SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE DARLINGTON 10

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers

I would like to express my thanks to those who entered their dogs, I really enjoyed my day and I am sorry that I had to rush back to work after the judging. I would also like to apologise for the lateness of these notes, which again is due to heavy work commitments.

In general there is still a lot of variation in size and presentation. I was surprised to see that some had pale eyes or lacked the correct pigmentation around eye rims and lips, although on the whole I felt that mouths were okay

Veteran Dog (2) abs 0

1. Johnson, Fantasa Blonde Fagin: Hard to believe he s just shy of 9! Standing square with good head, correct pigment and teeth. Deep chest. Coat with correct wave and shine. Moved out well.

2. Whitehead, Finchwood Special Style: At 14 this dog is a credit to his owners. Shown in excellent condition. Square outline and good for type. Quality coat.

Minor Puppy Dog no entries

Puppy Dog (3) abs 1

1. Sargent & Dunhill-Hall, Fantasa Blonde Mulligan: Top end for size and alittle unsettled today. Strong, masculine head with dark eye and big black nose. Good rear angulation. Good length of coat.

2. Johnson, Garsayno Gold Freeman: Correct size. Nice head, good length of neck. Well ribbed. Coat trimmed short which gave a plush quality, and he was unsettled on the move today.

Junior Dog (2) abs 1

1. Carter, Chloeanco Hunni Dream: Beautifully presented. Lovely head, with correct flat skull, and correct eye, excellent mouth. Good length of neck, good shoulder placement, deep chest, level topline with tail set on top. Quality coat.
Moved well. Shame he stood alone, but a deserving winner, in contention for RCC, but felt that he needed a little more maturity as befits his age. One to watch.

Post Graduate Dog (2) abs 0

1. Fletcher, Keridown Shaken Not Stirred: Good for size and shape, which ensured his placing. Coat pale and a little plushy. Not striding out today.

2. Woods, Fantasa Blonde Lancelot: At the top end for size but very masculine. Not sure he knew what was expected of him so he gave his handler a hard time; needs schooling. He was not steady on the move, and close behind. The trim on his head today did not flatter him, but this can be easily remedied.

Limit Dog (5) abs 0

1. Hanna, Kinalan Quietly Does It: Very masculine, honest dog. Fab coat that had a sheen and felt silky to touch. Flat skull, deep pigmentation, strong teeth. Nice hindquarters. Powerful and well muscled throughout. Moved round the ring with purpose to win CC

2. Clarke, Loofahsa Scaramouche: Another one giving his handler a hard time. Square outline. Good head and length of neck into good shoulders. Nice rear angulation, moved well at the points when he settled.

3. Hobson, Abiqua Wild Knight Romance

Open Dog (2) abs 1

1. Dunhill, Ch Fantasa Blonde Kaos: Presented in immaculate condition. Square outline, with good head, good front, level topline and good tailset. Quality coat of correct colour, which had a lovely sheen in the sun. Moved well. RCC

Veteran Bitch (1) Abs 0

1. Honycomb Zig Zag: Very feminine, well put together and seemed to enjoy her day. Moved steadily.

Minor Puppy Bitch (4) abs 1

1. Watkins, Zaraslake Bellissima: Sweet puppy, pretty head, lovely neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Level topline with good rear quarters. Moved out well. Coat trimmed very short.

2. Wassall, Emalot Little Miss Magic: Feminine and very typical, shows promise and could exchange places with 1 on a different occasion.

3. Kehoe, Kiluan Tamsin Killeshin

Puppy Bitch no entries

Junior Bitch (3) abs 2

1. Watkins Chloeanco Hunni Caress for Zaraslake: Showed her socks off when standing. Good head, with dark eye, lovely neck, shoulders and deep chest, level topline with well set on tail. Coat trimmed very short, making it difficult to assess, although this could be to do with stage of development. Moved out well.

Post Graduate Bitch (5) abs 0

1. Moran, Abiqua Wild In A Satin Sash: Lovely for size and very feminine. Square outline, Nice head with deep pigmentation, straight front, good neck and shoulders level topline and good movement.

2. Munn, Snowmeadow Oolla O Luna: Larger bitch, but good for type, with a good head and expression. Good neck and shoulders, Very fidgety today.

3. Salisbury & Kehoe, Orliscwt Goldilocks: Loved this bitch very feminine head with lovely pigmentation. Nicely made with level topline and good tailset. Wavy, soft coat. She moved well, but wouldn t raise her tail, otherwise she would have been higher up the line.

Limit Bitch (7) abs 1

1. Withington, Fantasa Blonde Lilley, Her movement caught my eye as she circled the ring, she really strides out. Typical head, good neck and shoulders. Needs to mature in body. Coat pale.

2. Morrey, Tobamorrey Aint I Precious, Smaller than 1 and it was a close call between these two bitches. I m sure her moment will come. She has a square outline, typical head with good pigment and correct bite. Nice reach of neck, shoulders well laid. Shortcoupled. Nice movement.

3. Satherley,Tobamorrey Sitting Pretty at Silkcroft

Open Bitch (8) abs 0

1. Bradford Abiqua Wild Lace Effect: Beautifully presented. Nice for size and very feminine. Lovely head with good pigmentation, good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Level topline, good rear angulation, well set tail. Good length of coat tidied into a neat outline. She is a mover, but she still likes to play making it hard work for her handler!
This is the one I would like to have taken home with me. CC & BOB

2. Hanna, Ch Kinalan Quietly Confident, another close call in this class. Larger than 1, but nicely proportioned. Good head, dark eye and pigment. Good shoulder placement, well bodied throughout and excellent movement. RCC

3. Dowdy and Dowdy, Denzilly Toot Sweet.
