Soft-coated Wheaten Terriers

I do enjoy judging the breed & with the variation in type, they are always thought provoking. While a couple of dog classes were light in numbers there was still plenty of quality & I had very pleasing class winners & an excellent open class.

In bitches there was more depth of quality & several close decisions. The line-up for the BCC pleased me enormously, all lovely bitches which filled my interpretation of the Standard.

1 Snowmeadow Peregrine Piper, a good start to the day with this excellent youngster. 12 months, good proportions, well built & shows this on the move. Strong head. Just a touch strong in cheeks but good ears & eyes. Coat still a little woolly but he strides out well & is full of promise. His handler could be a little more positive. He should do very well.

1 Zaraslake Sirocco, good size & proportions. A touch broad in skull. Foreface OK. Needs more angulation in front & narrow in chest yet & this shows on the move. Coat of good colour & texture. Maturity should help him.

1 Daisymaes Desmond Decker, lovely young dog for the breed, excellent type & proportions, well built & moves accurately with good stride. Quality in head & eye, coat of good colour. Just a little woolly yet. Carried himself well. Pressed very hard in the challenge & should go on to better things;

2 Kariskiye Horrid Henry for Abbeymead, not a good name to lumber a dog with! I liked him for type & proportions, very good outline standing. Needs more rib & chest & this shows on the move & he loses his topline. Good type in head.

Good class.

1 Janeyjimjams Jenson, balanced, unexaggerated & full of type. Correct size, good proportions. Needs a little more body on him. Unexaggerated & holds himself well, good stride. Just a touch close in rear. Good coat texture & colour. CC;

2 Ch Snowmeadow Numinous Niilo, 5 years, very good moving dog, excellent coat & head. Coat of excellent texture. Just slightly preferred proportions of 1 but I was splitting hairs. RCC;

3 Kellynack Zoom Zoom.

VD

1 Ch Kizzahla Pompey Royale, almost 9 years, top size dog of good proportions, good head proportions & good rib. Coat could be a little clearer in colour. Still sound & with good stride, has retained all his quality & was in lovely form.

Two litter sisters.

1 Denzilly I’m So Dizzy, & here she lived up to this name. Naughty but nice! 10 months, appealed greatly for type & while she needs more schooling when she moved was excellent & true on the move. I preferred her head & leg length to win over her sister. BP;

2 Denzilly Sweet Rebel, smaller, very good body & coat. I preferred the strength of head of 1. Beautifully schooled & moved well. Just preferred balance of 1. Will be interesting to see how these two quality puppies finish.

Good quality right through.

1 Snowmeadow Peggy Phurrari, 12 months, beautiful mover, long stride, clean & accurate & with super coat, feminine head, scored in movement & coat texture. Good body proportions. Should have a good future;

2 Loofahsa Hip Hop, 13 months, excellent proportions, a little stronger in skull & cheek bones than 1. Holds herself well with good front action, good chest & rib. Coat texture still a little woolly. Has a lot of quality, I liked her;

3 Chekhina Streaming Soraka.

1 Calvenace Fat Bottomed Girl for Flaxela, excellent type & proportions, good on the move although her front action is just a touch tied at the elbow. Lovely quality & proportions in head, coat of good texture;

2 Fantasa Blonde Nell, took my eye immediately for type & proportions. Lovely coat for colour & texture, good head. A touch stronger than 1. Front action let her down. Full of type & will have better days;

3 Killeshin Libaneire.

1 Silkcroft Light Fantastic, full of quality & terrier spirit but when she collected herself went accurately with good topline. Beautiful head & expression, lovely body proportions. Just needs a little more maturity & collection on the move. When she turned to look at me she was irresistible, will soon be hitting the top;

2 Kariskiye Born To Bewitch, loved the proportions of this bitch, excellent head & lovely coat. Very good front & profile action. Not using her hocks effectively & 1 scored there. Top quality;

3 Brynhir Jumaana Gold Pearl. OB Excellent class. 1 Emalot Little Miss Star, loved her from first circuit, fills the eye for type, proportions & movement. Beautiful bitch, full of type & carrying herself well with accurate movement. Lovely coat, absolutely typical in being free of exaggeration, scored in bone & front movement. I was amazed that this was her first CC but I am sure it will not be her last. Beautiful. CC & BOB;

2 Ch Fantasa Blonde Lilley, excellent bitch. Just a little lighter in bone than 1 & not quite as accurate in front. Excellent proportions, feminine head, good coat, full of quality. RCC;

3 Daisymaes Arrabella.

1 Ch/Ir Ch Snowmeadow Jillybean Jilly, in her youth has won two BIS awards under me, now at 9 years still a wonderful bitch. Still ultra sound. Not in her best coat but no denying her type & quality. Has been a wonderful producer & her descendants were my top winners here, the mark of a great bitch;

2 Ch Kizzahla Katinka, 9 years, leaner bitch, very good proportions & well ribbed. Not the eye or expression of 1 & not collected on the move with a new handler who, I hope, is now back to full soundness on the move, a most sporting exhibitor.
