SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE WELSH KENNEL CLUB 15

Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers

A reasonable entry but many absentees. Type varied a lot & colour was disappointing & seems to be disappearing at a vast rate. Eyes & pigmentation were good on the whole. Rear movement was poorer than when I last judged & coats varied. Many were straight & some woolly though all were soft.

My main winners pleased me very much.

1 Pascoe’s Calvenace My Sweet Lord for Middlebury, good headed pup with neat ears, good mouth & eye, correct neck & good angulation, tailset good. Coat OK for age. Moved quite well. At only 7 months just needs time;

2 Moles & Williams’ Celtannia Extra Suave, I loved this one. Only 6 months but very unruly making it difficult to assess him. Lovely head, excellent pigment & coat colour. Nice bone & body for age. Correct tailset. Moved very erratically. Just needs more firm handling.

1 Meister & Brooks’ Silkcroft Crests Of Waves, nice size & shape, good eye, ears & mouth, firm topline & correct tail. Silky coat but rather pale. Close behind & not so good in front.

1 Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard, dog of nice size & colour. Short coupled with nice tailset, correct eye, neat ears, good coat, excellent pigment. Moved close behind. Better in front than 2

2 S Crests Of Waves; 3 Mackenzie & Mackenzie’s Kirktonhill Rumour Has It.

1 Maleary’s Saffini Teenage Sensation, stood alone but an honest dog. Correct eye, firm topline & desired tail. Mouth not quite perfect. Lovely silky coat. Moved wide in front.

OD (8,1)

1 Pascoe’s Middlebury Shooting Star, beautiful head with correct eye, mouth & ears, good angulation both ends. Correct bone & body. Firm topline & excellent tail. Lovely coat of soft texture & decent length. Lovely mover. Pleased to give him his 3rd CC & BOB;

2 Satherley’s Int Ch Modny Style Loverboy at Seamrog, another nice one but of different type. Head OK & nice angulation both ends. Short coupled with firm topline & nice tailset. Nice coat, excellent mover. RCC;

3 Howes’ Daisymaes Enforcer.

1 Bristow’s Kellynack Viva La Passione for Avard, 7 years old, pretty feminine bitch, nice colour with lovely curls to her coat, lacking in many. Good topline & tail. Good pigment, moved well. BV.

PB (9,4)

1 Moles & Williams’ Celtannia Extra Chic, only 6 months & sister to 2nd in PD. Absolutely lovely. Pretty head with excellent eye & mouth, neat ears, good neck & front, lovely shoulders, very compact in body, correct tail. Excelled in coat colour & texture. Moved like a veteran. Should have a bright future. Loved her. BP;

2 Barrett’s Saffini Sugar And Spice, another pleasing one. Again very pretty with nice head. Nice topline & tail, well angulated, good coat. Moved close behind & not so settled;

3 Rogers’ Kizzahla Kiss And Tell.

1 Gent & Lees’ Flaxela My Secret Love, bigger than I usually like but lovely balanced bitch. Good head with good pigment, correct eye & mouth, excellent front & shoulders, pleasing coat texture, firm topline & correct tail. Moved very well;

2 Hughlock’s Janeyjimjams Jolene, pretty bitch of excellent colour. Head & eye OK. Correct bone & body, good topline & tail. Not so compact as 1 & coat not so soft. Moved quite well;

3 Satherley’s Silkcroft Sky Full Of Stars.

1 Shrive’s Emalot Santa Maria & 2 Macgregor’s Kirktonhill What I Believe. 1 & 2 excellent for size & type. Feminine heads with good mouths, eyes & ears. Good pigmentation. Firm toplines & correct tails. Both moved very well. Just preferred coat of 1. Considered her for RCC but her turn will come;

3 Maleary’s Wheaten Rebel’s Them There Eyes.

LB (8,2)

1 Wardle’s Saffini One And Only, nice sized bitch, good head properties, compact body with nice angulation both ends. Correct tailset, lovely colour, moved very well;

2 Moles & Williams’ Kinaelan Cachique at Celtannia, another sound bitch of bigger size. Lovely head properties, good firm body & correct angulation. Best of pigmentation. Lovely colour & soft coat, moved well, in excellent condition. Mother to BP;

3 Gullick’s Jaeva Just Peachy.

OB (9,3)

1 Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Colour Of Magic, ultra feminine with a beautiful head. Nice size. Very well constructed all through. Best of heads & neat body. Nice angles both ends. Silky coat but colour could be better. One of the best movers here today. Tends to over reach when excited but was an easy CC winner;

2 Salisbury’s Killeshin Libaneira, completely different lady but has a very nice head, eye & mouth. Good front & rear angles enabling her to move very well. Paler coat but nice & soft. Again a lovely mover which won her RCC;

3 Wardle’s Saffini Yours Truly.
