CAIRN DARLINGTON 08 Judge: Mrs Shirley V Watson CAIRN JUDGE DARLINGTON 08 Cairn Terriers I would like to thank the exhibitors for braving the very muddy conditions, the grass in the ring made it difficult to assess movement, some showed & moved better than others. Some exhibits were short in upper arm, & light in bone. Also some overweight. VD (1) 1 Wall’s Ch Shearwater Cae de Sonhas, in excellent condition for 10 years of age, still moves very well. MPD (2) 1 Downie & Tate’s Jaeva Face The Music, pleasing head, straight front, nice length of neck, level topline with correct tailset, at 8 months he is still developing, has excellent showmanship; 2 Harland’s Cannwood Zipper at Thackeston, same age as 1 but bigger all round, nice head, good coat. PD (3) 1 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Colour Code, quality cream, lovely head, eye & ears, lovely teeth. Still requires more furnishings. Very good legs & feet, level topline, good rear angulation, moved & showed well, close decision for BP; 2 Marshall’s Strathgarten Crackerjack, pleasing red, attractive head & expression, level topline. Short of coat today. Showed OK when settled; 3 Percy’s Landbuck Colour Scheme. JD (2) 1 Templeton’s Larchlea Time To Entertain, quality grey, beautiful head, small ears, well defined stop, lovely big teeth with correct bite, level topline, good forehand, nice bone & substance, moved & showed well. RCC & son of CC winner; 2 Newton’s Strathinver Such A Star, r/b, a very good moving dog with well sprung ribs, strong muscular quarters, harsh coat, showed well. PGD (2) 1 Pollock’s Larchlea Licence To Thrill at Stanedykes, quality well balanced r/br, masculine head, big teeth, good bone & substance, has a lot of energy. Coat on the blow. Moved & showed well; 2 Mara’s Tanteazle Tailor Cut, dark brindle, pleasing head, level topline, good quarters, well sprung ribs, bigger than 1, has new coat coming through which is difficult to trim with the texture being very wiry but well handled. LD (3,1) 1 Short’s Glenchess All In The Stars, well balanced with pleasing head, level back, good bend of stifle, nice depth of brisket, well developed quarters, showed well; 2 Burgin’s Nutshki Dark Knight for Noncom, dark brindle. Not the head & expression of 1. Good overall balance & substance showed well. OD (3,1) 1 Catto’s Ch Birselaw Daydream Believer, quality wheaten with an excellent head, lovely pigmentation around eyes, well defined stop with nice width between correctly placed ears, overall balance & size correct for the Standard, in best correct length of coat, moved & showed well. CC & BOB; 2 Percy’s Winnetta Jimmy Mack, quality dark brindle, very masculine head, well furnished, level topline, good bone, nice front legs & feet, rear angulation well muscled. Short of body coat. MPB (4) 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Button It, promising light red, very nice head & expression, liked her overall balance, lovely legs & feet, moved well fore & aft, full of confidence; 2 Catto’s Birselaw Playgirl, very feminine puppy. Not as developed in head as 1. Lovely reach of neck, level topline, looked well in profile. Front action needs to settle. Showed well; 3 Newton’s Strathinver Sheenagh. PB (5,1) 1 Wren’s Larchlea Spirit In The Sky, attractive puppy with pleasing head, good reach of neck, level topline, correct tailset, moved & showed well; 2 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Jazz Hands, very close decision to 1, very pretty & feminine, correct front assembly, nice legs & feet, moved well when settled; 3 Burgin’s Noncom Miss Hat He Chewed. JB (3) 1 Wren’s Larchlea Light My Fire, quality wh/br with a lovely head & ears, level topline, good bend of stifle, nicely balanced bitch, considered for RCC, moved better in challenge; 2 Chambers & Exton’s Cairngrove Clever Clogs, attractive grey with good head, nice reach of neck & level back, well developed quarters, showed well; 3 Hawkes’ Maridale Monopoly. PGB (8,1) 1 Munday’s Birselaw Firebird of Stradivarius, quality wheaten, lovely head & ears with a nice width of skull, good stop, level back of medium length, correct coat of good length, looked well in profile, moved & showed well. CC; 2 Shaw’s Honeyhall Hide’N Seek, quality wheaten with a most beautiful head & expression, lovely legs & feet, topline level, showed well; 3 Hawkes’ Maridale Space Odyssey. LB (7,2) Three very nice bitches. 1 Firth & Jones’ Cairngold Avin A Paddy, quality young bitch, well balanced, nice forehand & reach of neck on to a level topline, she is a nice size, moved & showed well in the challenge, looked very well in profile. RCC; 2 Short’s Glenchess Cut The Mustard, quality red with a lovely head, nice bone, legs & feet. Bigger than 1 but moved & showed very well; 3 Clarke’s Conundrum Sweeter For Me for Lentrica. OB (3,1) 1 Shaw’s Honeyhall Headstrong, dark brindle, well balanced head, straight front, good bone, legs, feet & nice quarters. Changing coat. Moved OK; 2 Burgin’s Curtisey Foreign Affair at Carradine, dark brindle, nice type. Preferred head of 1. Texture of coat OK but on the short side. Moved OK. SHIRLEY V WATSON
