SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE SOUTH WALES 09

Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers

JD (2)

Difficult class to judge. 1 scored on maturity & coat & 2 had the edge on movement.

1 Whitehead’s Shanghai Shoggoth, almost out of Junior, balanced outline, nice head, coat of good colour, covered in soft waves as the Standard requires. Movement not his strength;

2 Boulton’s Amberstar Yellow Submarine, just out of Puppy, a lot of maturing still to do, loved his personality, still looking like a gangly youngster, finer than 1, coat still needs to mature in colour & texture. In profile has the long low strides the Standard requires but more unsettled than I have seen him previously.

PGD (5)

1 Mason’s Emalot Tommy Tango, on entering the ring I did not think this dog would be my winner but upon examination I was very impressed with his substance, bone & overall outlook. Very mature, strong head, nice pigment & dentition, strong rear, moving with drive. Coat still very immature but the rest of him made up for it;

2 Clarke’s Loofahsa Scaramouche, slightly smaller build, similar comments apply, coat colour & softness coming through but not so positive on the move, will be interested to see how both of these males mature;

3 Lawrence’s Snowmeadow Numinous Niilo.

OD (6,1)

1 Dunhill’s Fantasa Blonde Kaos, well presented male, lovely outline, coat & colour, nice head, dark eye & pigment, best of dentition, level topline, strong quarters, super mover, positively floated. CC, BOB & G4;

2 Barrett’s Ch Loofahsa Teenage Dirtbag, dog I have liked & placed highly previously, smaller than 1 all round but nicely balanced for size, I like my boys to be substantial but there is no detracting from this lad’s qualities, everything in the right place, lovely mature coat, steady mover. RCC;

3 Herbert’s Ch Caidantes That’s Ma Boy.

PB (2,1)

1 Munn’s Snowmeadow Oola O’Luna, sweet baby, still preferring to fidget rather than stand but enjoying her day. Super coat for a youngster, colour, softness & waves in abundance, balanced head, good eye & pigment. Moved OK when settled. BP.

JB (4,2)

1 Satherley’s Tobamorrey’s Sitting Pretty at Silkcroft, this young lady has many positive attributes, super outline presenting a lovely picture, liked her head, length of neck & balance. Coat just starting to enter that junior stage. Best mover in the class in profile. Lacking the ring presence & sparkle in the challenge that I have seen previously, I gather she has been quite poorly on the way to the show. Must have a bright future;

2 William’s Brynhir Jumaana Gold Pearl, well presented bitch, nice outline. Coat still needs to mature & develop. Liked her rear movement, just needs time, a little reserved & unsettled for her handler.

PGB (6,1)

1 Smith’s Janeyjimjams Jasmina, a popular win given the reaction of the exhibitors, I gather this is her first outing in this class, held her own, particularly liked her balance & movement, pretty bitch with lots to like, nothing exaggerated, sunny disposition. Coat nicely coloured but felt a little dry, regular use of a good conditioner should help to rectify this, for preference I would like to see a little more length of coat, watch the trimming above the tail;

2 Tilley’s Starzak Solid Gold EZ Action, more mature bitch with nice profile, pretty head, plenty of coat, soft but lacking a little in colour. I have seen her move like a train but movement let her down here, couldn’t settle into her stride.

LB (3,1)

1 Emalot Jean Genie, this young lady has it all there, I can see why she has 2 CCs, top for size but her balance & stature complement this, strong head & front, level topline, very attractive coat in texture & wave, trimmed to accentuate its attributes, covered ground well. CC winner took the edge on femininity & movement. RCC;

2 Brown’s Chymidas Linel Stardancer at Carkbark, smaller than 1, overall pleasing young lady who seemed a little flat. Nice head, good pigment, coat maturing well, soft but not the colour & wave of 1. Movement OK but lacked drive.

OB (7)

Most pleasing & strongest class of the day for quality. Type differed but I had a nice selection to choose from.

1 Roger’s Ch Kiazzahla Katinka, at almost 6 she has really blossomed, preferred her brother as a puppy, she did well in a strong class last time I judged, ticked all of the boxes here. Solidly built, ratio of bone to size good, strong topline & loins, prettiest of heads, beautiful coat in colour & texture, could not be faulted on movement, showed personality plus. CC;

2 Dunhill’s Fantasa Blonde Krackers, litter sister to my CC winner, has many of his positive attributes but slightly lacking his ring presence, showmanship & a little of his confidence, this kennel has certainly stamped its type on the breed. Pretty young lady with coat maturing nicely, moved effortlessly. For preference would like to see her carrying a little more weight;

3 Munn’s Ch/Ir Ch Snowmeadow Jellybean Jilly.
