BORDER JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 17

Firstly I would like to thank my stewards for their assistance during the day. Thanks to the exhibitors that sportingly took my decisions, it was a pleasure to judge some lovely terriers. I would just suggest that over baiting not only slows up the judging, especially with young puppies, but spoils the terriers outline in the final line up of the classes on occasion. That said it was pleasing to find the temperaments sound in the exhibits, despite the various distractions and of course the clanking of the ducting under the carpet. Thank you again for your entry.

VD (2,1)

1. Spencer's Ch. Cobstoneway River Magic JW Sh.SM. This 8 year old was presented in excellent coat, and as would be expected moved very soundly. Good head, keen expression still maintaining all the qualities needed to become the champion he is. Best Veteran.

PD (5)

1. Bailey's Lockhaugh Linx to Grindelvald. A most promisng youngster with a super head, keen eye and a good overall outline. Nice well padded tight feet and moved out very well for a youngster.

2.Atkinson's Tojamatt Rhythm N' Blues At Raedwulf. Another sound mover this puppy, with masculine head good front and tidy feet. Nice length of neck into deep ribs and good length of loin, thick pelt and in good coat

3.Hollingsbee's Tarkaswell Smart Move To Otterwood.

JD (5,1)

1. Woollacott's Tufterslodge Tea N Cake. Striking youngster moving very soundly. Good masculine head, well balanced with correct length neck into deep body and ribs well carried back. Racy hind quarters and good tight well padded feet.

2. Guvercin's Baillieswells Glengyle At Glebeheath JW. Put down in immaculate condition this youngster moves very well but was not co-operating with his handler when standing at times. A shade short in the body for me but has good depth of body good tail and tail set, masculine head and expression a close decision between the two.

3. Broadbent's Gelliswon Love and Laugh.

YD (4)

1. Matthews' Tojamatt Moriarty. A close decision here as both first and second were moving soundly. The winner being in better jacket and has a good pelt. Both sporting good heads and keen expression. Moriarty has a good front with well padded neat feet, good depth of body and strong carrot tail set on well.

2. Hughes and Kendrick's Chatmoss Bullet Tooth Tony.J.W. Well yes he has a good head and set of teeth. Being well balanced standing on his well padded feet, body of correct proportions deep and narrow with his ribs carried well back, racy quarters giving the impression he could easily do his days work.

3. Channer's Benattivo Gun Fire At Rubyfin.

PGD (11)

1. Baxter's Mysulan Going Solo JW. Well presented this youngster in perfect coat condition and thick pelt. Good carrot tail. A lovely outline with balanced body and true movement.

3.Sharp's Rhozzum Gwilym. Another strong contestant in the class that needs to settle more on the move.

LD (9,5)

1. Jackson's Clipstone Starshine. Put down in immaculate order, a sound moving terrier that is well balanced and covered the ground well using his racy quarters to advantage. Well padded neat feed good front and good tail set. Thick pelt and in good jacket pleased to award him the RCC.

VB (5,2)

1. Baxter's Am. Can. Int. Ch. Sulan Fancy That. This lovely 10 year old never put a foot wrong. Presented in excellent coat she has a good feminine head yet shows that terrier expression. Good neckline into balanced body with good depth of chest. As one would expect from her titles movement is excellent.

2. Yore's Southash Cherry Bliss At Smurfski. This 8 year old moved out well and pressed the winner hard but one must consider the age when judging a veteran class. A lovely terrier with sound movement, in good jacket has a good head with good dentition still. Well balanced in body with racy quarters. Good feet and front.

3. Small's Badgerbeck Tree Pipit At Tilmoray JW Sh. CM. Still very sound on the move.

MPB (5)

This was a lovely class of very promising babies, which bodes well for the future. All in good coat and of sound movement.

1. Taylor's Nottorg Nostalgia. Topped the line up so steady for a youngster in great condition with a thick pelt, good tail and overall balance helped to complete the picture. Good head and expression with a good reach of neck to well placed shoulders and straight front with nice well padded feet. Certainly one to watch.

2. Phillips Nantcoch Field Skipper another really promising youngster with all the same qualities just not quite as steady on the move yet so not able to take the top spot.

Good head and expression, balanced in body with good depth of rib and length easily spanned. Tight well padded feet, good straight front and good tail set. Moved out with ease to take the class and final challenge.
