SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE THREE COUNTIES 16

Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers

I would like to thank the secretary & committee for inviting me to judge at this well run & happy show, the weather was very kind to us, I would like to thank my stewards who did an excellent job & all that entered under me, I know it is more expensive now & not the nearest show to get to, I have judged the breed for a few years & although the numbers have gone down (as have most breeds) I feel the quality was higher, which is borne out by the fact my BOB won the terrier group & BP won the terrier puppy group & BPIS. I really enjoyed the day & met some old friends & for people who know me that’s important to me & very unimportant to me when I judge.

After writing my report I now see I did one kennel very well in bitches so well done to you & you should be proud breeders, I checked the catalogue & see you won junior, PG, Limit & Open with different females, I see the CC is the mother of junior (RCC) & limit winners, also thought I would look further & then find my DCC winner was sired by my BOB winner in 2004. Makes me a happy judge & well done to all & always remember you always take home the best dog.

PD (4)

1 Dunhill’s Mother’s Finest Jon Snow at Fantasa, one of the best things as a judge is to find a new & up & coming star & future champion. Here I thought was the case, yes this will be a future champion & maybe even higher & stood out here, I loved his shape, size, attitude & presentation which you would expect from this well known & to me well liked exhibitor, he had a strong but still elegant head, super topline & correct & well used tailset, moved well & coat looking excellent for the age. I did consider him for the CC & agree he is not finished yet, I was pleased & honoured to award the RCC & BP & thought I was being good to give him his first RCC but no it was his third. Will do very well in the future if he continues to develop & pleased to see him get PG1 & BPIS;

2 Watkins’ Zaraslake Lucky Seven, very impressive looking dog with excellent attitude & showmanship, can see is a real terrier which is something I like to see, I don’t need to see statutes, & if they move a bit I will see the quality if it’s there & these are terriers, coat needs a little more time to finish & develop, good topline & tailset;

3 Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak.

PGD (2)

1 Blandford’s Janeyjimjams Joshua, 2 years, top size for me, well presented which is nice to see, clean correct head, good topline, correct used & set tail & carriage;

2 Calvert & Naylor’s Amaricy Bullet Proof, 3 years, excellent for height & substance, topline & tailset could be a little better, coat needs a bit more time.

LD (3,2a)

1 Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard, 2 years old male, moved a little close behind, could have better length of neck, presented well & good handler, nice type.

OD (7,2)

1 Fallon’s Ch Janeyjimjams Jenson, 5 years old male at the top of his form, stood out for me, shown, handled & presented well, excellent for height & substance, excellent topline & correct set tail, strong head with good length, strength but still some elegance & workable, moved well enough, correct coat & type, correct in depth of chest & real terrier. Pleased to award CC, was then told after all judging how many CCs he had won, cannot remember but was a lot, after all judging I spoke to well known friend in the breed & said I know a SCWT won a group a while ago did I have it today, she told me it was this dog, I must admit I don’t know the dog or handler & to be honest don’t really care if a dog had won a group or was first time shown I just judge as I see on that day. This was my best male & I was happy;

2 Mapson’s Ch Abiqua Wild Jack Of Hearts, 3 years old male, excellent size but could carry a little bit more weight to advantage, moved well, super head with strong depth & strength in muzzle, clean in skull & cheeks, good neck, nice topline standing & on the move, well handled & presented well. Correct good type;

3 Matti & Omitogun’s Frontline Mr Feelgood.

PB (3)

1 Taylor’s Amberstar Abbey Road, nice bitch but very immature at present & needs more time to develop & finish but of right type. Excellent for height & size, correct feminine head & length of head, strong neck, topline correct for age but tailset not always used to advantage, coat needs more time;

2 Fallon’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Jewel for Justjenson, 8 months old, also immature & needs more time to develop & finish, coat needs to come more, topline correct for age;

3 Lawrence’s Kinaelan Finlandia Gaia.

JB (2)

1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Auroras Encore, another new & future star, well handled as you expect with this handler, a real terrier who enjoyed her day out & likes to be shown, 12 months & yes not quiet finished but lots to like & be happy with & will be even stronger when finished, my type & excellent for size & substance, super length & depth of head & real muzzle to get hold of when judging, correct in length & strength of neck, strong & correct topline standing & on the move, good drive behind & reach in front, very pleased to award the RCC, did give a long consider for the CC, she just needs a little more time. Will easily become a champion;

2 Rogers’ Kizzahla Kiss And Tell, 16 months female, coat could be presented better & to more advantage, topline & tailset could be better, movement could be stronger & might come better with time & excursive.

PGB (4,1)

1 Satherley’s Silkcroft One Step Closer, 2 years old, very nice type but still immature & needs more time to finish & develop, nice general shape & size, well presented & handled, long correct clean head, moved well. Nice coat type;

2 Johnstone’s Loofahsa Fiamma Rouxboos, 18 months, nice size & substance, coat could be better, nice type of head, moved OK, well presented & handled, tailset could be a little better;

3 Hughlock’s Janeyjimjams Jolene.

LB (8,2)

1 Satherley’s Silkcroft Sky Full Of Stars, 2½ years old female. Shown in full bloom & ready to be there, nice & correct in coat, excellent in size, super correct topline standing & on the move, pleased to go over & should do well in the future;

2 Moran’s Abiqua Wild She’s By Design, 3 years old, nice for size, coat could be presented better for me, well presented & handled, nice & correct tailset;

3 Bredemear-Walters & Walters’ Gwendonydd Gwenith Aur.

OB (10,2)

1 Satherley’s Ch Silkcroft Colour Of Magic, 6 years old female in top form & ready & willing for all, excellent showmanship, well handled & ready to rumble, walked in a looked around to see who would be second, I look as they come in (in fact when I’m not actually judging I look when there out of the ring as well) as she come in I was impressed & more so when I put my hands on, super feminine head with elegance & still strength, clean in skull & cheeks, correct & well set ears, well presented & handled, correct topline which was also excellent on the move, correct tailset & tail carriage again standing & on the move. Excellent type & presentation of the coat. Was pleased & honoured to give CC & BOB, pleased to see she won the group under that well known & respected terrier person Martin Phillips, who not only should know a good terrier, should also know this breed, was pleased to hear how many CC she had won after judging, again a dog I don’t think I have ever judged before;

2 Charleton’s Janeyjimjams Jemima, nice bitch of excellent breed type, shape & substance, long & correct head with strength, nice coat type, moved & handled well;

3 Taylor’s Ch Amberstar Eight Days A Week.
