BORDER BOSTON 23 Judge: Tracy Butler Firstly I would like to thank the officers and committee for inviting me to judge there well run show, also many thanks must go to my very capable stewards on an excellent job in keeping the ring running smoothly. The biggest thanks must go the exhibitors for there entries, and their sportsmanship on my decisions. In my opinon, my findings were as follows, the standard asks for “essentially a working terrier”, this is a statement that is very close to my heart. Unfortunatley some do not fit this, short upperarms are still very present, restricting reach in movement. Some dogs would benefit from less food and more exercise. Muscle tone varied greatly, some dogs lacking, these dogs are bred to do a job. With the rising costs of entries, some exhibits would benefit greatly from a good tidy up and the mud removed from their underbellies. I was pleased with my overall winners, some nice quality exhibits. 1 McPherson Manacroft Johan At Brumberhill. 6 ½ month grizzle, what a smart puppy, just right for age, pleasing head , flat skull, strong muzzle, of good proportions, correct dentition, clean neck, into well laid shoulders, straight front, length of upperarm, enough bone, stood on nice tight padded feet, strong over the loin, spans with ease, racy quarters with good muscle tone, in excellent coat and loose thick pelt, once settled held his topline on the move, with good reach and drive, pleased to award him BPD & BPIB. 2 Brewester & Green Stowthorney Best Of You. 8 ½ month grizzle, pleasing head of good proportions, dark eye, correct dentition, clean in neck & shoulder, neat feet, easily spanned, overall balanced picture, moved well, just prefered topline of one on the move. 3 Stamps & Joyce Goxfell Gotcha. 1 Hughes Arunmere For Fox Sake. 10 month grizzle, pleasing head, with correct dentition, clean neck, well boned, good feet, would prefer slightly more length of upperarm, in good harsh coat & thick pelt, moved ok. 2 Southam – Southash Smurfski Cervelo Blue. Blue & Tan, overall smaller dog than one, of different type, ok in head with correct bite, clean neck, easily spanned, enough bone, well ribbed back, moved ok. 3 Clewlow & Waller – Holdenfold Qolin. 1 Ramus Tulawyn Garrestson By Onthill. 14 month grizzle, easy winner in this class, pleasing head, flat skull, strong muzzle & underjaw, correct bite, clean neck & shoulders, straight front, neat well padded feet, strong through the loin, tail set well on, well angulated rear construction, with good muscle tone, in harsh coat & thick pelt, moved well. 2 South Borderella High Tide. Slighter build dog than one, and not the strength of head, easily spanned, clean lines throughout, balanced front & rear, moves ok. 3 Sutton Dark Rum At Beckholm. 1 Stevens – Cobstoneway Stand By Me. 19 month grizzle, pleasing head, flat skull, strong muzzle, correct bite, clean neck & shoulders, straight front, enough bone, stood on well padded feet, strong well muscled loin, good muscle toned quarters, thick pelt, coat going over, moved out well. 2 Sutton Pipruda Dark Rum At Beckholm. Grizzle, not the strength in head of one, good neck, straight front, strong loin, level topline, easily spanned, thick pelt, overall balanced, moves ok. 3 Greenway – Foxchapel Perfect Day With Foxcourt. Very mixed class for type. 1 Barber Alcumlow Aramis. Blue & Tan, showy dog, plainer in head than some, but balanced proportions, correct dentition, cleanest of necks, good shoulder. Straight front, well ribbed back, strong loin, racy quarters with good muscle tone, harsh jacket & thick pelt , moves well holding his topline. 2 Daies Gwynfe Carreg Gias Of Foxchapel. Grizzle, broad flat skull, strong muzzle, straight front, enough bone, tidy feet, in good coat & thick pelt, moved ok, prefered overall balance of one. 3 Dixon – Thornheswin Huntsman. 1 Bullen The Joker Lets Rock & Roll To Fevstone. Masculine dog, up on leg, strong head with flat skull, strong muzzle and underjaw, correct dentition, with nice big teeth, clean flowing neck into well placed shoulders, correct front assembly with length of upperarm, well ribbed, flat, easily spanned, strong loin, well angulated quarters with good muscle tone, lacking coat, but enough evidence of good harsh texture, thick pliable pelt, moved with reach & drive, pleased to award him RDCC. 2 Dixon Thornheswin Ring Of Fire. Another masculine dog, strong head of good width, strength of muzzle & underjaw, clean neck & shoulders, straight front, not the length and angulation of upperarm as one for me, easily spanned , in fit hard condition, level topline, racy quarters, harsh coat going over, thick pelt, moved with drive. 3 Brewster & Green Duke Of York Fiery Lucifer To Stowthorney (imp cz) 1 Lee CH Yorkpiece Fiery Lucifer (imp cze) One I’ve always admired & today he didn’t disappoint. Blue & tan, turned out in top condition, moderately broad head, strong muzzle & underjaw, big teeth with correct dentition, cleanest of necks, well laid shoulders, straight front, stood on well padded feet, well off for bone without being overdone, easily spanned, comes to hand well, strong through the loin, well set tail, well muscled thigh and second thigh, in the best of harsh jackets & thick pelt, moves with drive and purpose, pleased to award him DCC. 2 Storm Ch/NL/DE/BE/FR Ch/CIB Brackenfell Instant Reply jch/nl jch/de/jch/be/Ww’21 Grizzle, pleasing head proportions, clean neck & shoulder, well ribbed back, easily spanned, harsh coat & thick pelt, not the front & rear balance of one for me, moves out well. 2 Baxter Mysulan Going Solo. Blue & Tan, masculine head, correct bite, good neck straight front, spans easily, good bone, neat feet, harsh coat & thick pelt, moves well, preferred front assembly of one. 3 Hughes Chatmoss Bullet Tooth Tony. 1 Greenway Perfect Day With Foxchapel. 3rd in yearling, grizzle, pleasing head with good strength of muzzle, correct bite, overall balanced dog, harsh jacket & thick pelt, bit on the heavy side, moves ok. 2 Swallow Howthwaite Godfrey To Otterbuck. Grizzle, not the strength of head of one, clean neck, ok in shoulder, enough bone, straight front, easily spanned, harsh jacket & thick pelt, moves ok. 3 Cray Rockslade Risque Romance. 1 Symons Olliesorchid Vintage Fizz. 6 month grizzle, feminine head, correct dentition, clean neck, good shoulders, straight front, neat tight well padded feet, easily spanned, strong loin, well muscled quarters for one so young, excellent harsh jacket & thick pelt, overall balanced picture, moved out well once settled, pleased to award her BPB. 2 Brewster & Green – Stowthorney These Days. Grizzle, similar to one, pleasing head, clean neck & shoulders, correct bite, enough bone, tight feet, thick pelt, moved well, just preferred overall balance of one. 3 Alcumlow Monet’s Garden. 1 Peacock Ragatam Brodie. 10 month Grizzle, feminine head of good proportions, clean in neck, flowing into well placed shoulders, straight front, enough bone, well ribbed, easily spanned, strong loinn. well muscled quarters, harsh coat, thick pelt moved well. 2 Renault Carrock Cassandra. Similar remarks to one, just preferred overall length & balance of one. 3 Gwilliam Ragatam Isla At louajak. 1 Lee Bohamer York’ist Celeste By Tythrop (imp eir)TAF NAF Blue & Tan, most feminine of heads, broad flat skull, strength of muzzle & underjaw, correct dentition, lovely dark eye, and neat ears, cleanest of necks into well laid shoulders, straight front, enough bone, stood on tight well padded feet, nice flat rib, strong loin, tail set well on, well muscled quarters, easily spanned, in the best of harsh jackets & thick pelt, best of movers, pleased to award her BCC & BOB, Congratulations on Terrier Group 3. 2 Renault Carrock Cassandra. 2nd in puppy bitch. 3 Fulker Onthill Crystal Clear To Foxpaw. 1 Lowe, Miles & Jones – Rockslade Russian Roulette. Pale grizzle, feminine head, correct bite, lovely neck & shoulder, straight front, spans with ease, strong loin, well muscled quarters, nice topline & tailset, stands on small neat tight feet, harsh coat & thick pelt, moves with reach & drive, considered her in the challenge. 2 Baxter – Mysulan Rhapsody In Blue. Blue & Tan, pleasing head and expression, enough bone, easily spanned, good jacket & thick pelt, well set on tail, moves well, prefered overall balance picture of one. 3 Fleming Otterbobs Aira Force Flegato. 1 Dixon Thornheswin Huntress. Grizzle nearly 2 years, in the hardest of condition, strong but feminine head, correct dentition, good neck & shoulder, strong firm loin, well boned, well padded feet, easy to span, enough coat of good texture, thick pliable pelt, balanced piture, moves with drive. 2 Symons Olliesorchid Twist N Shout. Pleasing head with strength of muzzle, correct bite, overall balanced picture, excellent harsh coat & thick pelt, moved well once she found her pace. 3 Heeley Thistlemead Sundance. 1 Dixon – Thornheswin Set To Strike. Blue & Tan, a bitch I’ve admired from ringside, and today she didn’t disappoint, feminine head, flat skull of good width, strength of muzzle & underjaw, correct dentition, moderate length of neck, clean well placed shoulders, strong through the loin, correct tailset, level topline, well muscled quarters, easiest to span, comes to hand well, lovely flat rib, in enough coat to show harshness and the thickest of pelts, moves with drive, pleased to award her RBCC. 2 Goldings Beaconpike Solstice. Grizzle, another bitch I’ve always admired, most feminine of heads, correct dentition, strong neck, lovely clean shoulders, straight front, enough bone, tight well padded feet, strong in loin, spans with ease, harsh coat going over, thick pliable pelt, moves with drive once settled, not cooperating with her handler at all today standing, which wasnt to her advantage. 3 Peacock Olliesorchid Dame At Ragatam. 2 Fawcett Carrock Curiosity. Grizzle, pleasing head, flat skull, strong muzzle, straight front, enough bone, stands on neat padded feet, easily spanned, well muscled throughout, moves well. 3 Barber Ch Alcumlow Bloom JW. 1 Stockley -Foxfactor Fancy Free. 7 yrs grizzle, pleasing head, overall balanced bitch, carrying a tad much weight, moved well for her young handler. 2 Lorraine Raleniro New Rose. Blue & Tan 9 yrs, a lot smaller type to one, overall balanced bitch, jacket totally on the blow, moved ok. 1 Renault Carrock Cassandra. 2nd in puppy bitch, pleased to award her SBB & SBIB, congratulations on SB group 1. 2 Gwilliam Ragatam Isla At Louajak. Grizzle 3rd in puppy bitch, feminine head, correct dentition, balanced front & rear angulation, in harsh jacket & thick pelt , moves ok. 3 Oakman Howthwaite Gertrude.
