SOFT COATED WHEATEN WELSH KENNEL CLUB 22 Judge: Mr Sigurd Wilberg SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE WELSH KC 22 It was a great honour for me to judge Soft-Coated Weathen Terriers at the WKC. I want to thank the club for inviting me and the exhibitors for trusting me with their precious dogs. I was impressed by the overall quality of my entry even if I thought that quite a few of the dogs were on the long side. I must admit that I was very surprised when I found that all my green car winners were bread by Silkcroft. I have been judging dogs since 1967 and never have this happened to me before. I have given breeders two CC and one RCC, but this was the first time I have given a breeder the full pot. Having seen this, I want to congratulate Silkcroft with this fabulous achievement and wish them all the bests for the future. 1 Clarke’s Flaxela Illuminati (ai), Impressive puppy of high class. He is very promising with an excellent head and a superb outline. He is well constructed, and he moves like a machine, but I would have liked to see him a little shorter. 1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Game Changer. First class dog which is very well put together. He is well angulated with a nice head, but he could have had a stronger topline on the move 1 Satherley Silkcroft Shake It Off JW. Here was the challenger. He was close to Freeze Frame in type and quality, but I preferred the proportions of the CC winner. RCC 2 Hookway’s Denzilly Golden Compass. Another dog of excellent type. He is well constructed, and he stands well. I did, however, prefer the quarters on the winner. 3 Charleton’s House of Softy Indus (imp SWE): 1 Satherley UK Am Can Ch Silkcroft Freeze Frame (Re Import) JW. Here he was, the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier King of the WKC for 2022. I loved this dog as soon as he entered the ring and the more, I looked at him the more I liked him. Freeze Fame is a compact, upstanding Terrier. He is short coupled, and it was his proportions which made him stand out from his excellent competitors. He is standing four square with his head and tail up, well balanced and full of character. He was charming his way to the top. His movements were free and lively with long and low strides. I was very pleased to give him the CC & BOB. I was please to see him shortlisted in the Group! 2 Clarke’s Ch Flaxela Perfect Storm (ai). Another outstanding dog of excellent type which was pushing hard. He was ticking most of the right boxes and I did like him a lot. I did, however, preferred the front of the winner 3 Dowdy’s Ch Greentree Gold Mombo To Denzilly (Imp USA) 1 Lui’s Norkett Thistlebe Them There Eyes at EblanaHalls Sh.CM ShC. What a beautiful grandmother this is. She was in the best of form on the day, and she was pushing the youngsters very hard. I loved her and she is definitely one to be proud of! 2 Satherley Ch Silkcroft Sky Full of Stars Sh.CM Ir J Ch, This lady was very close to the winner in type and quality, but I preferred the topline on Them There Eyes on the move. 3 Atyeo Kanjuley Scarlet O’ Hara 1 Thoburn, Northridge Hold Your Horses, Promising bitch puppy of high class. She stands and moves well. 2 Howe’s Flaxela Flirtini at Daisymaes (ai). It was a close decision between the two bitches in this class and the decision could have gone either way. In the end I preferred the croup and outline of the winner. 3 Tilley Brynhir Born To Boogie At Starzak 1 Satherley Silkcroft Wildest Dreams. What can I say except hurrah. I was taken by this teenager, and I was close to giving her the CC. In the end maturity did, however, win the day, but I am sure this star will have a great future. RCC 2 Lui’s Norkett EblanaHalls Gold Limerence JW. Beautiful, well-constructed bitch which unfortunately was out of coat on the day. 1 Dowdy’s Denzilly Sweet Cariad. Another quality bitch of high class which moved very well. 2 Thoburn Northridge Galway Girl. A nice bitch of very good type., but I preferred the proportions of the winner. Sweet Cariad had more hight over the withers. 1 Witheyman & Satherley Ch Silkcroft Born This Way JW, I was taken by this outstanding bitch which is very impressive. She is well angulated both ends with a beautiful head. Her neck is slightly arched, and it is running smoothly into well laid-back shoulders. This lady is an excellent mover and I loved watching her motor around the ring It was a friendly fight between her and Freeze Fame for BOB. The reason the male won the match was that I thought Born This Way could have been a bit higher on her legs. CC & BOS 2 Lui’s Norkett Eblanahalls Honeytrap JW. This lovely lady has a lot of class, and she is a superb representative for the breed. She was trying hard, but in the end the winner outperformed her. |
