SOFT COATED WHEATEN JUDGE BLACKPOOL 16

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers

Firstly I would like to thank the society for the invitation to judge & also the exhibitors for entering their dogs for my opinion. I was pleased with the quality of the entry. As a general overview, in my assessment of the dogs, I found quite a few which were lacking in substance & feel breeders need to watch rear movement as many exhibits were moving close behind today. I do believe we have a depth of quality within the breed & I found some very exciting youngsters. Overall I found coats to be good with correct texture. Temperaments were excellent without exception.

PD (3)

1 Watkins’ Zaraslake Lucky Seven, 9 months. Masculine head, strong jaw & correct scissor bite. Enough neck into good layback of shoulder, chest down to elbow. Strong bone, level topline & correct tailset. This boy is square & balanced. Coat of good colour & texture. Moved out well font & rear. BPD;

2 Dunhill’s Mothers Finest Jon Snow at Fantasa, 9 months. Also scores in head properties. Correct scissor bite. Lovely reach of neck & shoulder placement. Level topline, good tailset & carriage of tail. Slightly longer in body than 1. Coat of good colour & texture;

3 Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak.

JD (4)

1 Jones’ Wheaten Rebels Voice Of Vision for Silverluka, took my eye as he is square & has a balanced outline. Excellent pigmentation, strong jaw & scissor bite. Good length of neck, excellent shoulders, straight front. Good bone & well sprung ribs, topline level when he naturally free stands. Coat of excellent colour & texture. BJD;

2 McFerran’s Kirktonhill Cara Dilis, lovely pigmentation with dark eye & large black nose. Correct scissor bite & ears well set. Moderate length of neck with good shoulder placement. Lovely rear angulation & moved out well. Just preferred coat colour of class winner;

3 Moles & Williams’ Celtannia Extra Suave.

PGD (3)

1 Moles & Williams’ Wheaten Goblins Eros for Celtannia, Irish type. Excellent head properties, dark pigmentation. Large teeth. Presents a balanced terrier outline. Moderate length of neck. Good layback of shoulders, depth of chest to elbow. Excellent topline & tailset. Moved with reach & drive, coat maturing well;

2 Roberts’ Loofahsa Andiamo, correct scissor bite, would prefer to see a little more length of neck but has correct layback of shoulder. Level topline & coat of good colour. Still needing to settle on the move but has time on his side;

3 Leverton’s Carbark Good Luck Charm.

LD (3)

1 Revis’ Tiareko Niflheim’s Wizard, quality exhibit throughout. Strong masculine head with correct earset. Very good length of neck flowing into super shoulder placement. Depth of chest to elbow, ribs well sprung. Level topline & well set tail. Coat of good wheaten colour. Moved out well going away & coming towards. Seriously considered for the RCC but not giving his all in the challenge;

2 Catlow’s Flaxella Too Fast For Love at Justjingo, many of the same comments above apply to this boy. Strong head, correct lay of shoulder, deep chest & well boned. Level topline & good rear angulation. Moved & well handled. Just preferred length of neck & tailset of the class winner;
