WELSH JUDGE MANCHESTER 13

Welsh Terriers.

Puppy Dog.

1. Connell’s Sonorra Danny Dazzler. In superb condition, never stopped showing, classic head, well laid shoulders, good spring of rib, level top line, tail on top, nice angulation, short hocks, really harsh jacket, covered the ground , well presented. Best Puppy.

Limit Dog.

1. Halliwell’s Wigmore April Imp. A real showman, on his toes all the time, straight front, beautiful head shape, well placed ears, strong neck flowing into correct shoulders, deep chest, well ribbed back, short loin, strong muscled quarters, well presented. CC and Best of Breed.

2. Connell’s Sonorra Dirty Harry. Difficult decision here, slightly different in type, a little more cobby, correct front, good head and ears, good shoulders and excellent spring of rib, well muscled second thigh, short hocks and tight feet, good tight jacket, moved true when settled. Reserve Best Dog.

Puppy Bitch.

1. Robertson’s Renevis Red Hot. A real baby, ears need to settle, a good size, short coupled tail on top, needs more ring training, let down by presentation.

Junior Bitch.

1. Spragg’s Westpenn Merry Go Round, won this class with ease, correct front and shoulders, pleasing head with good ear carriage, well ribbed back, deep chest, tail on top, well put down, moved and showed well.

2. Robertson’s Renevis Good As Gold. She was out of her depth in this class, so immature compared to the winner, straight front, nice head shape, good ear carriage which she used, level top line, tail on top, moved ok, needs more road work and work on her jacket, showed ok once settled.

Post Graduate Bitch.

1. Cassidy’s Alokin At Sunrise. Correct size bitch with a nice head and ears, strong neck, good spring of rib going well back, strong well muscled quarters and a good harsh jacket, moved and showed well.

Limit Bitch.

1. Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Calamity Jane. Beautiful head and well placed ears, correct shoulders, level top line, short coupled, tail on top, strong quarters, short hocks, moved well, coat quality let her down today.

2. Barney’s Verrami Jus Toff. Straight front pleasing head and ears, enough lay back of shoulder, tail on top, another one not in her best bib and tucker, would have liked more drive behind.

Open Bitch.

1. Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Bertha Brainbox. This is where the single CC is so wrong. A beautiful specimen of the breed with a lovely head, neat ears, flowing neck into good shoulders, a really cobby type, level top line, tail on top, good bend of stifle, well put down. Best Bitch.

2. Averis’ Ch Saredon All Time High. Similar to number one, just didn’t think she performed today, shown in good hard condition, classic head and ears, good spring of rib, muscular quarters, put down to perfection.

My only criticism is that some exhibitors are trimming heads like Fox Terriers.

I think most exhibitors will be pleased when single CC’s are finished with, it has led to a drop in entries, 7 or 8 is a large number in breeds such as Lakeland and Welsh Terriers. I hope the exhibitors come back to these beautiful breeds.
