SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 16
Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier.
Thank you to the Committee for my first CC appointment and to the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege of going over the dogs and accepting my placings in a sporting manner, it was gratifying to hear ringside applause. My stewards were very efficient in keeping the ring running smoothly. All the dogs coped well with the inside ring which whilst not ideal I did try to utilise the space available to enable the dogs to stride out.

Stood four square, coat of good colour developing well. Strong masculine head, nice dark eye and pigment. Correct ear set and size. Well off for bone, straight front leading into laid back shoulder and a level topline. Good turn of stifle. Moved with reach and drive. Would like a bit more trimming to make more of the neck he has.
2nd Pascoe’s Calvenace My Sweet Lord for Middlebury.
Wheaten coat developing well into soft waves. Strong head with flat skull, good dark eye and pigment. Well laid back shoulders. Not as confident on the move as 1 but when settled moved soundly, good tailset. Preferred size of 1.

1st Fallon’s CH Janeyjimjams Jenson JW SHCM
I judged this boy as a youngster and he has matured into a worthy top winner. Fits the standard to a T. As always he is beautifully presented, has great ring presence, soft wheaten coat falling in waves. Masculine head, dark eye and pigment, correct bite, good reach of neck leading into well laid back shoulders, level topline, good angulation. Moved straight with reach and drive. No exaggerations with this dog, he is in tune with his handler. DCC, BOB pleased to watch him be awarded TG4.

Puppy Bitch (7,1a)
Super class of quality youngsters, lots to like.
1st Gale’s Flaxela Drop Dead Gorgeous
Compact unexaggerated bitch standing four square with a coat of good colour for one so young. Feminine head with a good ear set, dark eye, correct bite. Straight front, lovely reach of neck into well laid shoulders, level topline which she held on the move. Short coupled, great angulation. Light on her feet, covered the ring well, at one with her handler. This bitch is aptly named, one I would like to take home. Will watch her progress with interest. RBCC.
2nd Clarke’s Flaxela Weaver of Dreams.
Litter sister to 1 and shares all her positive attributes, splitting hairs with this decision, two very nice pups who will no doubt swop places on another day. Very confident balanced youngster, animated.
Junior Bitch (3,1a)
1st Holding’s Kirktonhill Cara Alainn
Pretty bitch, good outline, coat of correct texture and colour, not exaggerated in any way. Nice head, good eye, bite and pigment. Sufficient reach of neck, laid back shoulder. Straight front, level topline. A steady mover, well handled.
2nd Tempesta’s Kinaelan Finlandia Grace (AI)
This girl was quite unsettled at the start of the class and I later learnt that it was the first show for exhibit and exhibitor, however the handler kept calm and she settled down. Irish coated girl which is developing a silky sheen, well off for bone. Excellent eye, nose and bite. I hope the owner perseveres with her training, would be interested to see her mature.
Post graduate Bitch (7, 3a)
1st Lui’s Thistlebe Them There Eyes at Eblanahalls
Presented a nice picture standing, coat of good colour and wave. Excels in pigmentation, dark eye, good bite. Straight front, good reach of neck, well bodied. Level topline, good angulation, would prefer more natural shaped trimming to her rear. Sympathetically handled to get the best out of her.
2nd Macgregor’s Kirktonhill What I believe SHCM
Pretty girl, slightly smaller and more compact than 1, soft wheaten coat. Good pigment, correct scissor bite. Level topline and good angulation. Well handled on a loose lead, moved steadily. Preferred reach of neck of 1.
Limit Bitch (8,2a)
1st Herbert’s Calvenace She’s the One at Juliebidd
One who I have admired from the ringside. Pretty girl with a touch of naughtiness about her. Good coloured wheaten coat, nice head and dark eye. Correct earset and bite. Straight front, good reach of neck, well laid back shoulders, level topline and good angulation. Moved straight with reach and drive. Unfortunately in the challenge she decided not to give it her all, such a shame.
2nd Shrive’s Emalot Santa Maria
Similar comments as 1 apply. Very feminine bitch , slightly longer cast than 1. Close decision between these two, today just preferred the neck of 1. Good tailset with enough behind. Her day will come.
