East of England Showground, Peterborough Judge(s) Mrs S M Atter BD LASTAREAN DUFEK SHCM (MRS S BROWN) Judge(s) Mrs S M Atter An interesting entry. It’s always difficult to judge your own breed when it is numerically small, & obviously I knew all the dogs entered today, having seen them at their best & worst on many previous occasions. But judging has to be on the day & to a certain extent I surprised myself with my final placings. I was pleased to see that none of the exhibits were clipped down to the skin. The Standard is quite specific about length of coat on the body. Grooming was universally of a high standard. However I was very surprised at the poor quality of many of the coats. Silky & with a metallic sheen? Only a few fitted that description. Mouths, however, while not all perfect, were better than I expected. The BOB is a dog that stands out on his day & always comes alive on the move, but can sometimes look like a sack of potatoes on the stack. Today, with a change of handler he looked great. BB & RBB are his daughters & like peas in a pod. Both move with the same drive as their sire, but I just prefer the size & outline of the winner, who has taken a long time to get her act together, but seems to have done so at last. RBD is more classic in type that any of the other three, but is just beginning to show his age slightly, & had to pay the penalty today. If the prizes had been purely for type, & not judged on overall performance as well, the winners would have been the PD (also by the BOB) & 3rd in PGB. PD 1 Oneva Eduard Malsville, super puppy, lovely for size & with a stunning head & outline, excellent coat quality, moved well in the class, but had had enough by the time it came to the dog challenge or he might have gone further. BP. JD & PGD (0). LD 1 Polede Lforluka, My heartbreak of the day. Lovely shape with a fabulous head, but he just doesn’t want to be there. Moves out well with his clever handler, but gets longer, lower & flatter as he goes around the ring; 2 Woodstrode Drak of Kohima, More compact all through with lots to like, including his excellent coat texture & lovely thick tail of correct length, lovely temperament. Had he moved more accurately & stacked better he would have won the class. OD 1 Lastarean Dufek, every inch the show dog, nice size & shape. Head could be longer. Excellent topline, good coat quality, comes alive on the move, well handled. BOB; 2 Pajanticks Zidane, another lovely dog, but just beginning to lose his topline on the move. In super condition, handled & presented to perfection. RBD. PB (1) A. JB (0). PGB 1 Lastarean Kama, Lovely type & size, excellent topline, held on the move, coat texture correct, moved out with drive. BB; 2 Janski Danuska, Another lovely bitch, just a size larger, & coat quality not as good as 1. Moved out with real drive. LB 1 Vandell Sweet Song, Another heartbreaker. A bitch I love for type, with a good head, lovely coat quality, just slightly proud of her tail, but I can forgive that when weighed against her good points, but today she just would not move & had to pay the penalty in the challenge; 2 Woodstrode Eliska, cobbier bitch with good mouth, excellent coat quality & grooming, but another one that had obviously reached the boredom threshold & didn’t give of her best. OB 1 Janski Celtic Ceska, always shows to perfection. Topline not quite as good as Kama’s, & coat not quite so silky today. RBB; 2 Lastarean Afera, one of my favourite bitches of all time, excels in breed type, & on her day can beat anything.Today wasn’t that day. Couldn’t match 1 for movement & looked heavy in comparison.
