WELSH JUDGE BLACKPOOL 12

Welsh Terriers

A small entry of 21 dogs but the quality was quite good & I was more than happy with my top winners. Although leggier than the other two terrier breeds I judged the Welsh Terriers were not at all keen to move through the deep muddy holes. We moved to another ring which looked slightly better but in no time this one too was reduced to a muddy mess.

PD (2)

1 Roe’s Dezrez I Predict A Riot, 11 month, very smart youngster who showed non stop, keen & alert at all times, dark intelligent eyes, neat ears, strong body, short back, beautifully presented coat, moved well. BP.

PGD (2)

1 Draper’s Russtam Simply A Prince, rather plain in head & outlook, too big all round & a bit long cast. Good coat texture, steady temperament. Not moving with any terrier spirit.

LD (4)

1 Connell’s Sonorra Dirty Harry, very smart young Welshman, switched on showman, in good form, excellent coat, clean neckline, short back, keen expression, well handled, moved well;

2 Williams’ Taicligh Star Trooper, dark intelligent eyes, lovely coat texture, well shown & handled, firm body. Picking his way through the puddles;

3 Heath’s Cannyyatton Hot Shot for Jolliver.

OD (2)

1 See’s Am Ch Seebest Avenger, the star of the day, showed his head off, tail on top & about the only one who seemed to be enjoying himself. Well balanced, clean neck & shoulders, firm body & topline, typical head, bright eyes, keen expression, well presented, strong quarters. Took a bit of time to settle on the move but very sound once he found his stride. CC & BOB;

2 Witmond’s Tiltser The Highlander, stylish youngster, in good shape, attentive showman who responded well to his handler, well proportioned, attractive head. Could use his ears to better advantage. Hard coat, fit body. Picked his way in the wet but sound enough when he got going. RCC.

PB (4)

1 Spragg’s Westpenn Merry Go Round, well bodied puppy of 8 month, nice head, intelligent expression, plenty behind the tail, very good quarters, moved & showed OK;

2 Varley & Colclough’s Shumand Storybook Love, quality puppy of 11 month, dark eyes, feminine head, good coat, body & condition, well presented. Not moving as well behind as 1;

3 Humphries’ Serbonche Harvest Gold.

PGB (1)

1 Humphries’ Felstead Floral Beauty, neat looking bitch, excellent body, feminine head but not using her ears or wanting to cooperate on the move.

LB (4)

1 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Bertha Brainbox, eye catching bitch, in very good form, quality head, very well turned out, good coat & body, short back, stylish & positive, moved well;

2 Allen & Poole’s Sonorra Miss Mischief at Penparc, feminine youngster, good tailset & body, good head, intelligent eyes, well muscled, fit & focused, moved OK;

3 Ashton’s Jolliver The Lady In Red at Kitesprite.

OB (3)

1 Poole’s Ch Alokin August Morning, lovely type, real Welsh, super head, eyes & ears, hard coat, well ribbed up, short back, in good form, gassy showgirl, well handled. CC;

2 Hughes & Pearce’s Knowlelion Calamity Jane, beautifully presented & coated, cooperative showgirl, at one with her handler, well proportioned, good feet, well muscled & very fit, keen dark eyes, pretty head. Just preferered true Welsh expression of 1. RCC.
