WELSH SKC MAY 23 Judge: Mr A Vernall Thank you to SKC for their kind invite to judge this breed for the first time with Challenge Certificates, thanks to my stewards Ken and Steph. This was the best entry in Scotland (22) for many years and I thank the exhibitors for their support and how they gracefully took my decisions. I noted bites and jaws were good with large strong teeth, pigment was good and feet were cat like with deep strong pads, bone was ample, some were a bit overdone, coats were good. 1. Averis/Barker’s Saredon Heritage. 17 months, very promising, compact, good head, moved well but lacked enthusiasm, spooked and withdrew from the challenge, his day will come. 2. Roe’s Dezrez Say You Say Me. 17 months, a happy dog, longer cast, good head, neat ears, needs to strengthen in front action, good rear in lovely coat. 3. Bennett/Innes’ Jodean Commando at Bolhaus. 1. Nitka/Schmid’s Omar Vom Granitfelsen. Sound, workmanlike dog, strong Welsh head, good neck, tidy front, well ribbed up, strong loin, tail on top, would prefer an almond eye. 2. Plumbly’s Bolhaus Sedbergh Scholar. Robust type, strong head, not using his ears, would prefer a better lay back of shoulder and would like a little more drive, good coat and well handled. 1. Roe’s Dezrez Prodigal Son. Stallion type, great Welsh head and expression, used his tidy ears, moved well, well made body, could be a little more compact, well put down, pushed hard for RDCC. 1. Robertson’s Renevis Rollercoaster. The star of the day, good Welsh head and expression, super compact outline, nicely back of shoulder, great top-line, tail on top, good bend of stifle, short hocks, good coat and colour, in gleaming condition, he just reached and drove while wagging his way to the top, DCC & BOB and later Group 1. 2. Davani/Potts’ Kebulak Black Orpheus. Smart, cobby, strong quarters, steady on the move, should do well, preferred the expression of first, presented in two class order, RDCC. 3. Wildash’s Bravo Burnett On Fire. 1. Robertson’s Tiltser Caffe Americano at Renevis. A baby minor puppy, 7 months, very raw, flat skull and balanced feminine Welsh head, tidy ears, good top-line and tail set, good shape and balance, has time to tighten in movement, BP. 2. Young/McCluskey’s London Baby from Michel at Chadbrook TAF. 11 months, pleasing head, needs to learn to use her ears, a shade longer cast, lacked drive today, good coat and colour. 3. Bennett/Innes’ Bolhaus Royal Riot. 1. Burnside’s Belle De Jour. Nice type but did not put all in due to the hall noise, lacked drive today good coat and colour, neatly presented. 1. O’Connell/Hotchin’s Knowlelion Skys The Limit. Good head and clean flat skull with good expression, well laid shoulder, good body, coat and colour, good tail set, a steady mover, showed well, handled with care, RBCC. 1. Vickers/Dams’ Jodean A Dash Of Poison. This beautifully Welsh headed bitch stood alone, great feminine expression, lovely body, good top-line, tail well set, well ribbed up, quality sound moving but she didn’t pull out the stops in the challenge for BOB, after I discovered I had the pleasure in awarding her her 3rd CC.
