MINIATURE BULL JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 08

Miniature Bull Terriers

Much has been said & written about the size of the Minis today – well, for what it’s worth it’s nothing I’ve not heard before, so what is the answer, who is to blame? The judge should never overlook the important role played at all judging appointments.

During my time with this breed I’ve seen my fair share of bad judging. Judges should at all times remember just two things: type & balance. Ask yourself is the dog in front of you a Bull Terrier – Miniature, not just a head on short or indeed long legs?

BOB was the bitch winning her second CC, congratulations to both parties responsible for the superb bitch, Transcend Racing Diamond for Grandopera, white with head marks, a true show girl, the correct balance of bull & terrier, just what I was looking for, excellent head, correct expression, strong neck, short firm body, moving with reach in front & drive from short firm hocks. DCC Vincent & Presland’s Ch/Ir Ch Badlesmere Brabazon in Kofyn, correct for size, type & balance. Head could have more depth & eye could be smaller. Good quality bone, moved well, firm quarters in fine order throughout, a well deserved ch.

PD (3)

1 BP, Mumford’s Baisey’s Blanc Du Blanc, white with head markings, the best of heads, perfect large teeth, wicked expression, in excellent condition throughout, showed & handled well. Hope he doesn’t grow anymore;

2 Cartwright’s Badlesmere Buzzin Boyde, super for size, good shoulders.

JD (3)

1 RCC, Vickers’ Duvess Red Cloud, solid red, excellent for breed type, well balanced, super head, perfect large teeth, well off the bone, good feet, should make up. Would prefer cleaner shoulders & to be better presented;

2 Herne’s Warbonnet Galetia, oversized, excellent quality bone with a strong head. PGD (1) 1 Shaw’s Badlesmere Blackmail, balanced throughout, moving out well, super head. Eye could be smaller. Perfect bite, well placed ears, good bone & feet.

LD (2)

1 Barratt’s Margins Monsoon, b/w, super head, filled & turned, large teeth, well off for bone. Oversized & long in the loin. In good order, moved well especially from behind;

2 Llewellyn’s Bullypins Kaimos, better for size, perfect bite, well handled, in fine fettle. OD 1 Vincent & Presland’s Ir Ch Badlesmere Brabozon in Kofyn.

PB (5)

Very promising class of babies.

1 Wiles’ Addeswood Uyuyan for Arcazy, lovely br/w in excellent form, sweeping profile, perfect bite, good front & shoulder, moving out well. Eye could be smaller;

2 Phillips’ Bully on Maiden Monsure, a quality bitch, super angulation, moving freely.

JB (3)

1 McGregor’s Bullypins Millima of Merlinda, should make up with ease. Would like more bone to complete the picture but overall a quality br/w bitch, lovely sweeping head with depth, so feminine, held topline on the move, loved her;

2 Vickers’ Duvessa Red River, balanced throughout r/w, not in the best of coat or condition (pity) however, a quality bitch who should also make up with a bit more attention. Moved freely, super head.

PGB (1)

1 Cartwright’s Black Mountains Bow, b/b/w, true Mini, pretty head, perfect bite, tiny ears, super show girl in excellent coat & condition, well handled. Eye could be smaller. Good feet.

LB (2)

1 Chitty’s Seaquest Bally Kiss Angel, beautiful white coat & condition, very well handled, head feminine but could have more strength, topline could be firmer on the move. Good for bone, standing on well padded feet;

2 Monaghan’s Espana Contessa Ukag El Cornizel at Nostradamos, b/w, enjoying her day out, lovely head, moving out well.

OB (4)

Quality class.

1 CC & BOB, Clark’s Transcend Racing Diamond for Grandopera;

2 Wylie’s Ch Transcend Racing Spot, it’s all been said before, two cracking bitches, 1 has the edge on a firmer topline, length of neck & showmanship.
