Bedlington Terrier Dog CC : SCORAH, Mr & Mrs R & W & WILES Mrs J M Rivendown Return Of The King
I was pleased with my entry which included some very nice Bedlingtons & I did not find many of the faults & deviations from the Standard which I have commented on were getting too common in the breed when I have judged previously. There were hardly any terrible tails, mouths were good, teeth were clean, most had good to reasonable angulation, there were very few with straightish back legs, poor angulation, which leads to incorrect movement & coats were mostly the correct blue colour, not black. But where have the sloping front pasterns gone? Few had these. Tails generally reached to hock joint as they should. In most classes I was able to place dogs which closely fit the Standard, which is not always the case! MPD (1) 1 Tredgett’s Sevray Rebus, chest has time to drop, needs time to settle, movement was difficult to assess as he was acting up but he is just a baby. PD (2) 1 Baldwin’s Woolytop Lucky Star, good height to length ratio, good rear angulation giving drive, very good depth of chest, powerful good big head with nice big teeth & nice expression, masculine, good topline, well pigmented. BP, shortlisted in the puppy group; 2 Codling & Jones’ Bisbee Black Jack at Jansams, nice puppy, good pigmentation & coat colour. Would prefer slightly wider rear movement & slightly more length of body. JD (3,2a) 1 Heraty’s Ingelmaric Make My Day, lovely big powerful head not so often seen these days as was the norm in the past, nice topline, good rear angulation & movement. Pity about the tail carriage. PGD (3) 1 Ross’ Cedar Of The Manor, a very nice dog under too much hair on the day. Good height to length ratio, ie slightly longer than tall. Strong masculine head, lovely big teeth, excellent depth of chest, good angulation, lovely dark eyes & rims, should do well; 2 Ames’ Sharnor Blue Diamond, proper sloping front pasterns, good coat colour, nice eyes, well placed ears. Would prefer a little more length of body; 3 Baldwin’s Woolytop Starstruck. LD (8,1) 1 RCC, Richardson’s Uptnorth Quicksilver, pulled out all the stops for his handler on the day, lovely big head, nice expression, good teeth, good topline kept on the move, good angulation, moved well covering the ground & with rear drive, good depth of chest, balanced; 2 Caine’s Burmington And Me Too, nice liver coat, good angulation, nice head, good depth of chest, proper tailset, nice outline, one I have always liked; 3 Gillies’ Rhicullen Highland Ghillie. OD (4) 1 CC, Scorer & Wiles’ Rivendown Return Of The King, gave this dog the CC last time I judged & said it all then, he is very, very nice, lovely strong big head & teeth, good depth of chest, well angulated, moves well, good pigmentation, coat in excellent condition, very masculine, well muscled, sloping front pasterns. Would prefer a tiny bit less length of back. Pleased to note he was made up at WELKS; 2 Garbutt’s Ch Aireview Reprint, lovely coat, good pigmentation, good size head for body, good depth of chest, nice sloping front pasterns, good angulation, correct blue coat colour, nice tailset & tail carriage, good big nose; 3 Jones’ Pengerrig Iron Duke. MPB (1) 1 Rainsbury’s Sevray Repique, a real cutie, small but all there, just 6 months so could grow on a little, good coat, nice head, well balanced, sloping front pasterns, moved well, wanted to take her home. PB (3) 1 Owen’s Bisbee Bobby Dazzler, nice feminine head, good coat texture & colour, nicely balanced, good dark eye, good angulation; 2 S Repique; 3 Godden’s Seaofiron Where Angels Play. JB (1) 1 Fisher & Strumpff’s Miss American Pie at Gypcyan, nicely handled, long foreface, decent depth of chest. PGB (5) 1 CC & BOB, Hurley’s Fralex Culibre Sapphire, I love her, beautifully balanced, well angulated, excellent coat & furnishings, well pigmented, correct low hocks, lovely head & very expressive eyes showing the Bedlington devilment at times, good big teeth, excellent depth of chest, very feminine bitch but well boned & muscled, good angulation, moves not only with drive, gliding round the ring as Bedlingtons should & covering the ground but also looks lively & happy. At times was a handful for her handler. Shortlisted in the group; 2 Scorah & Wiles’ Rivendown Bonnie Blue Bell, a lovely bitch with good coat & colour, low hocks, good tail, nicely balanced, well muscled; 3 Hyde’s Gjenaby Zena of Bugibba. LB (7) 1 Cummings’ Toffset Tribeca, an honest bitch, no exaggerations, nicely balanced, nice long neck, natural coat of good colour, nice length to height ratio, good feet & legs; 2 Bussey’s Janmark Tiganello avec De-Bussey, nice bitch, nice outline, good angulation, good furnishings, lovely head. Coat difficult to assess. Moved & handled well. Would prefer a slightly longer back; 3 Gillies’ Rhicullen Ghillie’s Lass. OB (6,2) 1 RCC, Hurley’s Fralex Culibre Heather, made in the same mould as the CC winner with all of the same good points. Not quite as sparkling personality; 2 Richardson’s Uptnorth Sister Bliss, pushed hard for first, lovely bitch, well balanced, nicely angulated, nice head & expression, good coat & pigmentation, nice head with good big teeth, moved well, excellently handled & presented; 3 Ames’ Mollora Frozen In Time at Sharnor.
