WELSH LEEDS 13 Judge: Mr M Vickers BEST OF BREED : 2700 SCAWTHORN Mr D Saredon The Shining WELSH JUDGE LEEDS 13 Welsh Terriers I know I keep rambling on about this but we need more CCs, not fewer, at all breed ch shows regardless of numbers & a ch class is required. Ears need watching as does size, some are small, Standard says: ‘Ears set on fairly high’ – we don’t want WFT ears but certainly we do not want Lakeland or Airedale ears. To me, ears can make or break an expression & that’s a big factor in defining type; that said, there are far worse faults but they do need watching. PD, JD, PGD & LD (0). OD (2) 1 Scawthorn’s Saredon The Shining, nice clean head, good ears, level topline, tail on top with a good rear, moves well & in nice coat. Just needs to grow up a bit more & body up but very young, that will come, a nice dog. CC & BOB; 2 Connell’s Sonorra Dirty Harry, another nice dog, decent head & eye, good front, topline & tailset, moves & shows well. I’d like a touch higher set ear but he uses them well, well handled & presented, wished I’d had two CCs today in males. RCC. VD (1) 1 Duigs & Kong’s Mandril Gold Hill, 11 years, enjoying his day out, clean front, level topline, tail on top, in nice coat & condition, shown well. BV. PB (3) 1 Connell’s Sonorra Slapstick, nice head, clean front, level topline, super tailset & rear, needs to improve in movement but only a baby & isn’t completely lead-trained yet, shows extremely well for her age; 2 Hughes’ Cwmniaeth Coffi Huen at Mokath, nice front, good shoulders, compact with tail on top, in grand order, needs a little more lead work, good coat; 3 Varey’s Knowlelon Hocus Pocus. JB (2) 1 Whitmond’s Tilster Jubillee, clean headed, good front, level topline, compact, good coat & colour, nice feminine sort all through. In an ideal world could be a smidgen bigger; 2 Ashton’s Kitesprite Flights Of Fancy, clean front, level topline, tail on top. Lost to 1 on movement. Very well handled & in good coat. PGB (1) 1 Spraggs’ Westpenn Merry Go Round, level topline, exceptional tailset & rear, big quarters, moved OK, in lovely order, a touch big & doggy but very typy, shows her socks off. LB (1) 1 Lester’s Saredon Princess Pam, decent head, clean front, good topline & tailset, in nice coat & condition, well handled. OB (3) 1 Allen & Poole’s Sonorra Miss Mischief at Penparc, nice head, clean front, level topline, nice tailset with shelf behind, good coat & colour, coat & trim the best in the entry. To be hypercritical, could have a slightly higher set ear & a touch more up on the foreleg, that said she shows non-stop using her ears all the time, sound & well deserves her 3rd CC, am sure the founder of the Penparc affix would have been very proud, a real showgirl. CC; 2 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Bertha Brainbox, good front, level topline, tail on top with plenty behind, very good coat & colour, well presented, I couldn’t get her to use her ears, nice type with lots to like about her. I could have awarded three CCs in this class, beat a nice 3rd placed bitch on front movement, bodyweight & substance, all three should get there. RCC; 3 Robertson’s Reneves Good As Gold.
