SOFT COATED WHEATEN CRUFTS 2010 Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Judge(s): MRS Z THORN-ANDREWS Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers Three lovely boys. 1 Hammond & Evans’ Ch Caidantes Dream Come True at Calvenace, still so sound & active moving at 12 years, in grand coat, correct head proportions with his muzzle slightly shorter than backskull, good angles, showing well; 2 Johnson’s Ch/Ir Ch Fantasa Blonde Fagin, a mite more forward in shoulder but a true mover, in immaculate coat & body condition, good head & neck, OK in rear, lovely low hocks; 3 Patterson’s Ch/Ir Ch Amberstar Paperback Writer. PD (3,1) 1 Carter’s Chloeanco Hunni Dream, smart puppy, maybe ears set a touch high & needs to relax a little. Good neck, OK in front, nicely bodied & short strong loin, well set tail, reasonable coat, moved out well; 2 Woods’ Fantasa Blonde Lancelot, bigger boy, needs more body & his nails cutting. Coat very woolly & needs to break into loose curls. Close moving in rear but OK for stride in profile. JD (4) 1 Fletcher’s Keridown Shaken Not Stirred, good size & type, a bit forward in shoulder & he roaches his back up. Good height to length proportions, sound moving, pleasing head & eyes set nicely, good bone & feet; 2 Hart’s Weatawaite Little Boy Blue, a bad colour & hope it clears as he has a lot of black in his head & back coat. Moved OK in front, nice angles in rear, level backline. Folds his ears somewhat; 3 Taylor’s Pippajam Break On Through. YD (4) 1 Hobson’s Abiqua Wild Knight Romance, nice size & square proportions. Coat can still develop some loose curls but texture better than the rest in the class. Still has some black in his face. Good dark pigment, not too long in muzzle, deep enough in chest, fair front & rear. Tail a bit curly but set nicely; 2 Paterson’s Kellynack The Fantastic Fox, even woollier coat & tail although straighter was a little low set. Nicely ribbed & short loin. Movement can still tighten up somewhat; 3 Coulbert’s Janeyjimjams Jazzbo. PGD (5) 1 Glew’s Wentloog Mozambique at Braelochyen, good size & type. Topline could be a wee bit more level but his proportions were good. Bone & feet of the best, powerful impressive mover, super coat; 2 Warman’s Glendown Butterball Brown, magnificent coat texture & it really does feel like silk. Folds his ears & his tail is set a little low. I admired his tremendous muscletone & powerful driving movement; 3 Salisbury’s Orliscwt Bobbin Along. LD (13,2) 1 Hanna’s Kinaelan Quietly Does It, a real powerhouse of a terrier, hard, fit to work, stands foursquare & held himself beautifully every time I looked at him, a true ‘Irish’ from tip to toe & he performed beautifully. Brother to the BCC I see. RCC; 2 Clarke’s Loofahsa Scaramouche, good stamp of dog, short coupled, good legs & feet. Has a lot of black in his facial hair. Neat ears, good neck, sound active mover; 3 Watkins, Hammond & Evans’ Calvenace Leapy Lee. OD (13,2) 1 Dalton’s Ir Ch Feanaro Niallan Naomhan, smashing dog, a real ‘here I am’ & ‘what are you going to give me’. Super for size, proportions of head, ears, neck & front all first class, great coat, great mover & what an attitude. CC & BOB; 2 Evans’ Ir Ch Hobel Joe O’Brien, similar stamp of terrier, his ears not quite up to the winners but I loved his stance, foursquare, excellent level back, powerful driving movement, gorgeous coat & colour, a lovely boy all through; 3 Cox’s Ch Riabee Sagittarian Comet. GCD (2) 1 Cross’ Starcadia Willow Pickwick; 2 Kenneally’s Loofahsa Hakuna Matata. VB (9,2) What a class, the best veteran class I have ever judged I think. All a credit to their owners. 1 Allen’s Ch Emalot Diva Queen of Swandare, super all round, hard & fit, excellent type & quality, moved so well. Well deserved the RCC at 10 years; 2 Hanna’s Brockholme Feirin to Kinaelan, another beauty, showing like a dream, in super coat & condition. A mite close going away but otherwise very close up; 3 Brooks’ Ch Frontline She Who Dares with Loofahsa. PB (4) All very sound pups of correct proportions & size. 1 Munn’s Snowmeadow Oolla O’Luna, had the best coat, falling in soft waves, pleasing head, not too long in foreface, clean back skull, ears set nicely just touching cheeks, good legs & feet, nice straight tail, moved with some purpose & very true. BP; 2 Withington’s Fantasa Blonde Lilley, good pup but coat is incorrect, woolly & thick & not the texture required. Nice baby, moving well; 3 Watkins’ Chloeanco Hunni Caress for Zaraslake. JB (7,2) 1 Morrey’s Tobymorrey Aint I Precious, good size, I liked her head & eyes, good pigment, sound front & rear. Coat still a little woolly but seems as if it will improve to me. Nice quality girl; 2 Noyes’ Pippajam Midnight Rose, very thick coat & she is a trifle longer in back. It is level & she moved OK. Holds herself well with good head carriage, deep enough for age & a lovely tail. Hope her coat settles in a few more months; 3 Taylor’s Amberstar Eight Days A Week. YB (9) A bit of a mixture here & some coats needed time to sort themselves out. 1 Mackenzie’s Linatina Fair Verona, scored on type, coat texture, proud head carriage, neat ears, so well muscled & strong. A pleasure to go over. Topline not quite as steady as 2 Ewing’s Loofahsa Amareuse, very promising & hope another year or so helps her rather thick straightish coat. Texture better on her tail so I hope it does improve. A very nice quality bitch with lots to like about her; 3 Davies’ Brynhir Jumaana Gold Pearl. PGB (10 1 Salisbury’s Orliscwt Lillee The Pink, typical Irish type, lacks a little in leg furnishings but good body. Good proportions of height to length, super topline, nice head & expression, well carried tail, a real powerhouse moving too; 2 Williamson’s Emalot Magic Dance, beautifully handled & a good honest sort. Maybe a touch more rear angulation would improve. I liked her head, neck & front, excellent body & topline, well presented coat; 3 Tilley’s Starzak Solid Gold Ez Action. LB (21,3) Nice class. 1 Ross’ Whilizias Head Or Tail, feminine yet strong, excellent proportions, good legs & feet, super topline, well set & carried tail, good front & forechest, pleasing head, good coat & colour; 2 House’s Glendowan Muffin Mclay, lovely texture coat. Maybe could be a little darker in colour. Very well muscled, strong & well angled, good body, level firm back; 3 Ewing’s Canicula The Elven Queen. OB (13,1) 1 Hanna’s Ch Kinaelan Quietly Confident, super bitch, a real terrier in attitude, excellent conformation, perfect topline, easy active strong mover, beautiful coat & condition of both body & muscletone, showed herself off nicely & outmoved the rest. My BP last time I judged I heard. CC; 2 Evans-Barry & Barry’s Ir/Sw/Ger Ch Villa Rosas Jill Na Lausitz, very nice girl, lovely texture of coat, nicely square body, good rear & front mover. Ears could be set a touch lower to frame the cheeks. Super mover; 3 Munn’s Ch/Ir Sh Snowmeadow Jellybean Jilly. GCB (7,1) 1 Grime’s Tobamorrey Aint No Angel; 2 Griffiths’ Wintrypark Miss Goodnight with Manawyddan; 3 Escott’s Abiqua Wild-Rose N Ribbons. |
