WELSH WELSH KC 16 Welsh Terrier Judge: Mr J Barney BEST OF BREED : 5256 VICKERS Ms J & J Eskwyre Pistol Pete WELSH JUDGE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 16 Welsh Terriers I’d like to thank the majority of the exhibitors for accepting my decisions in a sporting manner. PD (2) 1 Riley’s Yonichi Dodging Bullets, won on presentation. In good body & a spring of rib. Good straight legs & tight feet. Tail well set on & carriage good. Bit too much skull & cheek for my liking. Good earset & eye. Movement could have been more positive with some drive; 2 Hoare’s Hansulle You Got It at Glenaffric, an honest type of dog with a well made front assembly into a good topline, well ribbed back, however slightly straight in stifle. The handler needs to be braver with the presentation to make more of the dog. JD (1) 1 Roberts’ Brecknock Bleddyn, good type with plenty of substance. Good straight front, well ribbed & level topline, with a well set on tail. Good to see a bit of bum behind the tail. Better when free stood as it held itself more positively. Like a slightly better lay of shoulder. LD (2,1a) 1 Williams & Bradley’s Aman Man That Can’t Be, well presented with a good neck & shoulder. Clean front assembly. Well ribbed with spring & plenty of substance. Tail well set on with a good bum behind it. Lost his topline on occasions. Pleasing head & eye. Ears could be tighter to the skull. OD (4,1) 1 Vickers’ Eskwyre Pistol Pete, a well made stallion dog full of Welsh character. Super neck & shoulder into a good topline. Well set tail & carriage, with bum behind. Well ribbed into short loin. Masculine head & expression with correct ear & set. Presentation spot on. Good to see him go on to top honours in the terrier group. Crowning CC on the day as well; 2 Potts’ Kebulak Original Prankster, a slightly shorter in the loin than 1. Well let down behind & short hock. Tail well set on, good topline. Super rich tan colour. Just needed to settle on the move a bit more. RCC; 3 Witmond’s Ch Boowire Ignite My Fire at Tiltser. MPB (1) 1 Graham’s Stanstead Shining Star, a very raw youngster. Good free movement in profile. Feminine head & expression with a good eye. Ears well set on. Well set tail & good carriage. Needs to firm up in topline PB (3) 1 Jones’ Cwnogion Alaw Medi, most typical Welsh type. Kept a balanced outline on the move & both ways true. Good feminine head & expression with a good earset & close to cheek. Plenty of substance & well ribbed back. Good rear end construction with good let down & short hock. Handler needs to be more aware of stance of bitch at points, but forgave that for quality of her, plus a little more work on the presentation would really enhance this bitch. BP; 2 Riley’s Yonichi Pistol Raider, different type not quite the scope of 1. Like the litter brother well presented, cleaner head & expression. Plenty of substance & spring of rib. Like a little more rear angulation & showed on the move as needed to drive off more; 3 Crabtree’s Tigermilk Honey. JB (3) 1 Witmond’s Tiltser Million Dollar Baby, best bitch for quality & finished, winning her crowning CC on the day. Good head & ear, & feminine expression with a good eye. Straight legs & good tight feet. Plenty of substance with a good rib & short loin. Super rear construction & really showed on the move fore & aft. Kept a well balanced make & shape in profile. Presentation top notch. CC; 2 Collins’ Colldale Boudica, a different type to 1 & would have liked a little more all over. Good head & ear & very alert & keen on the move. Just like a few more angles both ends; 3 Gallett’s Pistols At Dawn. OB (4,2) 1 Pearce, Hughes & Sinclair’s Ir Ch Demorner Klass Act, a smart youngster who moved with more confidence to 2. Good head with good set of ear, creating that typical Welsh expression. Plenty of substance. Good front assembly & lay of shoulder. Like a little more rear angulation. Presentation good & crisp. RCC; 2 Young & Potts’ Kebulak Fallen Angel, shame about this bitch on the day, just coming in season & not at her best. Presentation & finish off to a tea. Good head & expression, well balanced. Another with a good forehand into a good lay of shoulder, leading to a well made rib & short loin. Good rear with a bum behind the tail. J A BARNEY |
