun Sealbhach. PB (5,1) 1 Burgin’s Noncom Miss Hat He Chewed, 10 months, very feminine grey, excellent type, in good coat, very good head, mature for age, good balance & sound on the move, showed well; 2 Ward’s Vanajam Leading Lady, littermate to 2 in previous class. Just 6 months, bigger than his sister, same remarks, sound, lovely harsh cream coat, good head, clean neck & shoulder, moved well. Just not maturity of 1; 3 Powell’s Noncom Mad Madam Mimm at Rosenez. JB (3,2) 1 Soper’s Elitecharm Only Girl, alone but deserved her placing. Very feminine, nice sized wheaten, dark mask. Coat could be harsher. Dark eye, good well carried ears, good bite, feminine expressive head, good topline, tailset, well sprung rib & moved OK. GB (2) Two very nice bitches. 1 Shaw’s Honeyhall Hide’N Seek, beautiful headed cream, just out of junior, feminine, sound, balanced, in excellent coat, showed all out, very sound mover, good neck, clean shoulder, sound topline, close up in the challenge. Just needs more maturity; 2 Dolan’s Glenrood Forever Popsy, well balanced wheaten. Just preferred head of 1. Lovely size, feminine, in excellent coat & presentation, sound mover. PGB (8,1) Quality class of nice bitches, splitting hairs. 1 Munday’s Birselaw Firebird of Stradivarius, immediately appealed on the table & in no way disappointed on the move, utterly & totally feminine, balanced throughout, super head & expression, dark mask, clean neck & shoulder, sound topline, oozing type, free & powerful mover. CC & BOB: 2 Weinberger’s Correnie Crazy For You, quality wh/br, certainly looked the part, in excellent coat & presentation, same sire as 1. Excellent bitch, beautiful head, sound confident mover who showed extremely well. A very close decision; 3 Thompson’s Castleline Bonnie. LB (9,2) More lovely bitches. 1 Firth, Jones & Firth’s Cairngold Avin A Paddy, dark grey, utterly feminine, very clean outline, correct size, quality harsh coat, good head, clean neck & shoulder, good tailset, easy free movement with plenty of drive, good straight front, showed all out & never put a foot wrong. RCC; 2 Robinson’s Cruzo Cinderella, quality grey of excellent type, sound, balanced throughout, in lovely coat & well presented, liked her very much & a difficult decision; 3 Thompson’s Castleline Tiger Lily. OB (5) 1 Shaw’s Honeyhall Headstrong, quality dark grey of excellent type, liked her as a puppy & still appeals for size, type & her extrovert personality, in excellent coat, beautiful head, moved & showed well; 2 Lindborg & Nordstrand’s Ch Rasken’s Rich Grey Lark, dark grey, bigger cast but remains feminine, in lovely coat & presented to perfection, moved & showed well; 3 Harrison, Inett & Clayton’s Misse Carradine Magic Star.
