WELSH NATIONAL TERRIER 14 Judge(s): W R IRVING Welsh Terriers The entry of 36 was very pleasing & quality at the top end was very good. Some exhibits in the lower classes need a bit more ring training to complete the picture MPD (2) 1 Shaw’s Alokin Alchemy, bigger dog than 2 & must not grow on, not too bad in front, OK in topline & pleasing in head. Good tail carriage & enough bend of stifle & well muscled. Went a little close behind, but better there than 2 2 Jones’ Felstead Caio Dyma Fi at Cwnogion, has a good deal to like about him, but needs time to settle & develop a bit more ring discipline. Good neck & topline & correct in rib. Hindquarters a bit close & tail carried far too much over the back. Needs to learn to move straight up & down. PD (2) This was a difficult class to judge where one scored in some departments where the other failed & vice versa. 1 Ashton’s Red Kite to Kitesprite, not as good in head as 2 or in topline but was much better in front & moved better there & behind. Good neck, could be shorter in back; 2 Crabtree’s Brocolitia Revenge, stood up better than 1 & was better in topline but was not good in front & that was where I penalised him today. He was also carrying a shade too much weight. Plenty of bend of stifle, good tail & tail carriage. If he tightens up in front & loses some of that weight the positions could well change. JD (2) 1 Shackell & Redman’s Romaunt Waking The Dead, could be better in skull but OK in foreface, good neck, enough coat. Moved well enough in front, was good in pasterns, feet & hindquarters. Correct tailset & carriage; 2 Brocolitia Revenge. PGD (1) A. LD (4, 1a) 1 Connell’s Sonorra Danny Dazzler, very pleasing dog of good size, correct head & expression, good neck & topline, correct tailset & moved well behind. Enough bend of stifle & good in front with enough bone & correct pasterns. Well proportioned in body & excellent coat. Moved out pretty well & went on to win the RCC; 2 Varey’s Sonorra Charlie Brown, this one misbehaved & needs much more ring discipline before it can be properly considered. Very good, however, in neck & topline, correct in tailset. Seemed OK in front but because of behaviour it was difficult to assess his movement. OD (5) 1 Potts’ Ir Ch Kebulak Trigger Happy, dog with a good neck, topline & tailset, moved well in front & was well constructed there with good pasterns, enough bone & good feet. In good coat without being overdone, pleasing in hindquarters with enough substance. Well proportioned in body & scored in head. Went on to win CC & BOB; 2 Chong & Wong’s Mal/Th/Ina/Vn/Che Ch Aman Raider Of The Lost Ark, very smart & showy dog, OK in head & expression. Needed a shade more coat to complete the picture. Good in neck & topline & tailset. Moved out OK both in front & behind; 3 Hughes & Pearce’s Demorner Hats Off. MPB (2,1) 1 Riley’s Sonorra Dream Spell, OK in skull & foreface but not using her ears at all well, reasonable in topline & tailset. Could be better in front. OK in coat for age but needs a whole lot more ring discipline & training which will no doubt come with time. PB (3) 1 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Keep It Secret, a neat little bitch, very pleasing in head & good in neck & topline, coat coming in well. Better size & showed better than 2. Moved very well behind & OK in front. Good feet & pasterns. Good head & ears & correct proportions. Went on to be BP; 2 Graham’s Stanstead Miss Whip Lash, a bigger bitch who did not behave well moving in this class. Good in coat, good in head & skull. Difficult to assess her movement because of her behaviour. Looked good standing in front. Good in topline & had enough angulation behind. JB (4,1) 1 Evans’ Sonorra Kitty Korset, a neat bitch but shown with some excess coat which didn’t enhance her overall body shape. Very pleasing in head & expression with good foreface. Correct ears, OK in eye. Good front & moved out very well; 2 Collins’ Saredon Holly And Ivy of Collmile, not shown in good coat, but better in topline & presented a better picture moving in profile than 3, who was a shade overbuilt & heavy over the shoulder. This one has a pleasing head & skull. Moved well behind but coat not at its best; 3 Hughes’ Cwmniaeth Coffi Hufen at Mokath. PGB (2,1) 1 Jardine-Smith’s Lacus Luck Lady, OK in neck & topline. A little bit heavy in skull & large in eye & with ears not always used to best advantage. Tail could be better. OK in bone & feet. Moved well enough behind. Well muscled behind. LB (5,2) 1 Potts’ Kebulak Femme Fatale, could have a bit less fineness throughout but moved well enough in front & behind, OK in foreface, very good in neck & topline & presented a smart outline. Good hindquarters with enough angulation; 2 Witmond’s Tiltser Jubilee, pleasing & typical in head & expression, good neck & front, could hold topline better at times & could be better in eye. Good in coat but did not stride out quite so well as 1 when moving. Better in front than 3 Ashton’s Kitesprite Flights Of Fancy. OB (6, 2) 1 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Calamity Jane, very pleasing in head & skull, pleasing in eye & expression, good neck & front assembly, enough bone & good compact feet, really good in topline. Set on of tail OK. Pleasing in outline & proportions. Moved around the ring well & was just a shade better in front & behind than 2. CC; 2 Avveduti & Sarycheva’s It/Fr/Lux Ch Cunnings Diana, a very good showy bitch, plenty of strength of jaw, very good neck & topline, excellent coat, plenty of hind angulation but moved just a shade close behind & not perfect at elbow coming towards you, but good proportions & presented a very showy picture indeed. RCC; 3 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Bertha Brainbox. RONNIE IRVING
