BORDER JUDGE SOUTHERN COUNTIES 09

Border Terriers

A huge entry, it’s a good job we went outside for LD as we would not all fit into the inside wet weather ring. I really enjoyed judging the dogs more than the bitches, not often is the case but today it was.

Coats were either non existence, blown or half & half, just a handful were in double coat & they looked the part. One bad mouth, one had a front tooth missing, all dogs were entire & no bitches in season.

MPD (9,2)

1 South’s Borderella Day Tripper, 8 months red, good head for his age, dark eye, liked his length of body, good hind angulation which showed in his movement;

2 Anscombe’s Orangebox Firecracker, 7 months, smart lively grizzle, narrow front, better tailset than 1, both handled & moved well;

3 Newsham’s Kighill Mister Clooney.

PD (10,3)

1 Larner’s Hawcoat Blue Bertie, plenty of coat covering a smart handy red grizzle;

2 Sheild’s Cederhill Cuyahoga to Tarkadon, sound mover with good drive, masculine head, nice length of neck & body. Sadly he had no coat;

3 Freer’s Felfree Ricardo Tubbs.

JD (3)

1 Hunt’s Ethencoral Pip of Ottaswell, straight front & legs, good muscletone, well angulated racy hindquarters. Would of liked a better tailset & a shorter muzzle;

2 Girling’s Benattivo Basilio, smart showy dog with an otter like head, dark eyes, long neck, narrow front. Lacking in coat & not showing any ticking which a b/t should have;

3 Pateman’s Lessien Dinx Boy Oberon.

YD (7)

1 Regan’s Digmoor Aces High, what a dog to go over, the handler showed him off very well, slim spannable in a short harsh double coat, well angulated, correct short tail;

2 Dean’s Digmoor Captain Rook by Tyrian, pity this dog had no coat or these two might have changed places. Built on similar lines, slightly longer in foreface, movement in both 1 & 2 good with muscletone;

3 Norris’ Brookbank Could It Be Magic.

GD (4)

1 Haydon & Gibbing’s Badgerbeck Fresco of Earthtaw, one of the narrowest spannable dogs today, good coated red, slim all the way through, showed on a loose lead, a bit too loose at times;

2 Matthew’s Rhozzum Kingpin, r/grizzle larger build than 1. OK in front & movement;

3 Jackson’s Clipstone Tailor.

PGD (5,1)

1 Dean’s Yeomeadow Sorrel for Tyrian, smart leggy b/t coat, nearly on its way out but still had a harsh texture, lovely shoulders leading to a level back, another muscle dog from this kennel;

2 Jenkins’ Badgerbeck Felix, smaller red which was neat in all departments;

3 Anscombe’s Tufterslodge Walnut at Orangebox.

LD (17,1)

1 Davis’ Hesslemere Hi Karate, lovely front with straight legs, narrow body spannable, coat at its best, good masculine head with that cheeky varminty expression, very gamey alert & moved with drive, shown & handled to CC & BOB plus his crown;

2 Johnson & Williams’ Quarryway Dill, light red, very nice in all departments, liked him for his shape & outline & deserved the RCC;

3 Clark’s Gameway Charles Dickens.

OD (9,2)

1 Hand’s Lutrabeck Likewise, red, narrow, handy size, spannable with a good double coat, pleasing head, good strong white teeth, straight front standing on thick pads, racy hindquarters, showed & moved with drive;

2 Hollingsbee’s Ch Otterwood Amex, stronger in head than 1, alert with keenest eyes, well made throughout but a handy size, moved true;

3 Singh’s Ch Vandamere’s Secret Agent.

V (10,3)

1 Jackson’s Ch Rossula Magic Borderer Clipstone, really smart r/grizzle, active from the moment he entered the ring, in excellent coat, slim & spannable, level topline, very nice 8 year old;

2 Mooney’s Chesterton Broken Promise, light red, very slim, feminine lines, good angulation;

3 Harris’ Penlumeg Paloma.

MPB (13,1)

1 Clark’s Southash Blue Betty Boo Gameway, gorgeous b/t with perfect ticking, liked her for overall shape & the way she moved, she took in all in her stride. BP;

2 Harrison’s Iacheslei Cantilena, smaller grizzle, lovely type all round, harsh coat for one so young, very nice topline & tailset;

3 Anscombe’s Orangebox Stargazer.

PB (13,2)

1 Pearson’s Rexlands Golden Plover by Karison, very slim smart r/grizzle, tidy in all departments, moved & shown well;

2 Shepard’s Didillibobs Forest Sprite, this puppy was slightly deeper in chest than 1 & a longer body, lovely head with big white teeth, both moved with drive;

3 Larner’s Hawcoat Double Expresso.

JB (16,2)

1 Maltby’s Stoneygin Dolly Mixture at Pherjan, classic b/t, this bitch grows on you maturing each time she is out, dark eye with that varminty expression, long neck, laid back shoulders, lovely topline, good hind angulation making her drive straight;

2 Waller’s Worker’s Playtime, light red bitch, very feminine, shapely, good tailset, good hind angulation which shows in the movement;

3 Holmes’ Trixdale Twix at Bimandi.

YB (17,2)

1 Dean’s Yeomeadow Heather for Tyrian, b/t with correct ticking, feminine head, dark eyes, ears close to cheek, straight front & legs, lovely body, ribs well back, thick pads, coat was OK, plenty of muscletone;

2 Freivokh’s Dugaden Dilemma at Artwork, very feminine with a good ottery head, excellent double coat, deep chest, stood & shown expertly;

3 Davis’ Hesslemere Miss Lemon.

GB (9)

1 Stockley’s Rhozzum Keynote with Foxfactor, b/t, nicely shaped dark eye, long neck, coat looked strange from a distance but its half in & half out & could have been a harsher texture. Moved & shown well;

2 Workers Playtime;

3 Holmes’ Trixdale Twix at Bimandi.

PGB (8,4)

1 Johnson & Williams’ Quarryway Sorrel, no coat but what was there was OK, feminine head, strong muzzle, straight front & legs, good length of body & ribs well back;

2 South’s Borderella Emma, light grizzle, coat was better than 1. Would of liked the hind movement a bit stronger;

3 Cole’s Towden Felicity Pipit.

LB (16,5)

1 Gregory’s Remony Barley Twist, this bitch is quite leggy but very racy with it, plenty of excellent harsh double coat, Ottery head, shoulders & level back, good tailset;

2 Morgan’s Glebeheath Minnie The Motor at Blewecourt, this bitch has a smart outline, nice lengthy body, ribs well back, good hind angulation & tailset. Not much facial hair which makes her look snippy but she isn’t;

3 Aldis’ Torryburn Sequoia.

OB (11,1)

1 Guvercin’s Glebeheath Figurine, lovely harsh coated grizzle bitch with stunning lines, very feminine head, large teeth, slim & spannable as could be, level back & a right good set on of tail, good hindquarters. CC & RBOB;

2 Higham’s Comberdown Ciara, light red, not much coat but what was there mattered, lovely strong head & muzzle, nice shaped dark eye with a varminty expression, long neck leading to a good lay of shoulders then a level back, ribs well back, good hind angulation with plenty of drive, handled & shown well. RCC.

3 MISS L M JENKINS' BADGERBECK FANTACY JW

Breeder Girling’s four dogs, as my catalogue was only marked up to the dogs I have no notes.
