Welsh Kennel Club 2008 SKYE JUDGE WELSH KC 08 Skye Terriers The weather prevented outdoor judging. My top winners were all full of quality & soundness & represented the breed well; breeders need to be especially aware of slack toplines & poor fronts which continue to spoil some otherwise very nice specimens. PD (1) 1 Samuel’s Skylander Wee Man of Storr, very nice pale silver drop ear dog, correct head, good length, sound & well made, should trouble the top as he matures, moved well & happy to do his job. BP. JD (1) Withheld. PGD (3) 1 King’s Celticbridge Moonshine, well presented, has the essentials but needs to tighten up in front. Moved well but lacks the glamour of others; 2 Heeps’ Azrakhan Mr Buttons, very striking black with oodles of coat, have admired this youngster from a puppy, however he has grown to a size & is now not compatible with the Standard; 3 Hawkes & Mason’s Maridale Blueys Beach. LD (4,2) 1 Grainger’s Perryland’s Ambassador, sound, well presented cream. Would like to see more pigmentation around his face & ears. Well constructed but fails to hold topline at times; 2 Heeps’ Azrakhan Mr Buttons. OD (6) 1 Woodhead’s Knowlespring Sunday Best, lovely young dog in top condition, well coated, good front very sound in movement, happy outlook on the move, really enjoying his day out. CC & BOB, will watch his future with interest; 2 Breeze’s Ch Gumshoe A Touch Of Frost by Selena, very nice, elegant dog put down as always to perfection, moved well has all the assets to make him a worthy ch. Not quite the substance of 1, a very close decision. A worthy RCC; 3 Barraclugh’s Ch Skyeotts Midnight Majesty at Wemoway. PB (1) 1 Grant’s Skyelander Midnight Dream, litter sister to PD winner, enjoying her first show, very nice length & soundness, will watch this one for the future. JB (2) 1 King’s Celticbridge Spring Magic, sound cream, good tight front. Coat needs to mature & would ideally like to see more pigmentation. Moved well; 2 White’s Knowlespring You’re Wicked by Gumshoe, pretty eyecatching cream. Longer than 1. Coat coming on well. Just failing to hold topline at times, ring experience may help. PGB (4,1) 1 Hawkes’ Maridale Bella Fiore, nice silver plenty of length, well constructed, lovely outline but let herself down in the challenge when reluctant to show her paces; 2 Miller’s Feorlig Take Me Or Leave Me, well presented as always from this kennel, good front, moved well. Not scoring as high in breed points as 1; 3 Lawler’s Feorlig Timeless Whisper. LB (2,1) 1 Miller’s Feorlig Something Wicked, extremely nice to go over, very good front, well in proportion, moved well. Would have troubled for BOB if coat had been more complete. CC, her third CC in a short space of time; 2 Proud’s Knowlespring Guess Who at Dolphaz, lovely sound cream bitch, good pigmentation, enjoying her day out, good tight front, has all the attributes the Standard asks for. RCC; 3 Evans’ Perfect Princess. OB (7,3) 1 Woodhead’s Knowlespring She Knows, lovely sound cream, excellent front, length good proportion, moved soundly. Unfortunately was unable to maintain a steady topline in the challenge otherwise would have seriously troubled the top; 2 Breeze’s Selena Secret Passion, another very nice specimen from this kennel. Finer in build than I would like & some exaggeration in neck length, would like to see her when she has bodied up more; 3 Bryden’s Acheo Bidey In. JACKI VAUGHAN JONES
