SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE LEEDS 16

I would like to thank the Committee at Leeds for inviting me to judge. I would also like to congratulate all dogs and handlers for the way they took on the challenges of the day, namely the unexpected heat, and the rather undulating ring we had. Thanks for a wonderful entry. Looking at the youngsters coming through, the breed has a very promising future.

1. Watkins’ Zaraslake Lucky Seven. A masculine 10 mth old puppy with a compact shape, and substance. Strong head, lovely mouth and good bite. Neat ears and dark eyes. A good length of neck into a good shoulder placement. Deep chested and short coupled, with level topline. Tail well set on. Coat coming on well. Gave his handler a bit of a hard time in the puppy challenge, but moved well when settled.

2. Dunhill’s Mothers Finest Jon Snow At Fantasa. A lot to like about this 10 mth old boy. Lovely coat of good colour and texture. Strong head with a good eye. Nice mouth. Excellent length of neck and good topline. Longer cast and finer dog than 1. Moved well. Preferred the more balanced outline and substance of 1 on the day.
3. Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star At Starzak

1. Fallon’s Ch. Janeyjimjams Jenson. A lovely example of the breed. Beautiful correct coat texture and of good colour. A masculine dog but not overdone. Good strong head. Nice mouth with good bite, small ears and lovely dark eye. Enough length of neck into well placed shoulder. Deep chest and good spring of rib. Lovely rear angulation. Level top line held on the move. He moved with ease, and with good reach and drive. Challenged hard for BOB. Just preferred the overall outline of the bitch on the day. Pleased to award him BOS and BD.

Three lovely 9 mth old litter sisters, yet all so different.

1. Fallon’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Jewel For Justjenson. Lovely feminine bitch, whose coat is coming through very nicely. Pleasing neat head, with dark eye. Good length of neck into a nice lay of shoulder. Enough depth of chest. Level topline and good tailset. Moved the best in her class. Very settled and steady.

2. Mann’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Line. Another feminine young lady. Heavier coat type than 1 and slightly longer cast, though still a balanced outline when stood. Nice head. Dark eye, and correct earset. Good length of neck and shoulder placement. Good depth of chest. Level topline. Not moving at her best today.

3. Roberts’ Janeyjimjams Jubilee Grace

A strong class.

Compact in outline, with enough substance, but still feminine throughout. Lovely head, good dark eye and small ears. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Straight front, and excellent deep chest. Good spring of rib. Level topline, held well on the move and tail well set on. Lovely rear angulation. Moved with ease, and with good reach and drive. Very pleased to award her BOB and BB.

Feminine head, dark eye, good pigmentation, and small ears. Excellent length of neck into good lay of shoulder. Good front with deep chest. Good tailset and rear angulation. Held her topline on the move. Lovely movement showing plenty reach and drive. Pushed hard in both the class and the challenge.
