Judge Mr J Horswell

We were rather late getting started & with two breeds to follow I was conscious of the need to get on with the job. It was great to be among the Wheatens again, pleasing to see them all have typical temperaments, happy with a sense of fun.
They just love to play you up at the wrong time.
Obviously the entries at SKC are never representative of the breed at any one time. I thought those at the show were all of a good standard, however two faults concerned me. Firstly mouths, I realise that they can often change in later life but the number & frequency in youngsters was a worry. A big black nose is very much a breed feature, enhanced when there are also dark eye rims. Pigment in too many was poor, butterfly noses are just not typical. Coats on the whole were correct.

PD (2)

Two very promising puppies.
1 Bott’s Whitevale Prince Of Thieves, 9 months & had edge on body, colour needs to clear. Super head of ideal balance, correct neck, good shoulders, correct neck, good shoulders, short loin, firm topline, OK on move. BP;

2 Noble’s Pippajam One And Only, can broaden in skull, otherwise good head. Lengthy neck, decent front, correct length back. Tail a fraction low set. Correct coat.

JD (2,1a)

1 Taylor’s Keridown Goodness Gracious, nice type dog, correct proportions, big black nose. Eye rims could be darker. Strong neck, firm topline, short coupled, true mover, correct coat texture.

PGD (0).

LD (3)

1 Bristow’s Lilwaukee Leroy Brown for Auard, good type dog, correct coat, scores in pigment over 2, pleasing head proportions, level topline, balanced angulation. Could stride out more;

2 Barrett’s Loorahsa Teenage Dirtbag, liked his outline, masculine head, firm topline, decent front, well bent stifles, better mover than

3 Taylor’s Keridown For Arts Sake.

OD (5)

1 Johnson’s Ch Fantasa Blonde Fagin, very good dog, correct coat, scores in pigment, big black nose, masculine head, good length neck, correct length back, short coupled, good rear, moves well. CC;

2 Tanner’s Ch Kariskiye Kyanite Kizmet, true moving dog, fraction short in back. Good head, not pigment of 1. Long neck, well laid shoulder, well sprung ribs, strong rear, lovely coat. RCC;

3 Hammond & Evans’ Ch Caidantes Dream Come True of Calvenace.

PB (5)

1 Bott’s Whitevale Sunshine Straw, promising pup, quite forward, very good head, super eyes & pigment, lengthy neck, balanced angulation. Topline can settle. Well set & carried tail;

2 Shearer’s Hobe Be Bop A Lula, very good head, ears a bit wayward. Coat of ideal texture. Lenghty neck. Not shoulder of 1. Level topline, strong rear. Will need time;

3 Johnson’s Garsayno Gold Echo.

JB (2)

1 Hammond & Evans’ Calvenace Boodles, feminine bitch, correct head proportions, black nose, correct eyes, although rims could be darker. Enough neck, fair front, level topline, short loin, strong rear, fairly true, pleases in profile. RCC;

2 Barrett’s Denzilly Truly Scrumptious, much to admire, coat still has time to clear. Could have a stronger underjaw. Correct nose, level back, balanced.

PGB (5)

1 Pascoe’s Middlebury Silver Lady, super shape bitch, moves well in profile if a bit untidy out & back. Super head, well pigmented. Colour can clear on head a bit. Good neck, well laid shoulder, firm topline, strong rear;

2 Hammond & Evans’ Calvenace Dixie Lips, very nice type bitch, not quite head of 1. Strong neck, balanced angulation if a little more required. Moves OK;

3 MacGregor’s Kirktonhill No Matter What.

LB (7,1)

1 Noble’s Pippajam Gold Leaf, super bitch, feminine with very good head, strong neck, well laid shoulder, grand body, correct topline, well bodied. Maybe a fraction too much angulation in rear. Low hocks;

2 Rogers’ Kizzahca Katinka, very good type bitch, coat could be of better texture slightly. Correct head, fair front, good topline, balanced;

3 Botts’ Whitevale Golden Honey.

OB (4,1)

1 Minn’s Ch/Ir Ch Snowmeadow Jellybean Jilly. CC & BOB;

2 Paterson’s Ch/Ir Ch Snowmeadow Jodie Bo Jangles, not much between 1 & 2, very similar in type, outline & movement. 1 just a bit better in pigment & coat texture. Both good heads & correct moderate angulation. Level toplines & short coupled;

3 Wright’s Ch Abbeymead Hootenanny.
