Welsh Terriers - Darlington Championship Show – 13th September 2025
Not a large entry which unfortunately is fairly usual these days, but it was made up for in the quality of the exhibits.
Class 1005 OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 2507 COLE, Ms Claire : Ch Perrisblu The Phantom - An outstanding mature male presented in excellent condition throughout, he is a joy to go over. So well balanced and has a stunning silhouette, fits the standard in all areas, fantastic head shape, small dark eye, well set ears which he used all the time, has a strong powerful jaw, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, strong and level topline with well set on tail, deep chest and plenty of substance throughout, his front is as straight as a die with complementing rear angulation, he has such a thick wiry coat in excellent condition, went around the ring like a dream. CC & BOB + Terrier Group 1 and Res Best in Show
2nd: 2513 SCHONEBERG, Mr F W : Paperman Arteon - Another cracker to go over, slightly smaller in build than 1, but in super proportions, presented to perfection, his head stands out, so typical, small dark eye giving an excellent expression, well angulated shoulders, short coupled with well set on tail of good length which added to the overall balance, super straight front and well angulated rear, he moved freely with good reach and drive from behind. Class 1008 JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 2510 SPRAGG, Mr P Westpenn : Sweet Little Angel – A lovely feminine 15month bitch, lots to like about her, she is ok for size and has a super outline. Scores in shape and proportions of head, with small well set on ears which she used well, dark eye, enough strength in her jaw with excellent teeth and bite, has a good length of neck into well angulated shoulders, still needs to mature some more, was a little giddy moving in front, has good rear angulation with plenty of drive.
Class 1009 PGB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 2514 HAYAKAWA, Mr - Charleston JP : Kaffir Lily – Has a good head shape, flat and of good width, ears small and correct shape, could have been used to advantage. Small dark eye, very good dentition, lovely length of neck with slight arch, straight front, good depth of chest and well ribbed up, very well angulated rear, moved well and covered the ground.
Class 1010 LB (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 2508 HARRISON, Mr Adrian : Gaelic Rose - A smart bitch, feminine throughout with good bone and substance, good for size and presented very well. Typical head of good proportions, ears could be a touch higher, strong neck into well laid shoulders, good topline and tailset, has a good depth of chest with enough heart room, strong and muscular hind quarters with enough behind, moved very freely around the ring.
2nd: 2509 ROBERTSON, Mrs J : Cunnings Xeeyou At Renevis (imp Ita) - She was unsettled in the class and bouncing around, has a lovely head shape, dark eye giving a feminine expression, level topline with well set on tail, not quite the substance of 1 and looked to have quite long legs which made her a touch rangey,
3rd: 2511 SPRAGG, Mr P Westpenn Seven Stars
Class 1011 OB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 2506 ALLEN, Mr Edward : Monaline Emma At Penparc (Imp Serb) - I thought this bitch fitted the standard really well, she is up to size, has a lovely outline and is balanced throughout, has an excellent head shape and expression, dark eye and well placed ears which she used to advantage, strong jaw with excellent teeth and bite, good length of neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, level and firm topline with well set on tail, straight front, good depth of chest, well ribbed up and has super rear quarters, as she settled her front movement coming towards was excellent, she moved freely in profile, with drive from behind. To be critical, her coat needs to come through some more, but was wiry, hard and close fitting. CC
2nd: 2512 VICKERS, Ms Joanne & DAMS, Mr N : Jodean Aquarius – A lovely bitch presented in excellent coat and condition with super furnishings, she is balanced throughout, feminine head and expression, small dark eye, well set on and carried ears, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, short and level back, straight front in profile and good rear angulation, the ground was soaking and she was lifting her front feet which just destracted from the overall picture.
