Dandie Dinmont Terriers

PD (5,1a)

1 Hulme & Hunter’s Hendell Alphonse with Etsill, quite stunning puppy, won quite easily. Beautiful head, pigment good, correct eye placement & shape, enough neck, sound front, well boned, well padded feet, perfect arch over the loin into good set on of tail, crisp coat, excellent outline & so well muscled for a baby. BP & RCC;

2 Culverhouse’s Cassencarrie Gandalf at Lykath, more backward than 1, staining under his eyes & a wee bit too long in muzzle. True front, ideal body shape & topline, enough rear angulation & fair coat for age, very promising & moved out well too;

3 Butcher’s Puddockswell Grey Granite for Daiszana.

JD (8,2)

1 Tinsley & Macbeth’s Hendell Tom Smart at Cloverwood, beautiful puppy, just under 12 months, his coat needs to thicken somewhat otherwise he too is a future star. Smashing head of correct width & slightly domed forehand, neat ears, OK in neck, sound front, deep enough in chest & correct in topline & overall proportions, precise mover & holds himself very proudly;

2 Kerrush’s Inzievar Royal Gold, not the front or front legs of 1 but moved OK coming towards. Deep well ribbed chest, attractive eyes & backskull, well presented crisp coat, powerful rear & well muscled up, nicely carried thick at root tail;

3 Roslyn’ Wazzly Atlas.

PGD (6)

Difficult class to judge.

1 France’s Torbrae Dance N Dazzle, very sound & precise moving, well boned, pleasing head, silky topknot, hard back coat, enough bend of stifle for drive behind as many seemed to tummy tap. Well set tail & overall proportions looked balanced;

2 Osbourne’s Puddockswell Amber Melody for Braego, handsome boy, his outline even better than 1 with the correct weasley body & arch over loin starting in the correct place. His front was overcrooked & turns his feet out too much, actually he does not move too badly coming towards & his profile & rear are really good on the move. Lovely coat & furnishings;

3 Kelly’s Swanwillow Jackmanii.

LD (6,1)

1 Denham’s Scottsbairn Duke of Ross, two very similar dogs for type, colour & size, 1 has a perfect front & extends beautifully in front & rear. Lovely head & eyes set wide apart, neat ears, enough neck, correct coat falling into pencils on his back, well set tail but it could be carried a little lower. Super strong & true Dandie movement;

2 Hamilton’s Margham Moon Duster, gorgeous head for size & shape of skull & foreface, large but still in proportion to his size, excellent front & well boned legs, tight feet, correct amount of weight & pleasing topline profile, sound behind. Coat could have been a little better presented but a beautiful boy in the rough;

3 Cadwallader’s Bettymac Sun Samba.

OD (4,2)

1 Buist & Jamieson’s Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt, very strong & fit, great drive from lovely hindquarters, muscular & well developed right through, lovely head, broad strong jaws, good width of skull & tidy ears, enough neck for good head carriage, true front, well padded feet, deep enough but could do with less hair under the chest to give him the appearance of more ground clearance (which he has). In lovely crisp coat with good furnishings. CC, BOB & G1;

2 Bannister’s Ch Banburg Alfresco, a bit square both ends & too wide across the chest even for this breed. Has a good outline & quarters, well presented coat, nice short thick tail, good legs & feet, pleasing head. Could cover more ground on the move.

PB (7,2)

Smashing class right down to 5th & I’m sure they will all do well as they grow & mature.

1 Osbourne’s Pitfirrane Silver Lady of Braego, I liked her true old working type, huge teeth, beautiful head & eyes without being too prominent & easy to damage. True front, excellent weasley body & powerful rear. Lacks a mite of leg hair at present but a good topknot. Thick tail & an easy active mover;

2 Allen’s Penactiv Willow Tree with Clymarian, looked very much a baby, delightful head, eyes & expression. A touch over wide as yet in front but that should tighten OK. Super body, arch over loin in the right place, moved well in profile;

3 Butcher’s Puddockswell Blaewearie.

JB (6,1)

1Shore’s Swanwillow Passion Flower, beautiful bitch, just in need of developing more undercoat for protection. Lovely colour, silky topknot, excellent head & muzzle. Ears a little on the thick side. Pleasing neck, front & body, correct outline, powerful driving quarters. Tail a bit thin at the root. RCC;

2 Heywood’s Schalulleke Clara Jones, has a little more coat but still needs more undercoat. Good sound legs & feet, has width across the skull & slightly domed forehead, well spaced eyes, deep enough without being too low to ground. A little flat over the croup. Moved well;

3 Smith’s Somercloud Starprize at Glencandy.

PGB (9,5)

1 Hunter’s Puddockswell Hootin Annie at Etsill, lovely head of good size & proportions, strong broad jaws, good neck & tidy front. Feet spoilt by very long nails. Excellent body. A touch too flat in topline, powerful impressive quarters, good coat & presentation;

2 Brookes’ Dengold Cutty Sark of Berdinbrook, presentation could be much improved & it would make such a difference to this girl. She has hair hanging off her elbows which makes her appear over-wide in front, too much hair over quarters & tail. Nice to go over for head & body, reasonable mover;

3 Hissey’s Schalulleke Dream Maker of Hellchuck.

LB (6)

1 Denham’s Dentgate Serendipity, lovely bitch to go over, true mover with width across the front but not over wide, powerful quarters, pleasing head & wide spaced eyes, good neck & shoulder placement. A bit in between coats but it felt crisp enough;

2 Tinsley’s Cloverwood Absolute Angel, beautifully presented down to the last hair. Shows like a dream & will free stand which was lovely to see. She needs a bit more rear angulation & was not extending in rear movement. Beautiful head, eyes & expression very appealing, great temperament as they all had;

3 Weatherstone & Heywood’s Schalulleke Blueprint for Borderstone.

OB (8) A super class.

1 Deacon’s Cassencarrie Habit Forming, of ideal medium size, beautiful head & expressive eyes, correct length of muzzle, neat thin ears, good neck & true even front, correct weasley body & arch over loin starting at the proper place, nice sweep into tailset, powerful straight & flexible mover, in super coat & furnishings. CC;

2 Shore’s Ch Swanwillow Savannah, bigger type & I thought a little less weight over her waist would improve her. Solid & well boned, good even true front, deep chest, beautifully put down, well carried tail. Moved a little close going away;

3 Hughes’ Maganbars Play Misty For Me.
