WELSH JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 16

Welsh Terriers

A small entry numerically but nevertheless I had some good quality, typy Welsh Terriers to claim the top awards. Movement wasn’t great all through, several lacking reach & drive, I also found a couple with level bites which I don’t like to see in a terrier. Coat presentation, showmanship & temperaments were excellent.

MPD (0).

PD (1)

1 Humphries’ Penparc Skyfall, 11 months, quality puppy in good coat & form, lean fit body, dark eyes, keen expression, clean neck & shoulders, short back, good showman, well handled & presented. Good potential, just needs to strengthen in hind movement.

JD (2)

1 Ashton’s Kitesprite Raven Secrets, 16 months, well bodied youngster in good coat, masculine head, intelligent expression, well muscled quarters, good depth of body. Shade long cast but moved quite well, handled to advantage as was

2 Hughes’ Felstead Frankie at Mokath, 17 months, short back, bit short of face furnishings & beard which made him look finished today. Good neck, harsh jacket. Would like to see a bit more extension & power in hind movement.

PGD (1)

1 Orton’s Tiltsar Goldfinger, 18 months, excellent make & shape, good size & type, switched on showman, well proportioned. Typical head, dark eyes, good coat & presentation. Could move with more drive behind.

LD (2) A.

OD (5,2a)

1 CC & BOB, Witmond’s Boowire Ingnite My Fire at Tiltser, shortlisted & showman, 2 years, real eyecatcher, well turned out with excellent coat texture, fit body, short body, good tailset & quarters, quality head, keen expression, moved soundly, did not miss a trick here;

2 RCC, Averis’ Saredon Judgement Day, 18 months, masculine typy dog, proper Welshman, keen & alert expression, beautifully presented with hard close coat, good outline, steady showman. Not as good behind as 1;

3 Malzoni’s Akc Hampton Courts Ivy League Style.

MPB (1)

1 Gallett’s Pistols At Dawn, 8 months, so naughty today & handler had quite a job to keep her focused! Still very happy & I’m sure she’ll settle down eventually. Feminine head, good body, very fit but movement a bit erratic.

PB (2)

1 CC, Witmond’s Tiltser Million Dollar Baby, won a good class of 2, 10 months, all quality & type, good head & expression, keen dark eyes, short back, well proportioned, on her toes & showing nonstop, very promising, I was delighted to hear she went BPIS under a Welsh Terrier specialist;

2 Davies’ Perrisblu Delilah, only 7 months so giving quite a lot of age away here. Attractive head, keen eye, well presented with firm body. Not as settled on the move as 1 but showed nicely when something took her interest.

JB (3,1)

1 Young & Potts’ Kebulak Fallen Angel, yearling bitch, well presented, could use her ears better. Well put together & moved quite well;

2 Collins’ Colldale Boudica, smaller bitch, good body but failed in movement generally, very feminine. Bit overdone inn colouring.

PGB (5,1)

1 Spragg’s Westpenn If You Be My Baby, 21 months, attractive young bitch with much to like, good head & eye, firm body, tail on top, moved & showed well;

2 Robertson’s Renevis Rhapsody, nearly 2, quality head, never stopped showing, but with a will of her own; 3 Thomas’ Saredon Desert Bloom at Somerwel.

LB (1)

1 RCC, Davies & Bradley’s Perrisblu Coco, stood alone here but a typy bitch who could hold her own in better company. Feminine, good outline & proportions, neat package with good quarters & tailset, moved & showed well, well presented. Just needs a little more face furnishings for the ultimate picture.

OB (3,1)

1 Byrne’s Eskwyre A Dash Of Class, 2 years, showy & focused, good head & expression, excellent coat & condition, well muscled quarters, free mover. Preferred type of puppy & LB winner;

2 Pearce, Hughes & Sinclair’s Ir Ch Demorner Klass Act, shorter backed than 1 but winter nose & half bald ears detracted from overall picture, firm body. Showed well, could move with a bit more power behind.
