Welsh Terrier Club Championship Show 28th September 2014.
I wish to thank the Committee for a friendly welcoming show and the exhibitors for their positive support at my first Welsh Terrier CC allocated show.
I do not usually hold with making a preamble before any critiques, but being involved in the breed for many years and holding it dear to my heart I wish to highlight a couple of areas that were of surprising repetitive concern from class to class. Weak fore faces and especially weak under jaws with small teeth are an issue as it is already affecting the quality of a correct scissor bite. Short ribbing leading to over long weak loin areas and worryingly weak hocks - rear movement overall was poor. We need to remember what Welsh Terriers were bred to do, and these repetitive issues will lead to Welsh Terriers not being fit for function. Overall coat textures were good, and breed type was pleasing to see and presentation on the whole was good.
Very pleasing to see new faces in the ring, lets hope they gain some support and continue their interest.

Quality young male of good breed type. Upto size which highlights his immaturity. Excellent coat and good pigmentation presented in good order. Good eye and ear giving game expression, correct & good sized dentition, well proportioned head, good strength to fore face and under jaw. well balanced just needs plenty of time for his pleasing frame to fill. Sound moving front and back. Sure to have a successful future.

1st, BPB, BPIS. FELSTEAD PRIM.
Would take this puppy home in a heart beat. Quality bitch of excellent breed type. Very immature and puppyish in her ring craft, and distracted by ringside events in the challenge which denied her higher honours on the day. Classic head and expression, good eye and ears - better use of ears will come with experience. Good neck and lay back of shoulder, well ribbed, short loin good strength through body for a babe. Good bone but feminine throughout. Sound moving when settled. A bright future awaits.
2nd, BOOWIRE IMPERIAL ROYALE AT TILLMONT (IMP FR)
Up to size girl but remains feminine. Well proportioned head, good eye and correct dentition. Would prefer a smaller ear. Balanced but size highlights her immaturity. Good coat texture and pigmentation, well presented, moved well in front.
Junior Bitch, 4 (1)
1st, SAREDON DELILAH
Well proportioned bitch of good size. Good dentition, good bone, well ribbed, short loin good strength throughout. moved well in front.
2nd, SAREDON DESERT BLOOM
Another well balanced and well proportioned feminine bitch of good size, with good bone. Good head proportions, good head planes. Good coat, some extra furnishings not helping the appearance of her front movement. Moved well in front and in profile. Forward temperament, moved out with purpose.
3rd, STANSTEAD MISS WHIPLASH
Yearling Bitch, 1(0)
1st & Res CC. WIGMORE LADY
Quality bitch of good breed type, well proportioned head, good eye and correct dentition, with good sized teeth. To be critical I would prefer a slightly higher set ear. That said, this bitch was the soundest walking welsh on the day, front back and in profile. A feminine bitch with good bone and strength through pasterns and hocks. Good neck and lay of shoulder. Well ribbed up. Moved out with purpose and drive. Forward temperament. Another with a bright future.
Novice bitch, 2 (0)
1st, ALOKIN ARTS AND CRAFTS (RAF)
Feminine bitch, balanced head, good dentition, although a little large in ear. Good bone and ribbing, lost top line on move due to a little extra length. Needs more confidence walking out.
2nd, SONORRA DREAMSPELL
Heavier set bitch, but good size. Well proportioned head, ears need to settle, movement not good today.
Post Graduate Bitch, 1 (0)
1st, SAREDON PRINCESS PAM
Balanced feminine bitch with good bone.Good head planes and welsh expression. Moves soundly but needs more drive in rear.
Limit Bitch, 3 (1)
1st, ELLENSIDE MAID IN CHELSEA
Some what elegant bitch for a welsh. Good size. Well proportioned head, with classic expression, lovely eye and well set ears. Good lay of shoulder, good depth and spring of ribbing but short of ribbing, giving length to loin. Moved well in front, but lack of strength through hocks evident in rear movement. Would prefer more bone and strength overall. In excellent trim and condition. Makes the picture across the ring.
2nd, ALOKIN AT SUNRISE
Well sized substantial bitch. Heavier set throughout than 1st, let down in head and front movement.
Open Bitch, 3(0)
1st, BCC & ResBIS CWMNIAETH FALLEN ANGEL
Feminine bitch of good bone and typical breed type. Excellent coat and colour. Classical head and expression. Moved soundly front and back, with purpose. Forward temperament. Body well ribbed up, short loin good strength throughout body. Quality bitch throughout.
2nd, ALOKIN ALIVE AND KICKING
Feminine bitch with good breed type. Good head and expression, correct dentition. Clean shoulders, good depth and spring of rib. Another where rear strength let her down in movement on the day, thus not called to challenge for Res CC.
3rd, ESKWYRE DASH OF CLASS.
Veteran Bitch, No Entries.
