WELSH SOUTHERN COUNTIES 21 Judge(s): HOWARD OGDEN Just a quick word to thank you for the support, with such quality exhibits, that makes for valuable ‘hands on’ experience where, like me, you see judging as a constant learning curve. 1 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Real Deal. Two and a half yrs, rectangular head of 50:50 proportions, well placed ear, dark, almond eye, good forehand, squarely built with some substance, excellent coarse jacket, well angulated rear to push off a strong hock, smart, parallel movement, a quality exhibit. Res BD. 2 O’Connell’s Darwyn The Best Is Yet To Come. Bang on 2 yrs, less typical, thicker through skull, very good front, level, excellent jacket, longer and heavier built, rather straight in rear, limited positivity on the move. 1 Snow’s Ch Perrisblu The Butler. Just on 3 yrs, an education for me as the breed standard came to life as this immaculately turned out exhibit, and handler to be fair, entered the ring, rectangular through entire head, correctly set and carried ear, dark, almond eyes set well apart, excellent mouth, in top physical form, being mature in body with substance and hard muscle, short back, strong loin, good in rib and depth but not too wide, ideal neck and forehand, as balanced by rear angulation, hard jacket, bang on tail set, pushed off a firm hock on cat feet, effortless, parallel mover and on his toes and aware at all times. BD, BOB and G2. 1 Hotchin & O’Connell’s Knowlelion Skys The Limit. 11 mths, half sister to LD, so feminine and promising with nothing worth changing, lovely rectangular headpiece, good in skull, eye and ear, fraction shorter muzzled in accordance with her sex, beautifully clean bodylines to go over, excellent neck and forehand, well ribbed up, short, level and square, good thigh, excellent jacket, gave an ‘on her toes’ performance of effortless parallel action with reach and drive, surely title bound. Res BB, BPIB, PG4. 1 Evans’ Pendevour Paris. 13 mths, lovely eye set in rectangular, yet feminine head that was truly ‘all of a piece’, good in neck and shoulder, rather barrel ribbed that is just part of her teenager stage development, her overall conformation is good, excellent jacket, can firm at elbow coming on, just not so positive on the move as yet but that will come with further shows, promising. 1 Spragg’s Westpenn Black Magic Woman. 2 yrs, full of breed type, good head shape, correct in the details of ears, eyes and stop, good neck and forehand, well bodied and ribbed back, bit of a backside behind a well set on tail, close coated, just came on a touch elbowy, very secure in rear. 1 Spragg’s Ch Westpenn Sugar Mama. Just on 4 yrs, full sister to the PG winner, cracking b, beautifully conditioned and presented, privileged to go over a female Welsh of this quality as part of my ongoing experience, excellent head being entirely rectangular with ears carried close to cheek and almond eyes, pretty wide apart, slight arch to neck, clean front, well ribbed up, deep, strong loin, coarse, close jacket, well angulated rear to drive off a firm hock so as to move soundly, smart, balanced and squarely compact.
