MANCHESTER MIDLAND COUNTIES 08 Judge(s) Zena Thorn-Andrews DCC CH BROOKSTREAM MARCUS BANKS JW ShCM (MR N H & MRS L, MR W H NORRIS) Manchester Terriers PD (3) 1 Leigh’s Sophyla Sorceror of Mansiya, good for size & nice quality, beautiful deep tan with correct markings, pencillings & thumbmarks, pleasing long wedge shaped head & muzzle. Ears should be set higher on skull. OK in body & topline, neat, impressive quarters, elegant, sound puppy with lots to like about him. BP; 2 Dale’s Megellan Rumble in Rattustrap, similar in head, broad jaws, needs a higher set of ears. OK in front, well muscled, gorgeous firm, glossy coat. Movement a bit tucked under just yet but should be OK when he relaxes a little more; 3 Holmes’ Egloshayle Black Carlyn. JD (1) 1 Noden’s Lantaka Hector, good size & type, a little nervy, paddles in front & cow hocked going away. Super extension in side gait, deep enough in chest, correct topline & tailset, good coat & colour. PGD (4) 1 Jeynes’ Browdel Black Muskateer, too big but an easy winner, elegant & compact in body, smooth skull, well filled in beneath the eyes, ears could be set higher & more over the eye. Good neck, well boned, tidy oval feet, lovely coat & colour. Fair mover but tail carriage too high; 2 Coleclough’s Digelsa Dark Druid, better size but very flat in topline & needs more rear angulation, OK in front. Good head & neck, nicely carried back ribbing & OK in underline, reasonable mover; 3 L Hector. LD (3) 1 Pyne’s Newtonian Black Rod, good size & an elegant dog, liked his head, tight lips, fairly small ears, elegant neck, correct deep yet fairly narrow front, good legs & feet, sweeping bodylines when standing but he is a little too square over croup on the move. Sound rear, nicely muscled & super colour. RCC; 2 Morris’ Calastoa Amber Nectar, if he were two inches smaller he would be a superstar. The extra size, bone & sturdiness just takes away the elegance of the breed. He certainly has super quarters & correct topline, short tail, good coat & colour, excellent mover all round. Just too much of him; 3 Thurlow’s Westwytch Tourmaline Taboo at Ekenwyne. OD (5,1a) Nice class. 1 Norris’ Ch Brookstream Marcus Banks, good size, packed with muscle which was lovely to feel, pleasing long flat skull, well filled under the eyes. OK in front, but is a little stiff in front movement. Correct body topline, arched loin & croup slope, excellent quarters, good smooth close coat of super colour & depth of tan. CC & BOB; 2 Green’s Ch Newtonian Slim Shady, slightly bigger dog, equally beautifully turned out, super head, ears a little heavy. Good front, well bodied & nicely tucked up. Stands too far down on his pads on rear legs. Moved quite well; 3 Robinson’s Churnet Chadwick. PB (9) Lovely class. 1 Churms’ Digelsa Dream Maker of Wystry, just 6 months but thought she was mature for her age. Ideal size & bone, lovely head, elegant, compact body, sound mover & she keeps a correct topline in side action, pretty good ears too; 2 Simpson’s Leircote Rosie O’Grady, slightly bigger girl, very nicely put together, tail carried very high but she is sound & free moving. Good legs & firm thick feet, elegant outline, quality bitch; 3 Eva’s Sophyla Sally. JB (7) 1 L Rosie O’Grady; 2 Wicker’s Mimbre Solitaire, good size, deep enough in chest & well arched over the loin, good forechest & shape to upper arm, pleasing flat skull, neat ears set high, fair mover all round, shoulders set & a mite wide apart at the withers. Good rich tan & fine coat condition; 3 Brown’s Tyburn Lara. PGB (5,2) 1 Dunford & Akrigg’s Quixol Bret April, very true, sound & well muscled, pleasing flat skull, broad jaws. Ears poor & her topline too flat. Super muscle & well marked; 2 Smith’s Mansiya Midnight Graceful, better in topline but she is overweight & this is affecting her outline & movement. Sure she would look a lot better with a few pounds off. LB (6) 1 Palmer’s Egloshayle Lady Mauser, lovely size & type, super high set ears set well up on skull, narrow deep front. Has lost a bit of hair under her neck. Very elegant, compact body, neat quarters, good markings & thumbprints, moved out nicely. RCC; 2 Morris’ Brookstream Flower Fairy at Calastoa, too big for a bitch, but in better coat than 1. Showed & handled very well, moved free & balanced holding herself together on the move, lovely type & she does have a lot of quality; 3 Brown & Arundel’s Browdel Beatrix Potter. OB (3,2) 1 Oxley’s Ch Digelsa Double Entendre, on her own but well worthy of more competition, stylish, very fit & beautifully turned out. Pleasing flat & narrow skull, boned jaws, neat ears which could be touch higher set. Moved OK & keeps a nicely balanced outline, in fine coat & body condition. The two of them in for BOB made a fine sight. ZENA THORN-ANDREWS
