SOFT COATED WHEATEN MIDLAND COUNTIES 14 Judge(s): GILL FORD Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers Thank you to Midland Counties for the invitation to judge at their very well organised coming show and for their excellent hospitality overnight and on the day. I very much enjoyed my first CC appointment for Wheatens and thank my excellent stewards for keeping the classes flowing so that our BOB was able to get into the group ring in time. A big thank you too to the sporting exhibitors for the excellent entry and trusting me to go over their lovely dogs. 1. Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard. A lovely pup with a balanced masculine head, excellent bite and good pigment and parallel head planes. Good neck and shoulder into strong topline and good tailset. Good puppy coat. Movement a little loose but only a baby so plenty of time to improve. BPD 2. Glew’s Braelochyen Abracadabra Very similar to 1st in construction but with an Irish coat exactly right for his stage of development. Good head, bite and pigment, neck shoulder and topline and good rear angulation. Just preferred the slightly shorter coupling of the winner. PD (3,2) 1. Glew’s Braelochyen Abracadabra. (2nd in MPD) JD 1. (4) 1 Johnson’s Kinaelan Halsey Very promising Irish type youngster with a good head, bite and pigment. Strong neck leading to a good layback of shoulder. Level topline and good tailset with plenty behind the tail. Strong well muscled quarters producing fluent movement. Coat coming but will need plenty more time. 2. Revis’s Tiareko Niflheims Wizard. Upstanding dog with good head, neck and shoulder. Good bone and substance and balanced angulation. Moved well but a little close behind. 1 Howe’s Stevelyn Kings Call of Sunnydaze. Nice young dog with a good head, parallel planes and good earset. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulder and deep chest. Good topline and tailset. Moved freely but rather loose in front. Still a junior so has time to tighten up. 1. Hanna’s Kinaelan Finlandia Finnian Dog with a lovely make and shape and beautiful coat. Good head, bite, pigment and earset . Strong neck into well laid back shoulder and strong level topline with good tailset and plenty behind it. Moved out in style in profile though a fraction wide in front coming toward .RCC 2. Griifiths Manawyddan I Got Rhythm. Slightly smaller version of the winner and less mature, which is hardly surprising as I see from the catalogue that he is his son. Coat still developing but everything in the right place and moved well to claim 2nd place over some quality dogs. Lovely class of great dogs. 1. Butler’s Ir Ch Ballysax Bremner. An impressive dog who is all male. On his toes with a terrier attitude but without any suggestion of aggression. Excellent head, bite, pigment and earset which he used all the time. Strong neck into well laid shoulder, good spring of rib and deep chest. Firm loin and well angulated, muscular quarters, which propelled him round the ring with excellent parallel reach and drive. The whole covered in a beautiful coat with a golden sheen.CC. 2. Satherley and Smith’s Am/ Am G Ch Haldane Double Down. Another beautiful dog superbly presented with a lovely coat. Very good neck, shoulder and topline with good angulation front and rear. Attractive head with good bite and pigment. Moved out well. Pushed hard for the RCC but I just preferred the slightly more masculine heads of the two main winners. 1. Dowdy’s Denzilly Sweet Rumour. Well balanced pup with feminine head, parallel planes, good bite, pigment and earset . Good neck into well laid shoulders, level topline and well angulated front and rear. Moved out well with good reach and drive. 2. Brown’s Carkbark Brown Eyed Girl. Similar virtues to the winner, Balanced and feminine with good head, shoulders, topline, tailset and quarters. Not quite as mature as the winner . Lovely to see so many pups which bodes well for the future of the breed. 1. Phillips and Gullick’s Jaeva Just Peachy Super pup. Very nice head, neck and shoulder, level topline, well ribbed back and short coupled. Well angulated front and rear and moved well with good parallel movement. Would like to see the black mask lighten as she gets older. 2. Slikcroft Sky Full of Stars. Held her own in good company. A very pretty feminine pup who showed well and enjoyed herself moving round the ring with confidence. Well made and balanced throughout. Just lost out to winner on maturity 1 Satherley’s Silkcroft World Explorer. Nice size, feminine bitch with good head, bite, pigment and ears which she used to advantage. Good layback and well angulated rear which produced good flowing movement. Still (just) a puppy and coat clearing and maturing well. BPIB 2. Salisbury’s Orliscwt Worth the Wait A nicely made young lady who was a bit tentative to start with but improved in confidence as the class wore on. Nicely constructed with a good, head, neck and shoulder. Good topline and tailset. Irish coat developing well and she moved well when she settled. One to watch for the future. 1 Jefferies Frontline Simply Beautiful. Well named young girl with a lovely silky, shiny coat covering a very well made body. Feminine head with a good bite, good neck and shoulder with a well sprung rib and level topline and plenty behind her tail. Moved out nicely to win a good class. 2.Herberts Calvenace She’s the One at Julibidd Well balanced feminine head with good bite and pigment. Good Shoulder, spring of rib and good topline and tailset. Moved well. 1 Moles & Williams Kinaelan Cachique at Celtannia. Very attractive, well balanced bitch with lovely head and expression. Well constructed throughout which showed in her movement as she flowed around the ring. Topped of with a lovely silky coat with a golden sheen. Would prefer a little less black in the mask but that’s being hypercritical, RCC 2. Salisbury’s Orliscwt Lilee The Pink, Irish type slightly bigger than the winner. Another balanced , well made bitch with a good head, well set and well used ears. Good neck, shoulder and topline and short coupled. Moved very well. Lovely coat a shade paler than the 1st. 1. Dowdy’s Denzilly Sweet Rebel Took my eye as she entered the ring and did not disappoint. Very feminine but strongly made. Pretty head with good bite and pigment, well set ears used well. Compact and short coupled but well ribbed back. Front and rear angulation balanced and produced excellent parallel movement as she floated round the ring. Coat silky with a definite shine and flowed as she moved. CC & BOB. 2. Munn’s Snowmeadow Peggy Phurrari Very well made bitch with a super coat. Good head, bite, pigment and ears. Strong neck into very well laid shoulders, deep chest and level topline. Good angulation front and rear which produced good movement from all angles. Well presented. Would have preferred her just a shade smaller. Gill Ford (Judge) |
