WELSH JUDGE WELSH KC 10

Welsh Terrier

Thanks to my excellent stewards who did a wonderful job leaving me free to get on with judging. I thoroughly enjoyed judging this great breed and was impressed with the sportsmanship and good, old fashioned terrier nous within the breed.

PD (1)

1 Williams So What at Valucis. Decent pup with lots to like, a good type, shows well & moves ok, not helped by his owner; half an hour on the trimming table and ten minutes in the bath would make all the difference? The only puppy present. BP.

JD (2)

1 Connell Sonorra Percy Pimp. Top drawer with Champion written all over him and a pleasure to judge, excellent type & balance all through, lovely head with strong underjaw, good ear & eye, excels in overall forehand, well ribbed & bodied, good set-on, well defined quarters and overall hardness of condition, immaculately turned out and a great showman, moved soundly but unnaturally hurried making him move close which counted in the challenge. RDCC.

2 Snow Felstead Fourscore. Close up and an excellent example; balanced head with good ear, eye and underjaw, quality forehand with strong neck, good topline & set-on, well ribbed and strong loin, decent quarters, good legs & feet, excellent coat & colour, moved fairly well but not so confident or settled as 1.

PGD (1)

1 Franklyn Jolliver Magical Wizzard. Average overall, thick in head, unsettled ears, good eye, bite & jaw, ok in front, layback could be better, big rib, straight stifle, good topline, & set-on, good coat & colour, erratic.

LD (5,1)

1 Hughes & Pearce Knowlelion Allow Me. Fabulous shape in profile, much quality with good head, neat ears, good eye & bite, good front and forehand, excellent ribbing, body & set-on , well muscled and very well presented, fluent & showy, should go on. 2 Barney Romaunt Chicago Outfit. Decent sort, good front, neat ears, good eye, bite & teeth, good legs & feet, very raw, needs time for the middlepiece. Well presented. Sound & showy.

3 Cassidy Boowire Wild Ginger.

OD (6,2)

1 Halliwell Wigmore The One And Only. Lovely example, presented to the minute, very typical with balanced head, good ears, keen eye, excellent bite & teeth, superb forehand, well filled rib, good body & loin with tail on top, finished article with excellent muscletone all through, super coat texture & colour, moved & showed with fluency & purpose. DCC & BOB which made him up.

2 Robertson Felstead Funny Fellow at Renevis ShCM. Decent sort, not as clean in shoulder, a bit stuffy and not so fluent, well presented.

3 Pearce & Hughes Dobelands Devils Advocate Of Demorner.

JB (3)

1 Snow Felcwm Topknot. Top class, screams Welsh Terrier, commands your attention with her quality. Smashing head with wonderful expression, the best of ears, keen eye and strong bite, the best of fronts & overall forehand, good neck and clean shoulder transition, well ribbed, compact, excellent quarters, all topped off with A1 presentation, lovely coat texture & colour. I later learned it was her first time out – well she showed her head off and moved beautifully. A star in the making – I will watch her career with interest. BCC & BOS.

2 Poole Boowire Sunrise of Alokin. Very nice sort with a good future, not the quality in shoulder as winner and a little straighter in stifle, well headed with good neck, topline & rib, good set-on, excellent presentation & colour, moved well.

3 Ashton Jolliver Celtic Flame.

PGB (2)

1 Gatto-Ronchieri Solentine Say No More. Presents a lovely picture profile, lovely to go over with excellent conformation, type & balance, just needs to put more in on the move, A1 coat & condition, good colour, well presented in good form.

2 Roberts Brecknock Belladonna. Above average, well presented of good coat & colour, unsettled.

LB (6)

1 Spragg Saredon Delta Dawn. In tip top form, well balanced, good headpiece, excellent front & layback, short backed with well filled ribs, good set-on, well used quarters, tight jacket, full of fizz & attitude, would like a better colour.

2 Griffiths & Pesci-Griffiths Dobelands Ebony Lace. Lovely profile and lots of quality behind the ears, head a little fox terrier, ears could settle to effect and tan could be richer, lovely neck & shoulder, good topline & rib, good loin and set-on, stands well, good jacket, moved & showed pretty well.

3 Williams Saredon High Voltage.

OB (4,2)

1 Booton Boowire Mandarin Sunset. Excellent type & quality which has to be handled, well balanced throughout and a nice size, well filled up and in excellent coat, colour & hard condition particularly to thigh & gaskin, moved well. A close decision but preferred her head to 2nd. RBCC.

2 Hughes Knowlelion Almighty Martha. Very close up and a lovely stylish sort with much quality, presented in good coat and condition, moved & showed very well.
