MANCHESTER JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 08

Manchester Terriers

I was disappointed that some of my favourites did not perform & seemed jaded & tired, & one with a most beautiful head did not move out correctly & paced, skipped & hopped & had to pay the price. Faults creeping in are: the big round cat foot, the roach half way down the back which then slopes down to the tail, gay tails, & very low set ears which stick out like cab doors, it spoils the alert terrier expression & if the eye is a lighter shade it does not say MT to me. Straight movement with drive was hard to find. Plus points are: teeth are excellent & so is temperament, they all looked fit & well & most enjoyed their day, coats are better only a few thin on the chest, markings are fine.

PD (4,1a)

1 Leigh’s Sophyla Sorcerer of Mansiya, at 6 months he looks very promising, moves out well, good length of head, dark eye with a good mouth, ears still a bit wayward, correct short tail on a compact body with good bone, excellent temperament. BP, one to watch. Sadly he missed the group;

2 Dale’s Megellan Rumble in Rattustrap, 6 months of correct size but not as much bone as 1 or quite the length of head, not moving as steady & his markings are darker but another promising happy pup with a very good temperament;

3 Wood’s Westwych Zodiac Zoom.

JD (2,1)

1 Mercer’s Faolan Sirius, good type, nice size, good dark eye & a short tail but his tan is muddy, to show off his finer points he needs some more ring training. He rarely moved properly & insisted in pacing at all speeds.

PGD (4)

1 Colelough’s Digelsa Dark Druid, good for size, compact with enough bone, good tan & a nice head. Would have liked a higher earset. Moved well, nice outline;

2 St Clair’s Mimbre First Mate, nice type, compact, but not as much bone as 1. Had better earset. Nice short tail. Did not move as well 1;

3 Wallace’s Amyandas Anchor Man.

LD (4,1)

1 Braybrook’s Gloryline Sir Thomas More, mature dog of good type, good outline with bone without being coarse & has the semi-hare foot, very strong wedge head, dark eyes, good earset & length of neck, compact body with deep chest, slight rise over loins to a well placed tail, correctly held & very well muscled on the backend, moved out with style & strength & never flagged, he looked all dog & has a super temperament, I was more than happy to award him his third CC & BOB;

2 Pyne’s Newtonian Black Rod, very good for type, size & balance with good tan, good head & outline with correct rise over the loins & good tuck-up, he moved well but was carrying his tail too proudly & stood he was down on his pasterns, but overall a very nice dog with lots to like;

3 Boggis’ Eaglespur Primetime at Laurenbill.

OD (7)

1 Norris’ Ch Brookstream Marcus Banks, very good type & elegant, good size & colour, lovely outline, classic wedge head with dark eyes & super mouth, neck flows into a compact body with good tailset correctly carried, moved & showed well in this class but just faded in the challenge. RCC, a worthy ch;

2 Green’s Newtonian Slim Shady, a very close decision, this is all dog, he is bigger & stronger than 1 but is all quality, cracking head with the best dark almond eyes in MTs, super correct earset. To separate them was splitting hairs, I preferred 1’s tailset & better tan;

3 Broxup’s Ch Digelsa Dig Deep at Brockenella.

VB (1) A

PB (7,1)

1 Norris’ Brookstream Brooklyn, 11 month, strong mature pup of good type with plenty of bone & good tan, strong classic head, well set ears & a dark eye, good length of neck & slight rise over loins ending in good tail set, nice tuck-up, moved out strongly here but did not go so well for BP;

2 O’Neill’s Megellan Thunder Bird, 6 months, very much a baby of a smaller type but promising, moved out well & is compact & elegant, well set ears on a sweet head, just enough bone at this stage, will watch to see how she matures;

3 Thurlow’s Brenandi Genteel Gypsy at Erkenwyne.

JB

1 Knight’s Talanors Tomorrows Dreams, very nice type, good outline, bone & tan, good wedge head with dark eyes, ears can be wayward but are well set, moved out well, is a size larger, & won this class on her quality;

2 Brown’s Tyburn Lara, correct size, of very nice compact type, has enough bone & a super short tail, her markings are muddy, but her outline is good & overall a nice bitch;

3 De Lavis’ Trafford Tyburn Lotis.

PGB (1)

1 Forshaw’s Gloryline Lady Jane Grey, nice type with good tan & markings & enough bone. A little long in the back. Good tuck-up, lovely long head & dark eye, nice length of neck, a very nice bitch. Her gay tail on the move just spoilt her.

LB (7,1)

1 Heard & McIntrye’s Calot Ozara, very nice type, not flashy, of correct size, compact with enough bone, good short well set tail, good tan & markings, nice wedge head with good earset, neck flows to a slight rise over loins & she moved really well to win here. In the challenge she did not move out as well as she had, & did show herself off. I hope her day will come, this is my type of bitch;

2 Palmer’s Egloshayle Lady Mauser, slightly smaller than 1 but has a good outline & enough bone & moves well, she is compact, has a nice tuck-up with a good short tail well set, feminine head with a good dark eye. Ear carriage not as high as 1; 3 Clifton’s Gloryline Catherine Aragon.

OB (7,1)

1 Oxley’s Ch Digelsa Double Entendre, just a bit over size but so elegant & still compact, super tan & markings & is a quality bitch to go over, lovely head, dark eyes & good earset & carriage, neck flows into a slight rise over loins, good short tail & set, nice tuck-up, deep chest. CC, her 10th, & I was told the Oxley’s 50th CC;

2 Palmer’s Ch Egloshayle Black Samphire, good quality bitch nice size, good tan & markings, moved well & steadily, nice outline, stood & moving, good length of head, dark eyes & well set ears but not held as well as 1. Nice front & tuck-up, good backend & tailset;

3 Knight’s Ch Talanors Trick N Treat.
