Scottish Breeds Canine Club 29th March 2008 Judge Ms M Hawkes DCC BOB CH THE BLACK TOUCH OF MORNINGSKY AT GLORFINDEL (IMP DEU) Judge Ms M Hawkes A good entry. The layout & size of the ring was not ideal for our long Skye Terriers & some of the dogs were clearly not comfortable with it. I was strongly reminded that each dog is judged ‘on the day’.
1 Samuel’s Skyelander Wee Man Of Storr, only just 6 months, grey, drop eared baby, very promising with everything as correct as one could wish for in a puppy of his age, strong head, good reach of neck & long & level, did take it all in his stride & showed & moved out with such great confidence. PD (3) 1 Harrison’s Knowlespring Jailhouse Roc for Trenson, very promising youngster, in cream quality coat with good dark pigmentation on ears, strong head with good expression & correct mouth, very good front & forechest with nice length of neck, level back, good rear angulation & tailset, a long & low puppy, who showed & moved with great enthusiasm & very much deserved his BP; 3 Parker’s Glorfindel Basil Brush. PGD (3) 1 Samuel’s Glorfindel Son Of Angus, almost black dog with masculine head, powerful jaws, correct ears with good feathering & expressive eyes, very good angulation, enough neck, good length & depth of rib, strong loin & correct tailset, very well balanced, in hard condition, excellent coat in best order, moved very well & with drive; 3 Pringle’s Tsuki Outlaw Star. LD (3) 1 Macqueen’s Lynaire Mr Darcey, dark grey with strong head of good construction & well placed ears, excellent front & good reach of neck flowing into level back, good length & depth of rib & strong loin, strong hindquarters, well set on & carried tail, moved with drive, quality jacket in best order; 3 Robson’s Wellknowe Hauf Cut Hamish with Mitsui. OD (5) 1 Marshall’s Ch The Black Touch of Morningsky at Glorfindel, this dark grey impressed as soon as he entered the ring & did not disappoint, all male & powerful without coarseness, strong, well constructed head with super strong bite & excellent ears, well laid shoulder, good length of upper arm with correct angulation, long, gracefully arched neck flows into long, level back, very well ribbed & short, strong loin, well angulated hindquarters, excellent hard condition plus his construction enabled him to move soundly around the ring with free & effortless gait, expertly handled & presented with quality coat in best order to complete the picture. CC & BOB; JB (2) 1 Garland-Collins’ Bhuidh Motholeli, very promising, dark grey youngster, lovely, feminine head with expressive eyes, strong bite & well fringed ears, good angulation fore & aft, decent neck & long, level back with good rib to loin ratio, good tailset & carriage & sound movement, well handled & presented in quality coat of good length for age; 2 Neilson’s Celticbridge Shady Lady, still somewhat sparse cream coat of good texture & colour, head of fairly good construction & strong muzzle. Ears need to firm up. Long & level back. Body & rib need to develop. NB (1) 1 Celticbridge Shady Lady. PGB (3) 1 Breeze’s Salena Secret Passion, this girl filled my eye with delight, beautiful pale grey with very dark points, well constructed feminine head with correct strong mouth & a lovely expression, very good front & well laid shoulder, the long, elegant neck flows gracefully into long, level back, excellent rib, loin & hindquarters & well balanced throughout, moved around the ring with such easy & effortless stride, expertly handled & presented in magnificent jacket, she really ticked the boxes & looked the picture. CC, her first; 2 Macqueen’s Azrakhan Capercaillie, another quality bitch with a most pleasing outline & super head with strong bite, beautiful eyes & generous furnishings, good quarters, reachy neck fitting well into long, level back, decent rib & good strength in loin, excellent flowing coat presented in best order, very well handled. Not quite so easy on the move & did not put in all effort; 3 Johnson’s Gallondean Moonbow over Skykim. LB (4,2) 1 Innes’ Knowlespring Keepsake with Traistbydand, highly attractive bitch in medium grey with nice dark points, strong yet very feminine head, well constructed with correct powerful bite, very good front, lovely reachy neck & long, level back with excellent rib to loin ratio, well angulated hind with hard muscletone offering plenty of drive, very well handled, in superb quality jacket & strong overall condition, her lovely outline & excellent fluid movement secured RCC; 2 Robson’s Lynaire Shes No Lady with Mitsui, black bitch of nice length & proportion, very feminine head, enough neck & long, level back.
