Skye Terriers This was a very pleasant way to celebrate 30 years in the breed. Temperaments were very good but a lot of exhibits did not have any body weight. People should remember that this is a slow maturing breed, I was a little disappointed to find that the average age of the exhibits was just over two years hence the lack of maturity in most. Several exhibits had only been ‘top dressed’ presentation is one thing but you must get right down & get all the dead hair out, showing with knots is unacceptable. PD (1) 1 Samuel’s Skyelander Wee Man of Storr, low to ground, would be level if handler would stop over-stretching, no need as has plenty of length, ear placement not for me, needs to tighten up. JD (3) 1 Harrison’s Knowlespring Jail House Rock for Trenson, cream with good foreface, reach of neck, shoulders possibly a little long in loin but excellent movement. Another handler overstretching, ruining what could be a lovely outline; 2 Parker’s Glorfindel Basil Brush, could easily change places with 1 on another day, attractive silver, just not quite as free moving as 1; 3 Woodhead’s Knowlespring T’ Catch A Thief. PGD (6,2a) 1 Pringle’s Tsuki Outlaw Star, dark silver, slightly smaller type than I normally go for but all the same a good quality dog, pleasure to go over, all in proportion, good eye, correct ears, good shoulders, moved out well; 2 King’s Celticbridge Moonshine, cream, not as masculine in head as 1 but long & level with excellent movement in general. Both just need time; 3 K T’ Catch A Thief. LD (3) 1 Grainger’s Perrylands Ambassador, eyecatching mature cream dog, good masculine head with well set & fringed ears, good neck, well set shoulders, holding his topline & excellent movement. CC & BOB, made the cut in the group; 2 Barrass’ Gallondean Moonlite Shadow, dark silver, just lost out on maturity to 1. Moved well, one to watch in the future. RCC; 3 Samuel’s Glorfindel Song Of Angus. OD (4) 1 Marshall’s Ch The Black Touch of Morningsky at Glorfindel, so sorry the heat got to him as thought this would be my CC winner when he walked in, but blew it by not moving & no enthusiasm. Lovely mature dog, well worth his ch, good masculine dog with lovely overall construction; 2 Breeze’s Ch Gumshoe A Touch Of Frost by Salena, nice type but carrying no bodyweight, not as masculine in head & preferred construction of 1; 3 Evans’ Squire Tom. PB (0). JB (5) 1 King’s Celticbridge Spring Magic, cream bitch, long, low & level. Just needs to mature, first three in this class could easily change places as all very feminine bitches, just needing time; 2 Viles’ Juniper Girl, just a little less mature than 1; 3 Marshall’s Glorfindel Betty Boop. PGB (6,1) 1 Turnbull’s Royal Wirenth, feminine silver, very honest type, nothing exaggerated, moving well; 2 Olding & Munroe’s Lady Orinith of Papplewick, silver, needs to body up; 3 King’s Celticbridge Stormy Waters. LB (4,1) 1 Curtis’ Tsuki Solastar of Brakemill, cream, good head with foreface feminine, in good coat, holding topline, moved well. Pushed hard for CC. RCC; 2 Miller’s Feorlig Something Wicked, dark silver, lacking the foreface of 1 but the rest was correct & pleasant to go over; 3 Evans’ Perfect Princess. OB (7,1) 1 Chappell & Stephenson’s Timeless Twilight of Morningsky at Mariquita, mature dark silver, absolutely lovely to go over, actually using her ears & moving well. CC; 2 Breeze’s Salena Secret Passion, light silver, very attractive. Just needs some rounding off to complete the picture but has plenty of time; 3 Grainger’s Ch Perrylands Savanna.
