BORDER NATIONAL TERRIER 11 Border Terriers Judge/s:Hilary Gilpin (Otterbobs)
BORDER TERRIER Thank you to my stewards for keeping the ring very well organized and to all the exhibitors for your entries and sportsmanship. My main winners are what I look for in a working Border, slim, spannable, decent length of body with ribs well back, racy hindquarters, straight front legs moving true and muscle tone to drive from the rear. Harsh double coat with a thick pelt, and must have a Border head with a strong muzzle, large clean white teeth and that varminty expression. I found a few with butterfly noses and a couple with dirty teeth, all dogs were entire but there were two bitches in season. MPD (6,1) 1 Lowry's Ravenside Workforce, harsh coated red dog with all the trappings of a well constructed pup, I was pleased to award him B.P.I.B. He then went on to group 4. 2 Lowry's Tythrop Tap On Wood For Ravenside, this one was another nice puppy in a smart coat would have liked to see him stride out more. 3 Green's Breckgreen Royal Mint. PD (10,3) 1 Mcpherson Brumberhill Brigadoon, good workmanlike size of dog, pleasing head with dark eyes , good length of neck fitted straight into well laid shoulders , level topline and correct set on of tail, racy hindquarters, coat just coming in. 2 Haughton's Chorbeck Charlie Chaplin, looks larger than he is, but under his thick coat he has really smart lines, excellent head with strong muzzle and big teeth, good length of neck, excellent movement. 3 Wren & Langdon's Dandyhow Douglas Fir. JD (11,1) 1 North Northborders Mr Pickles, this Blue/Tan dog won three classes in a row; I was very pleased with him as he was very well made, good strong head, and ears close to cheeks, neck of correct length, level back and tail running straight off it. Front legs straight, rear angulation and drive was good and true. His coat was just coming in. 2 Sharp's Rhozzum Valet, another Blue/Tan not very much between these two, he had a thicker pelt but not much coat. 3 Docwra Bandicoot Double Take YD (10,2) 1 Northborders Mr Pickles. 2 Girling & Leathams Benattivo Stitch In Time, a harsh coated red dog, another with strong head, dark eyes and ears close to cheeks, moved out well. 3 Sneddon Chesterton Top Hat And Tails By Kersfell JW, ND(5,1) 1 Northborders Mr Pickles 2nd Brumberhill Brigadoon 3rd Mr R Brewster Stowthorney Swinging Sam GD(2) 1 Ellis & Hall's Blues Boy At Brackenfell, red grizzle in a blown coat, strong in the head and neck, a little bit round in the ribs but moved out well. 2 McPherson's Brumberhill Blue Tempest.
