BEDLINGTON WINDSOR 10 Judge: Mr S D Yearley BEDLINGTON JUDGE WINDSOR 10 About UsContact UsNew to the world of dogs? Advertise with Dog World... A relatively small but quality entry. It was good to see such an improvement in overall coat colour though we are still suffering from too many short coupled dogs. Feet & dentition were generally good but dental hygiene requires attention in too many exhibits. Teeth are a terrier’s tool of work & should be better looked after. A bit of roadwork will improve flat feet & put an arch back in the toes. The depth of quality in the Puppy & Junior classes bodes well for the future & I think things will get quite interesting as these youngsters move up through the classes. PD (2) 1 Jones’ Pengerrig Unique, fitness with good bone & substance won the class for this young fellow. Strode out well using his nicely angulated rear to good effect. Still a bit wild as we would expect from a dog of this age but he went well when he settled. Pleasing dark blue jacket. BP: 2 Mumford’s Taranne Blue Lightening, fit young lad, really dark blue weatherproof coat. Not as mature as 1 & a bit short on furnishings but definitely one to watch. I think these two will have quite a few battles in the future. JD (1) 1 Bouse’s Tredomen Dixie, just out of Puppy, another good one from the South Wales valleys. Loved his overall size & balance. Maybe it is something to do with the coal in the water but here was another example of a proper dark blue coat, this time with more mature furnishings. His fitness & correct structure were reflected in his soundness on the move. PGD (5) 1 Owen’s Bisbee Beechcomber, this boy is maturing well & showing real promise, dark blue & prepared to perfection, covered the ground with drive & accuracy, arch held over the loin, standing & walking & a perfect length to height ratio, well balanced, pleasing head & dark eye. RCC; 2 Hyde’s Gnejnabay Chokko Pops, strong, fit, masculine dog I have often admired & he did not disappoint when I got my hands on him. Dense dark liver coat, well prepared, accentuated his virtues. Steady mover. He lost out in the final analysis to the overall bloom & accuracy of movement of 1; 3 T Dixie. LD (1) 1 Walshaw’s Janmark Alannora, enough of him but good bone & substance without coarseness saved the day for this young fellow. Seemed a bit distracted & didn’t want to get into his stride properly which is a shame because he has all the attributes necessary to make him a big winner. Could easily have handled some competition. OD (5,1a) 1 Walshaw’s Janmark Blue Encounter, similar in type & size to the Limit winner, performed faultlessly. Arch over the loin, smooth movement, crisp blue coat, powerful masculine head combined with beautiful preparation. CC, his third, & BOB; 2 Keirnan & Liu’s Bisbee Boy Wonder, beautifully trimmed & in good fit condition, classy lady, great ring presence & will always be there or thereabouts. Lost out to my top winners on body length but I was nitpicking & it was a difficult decision; 3 Caines’ Burmington And Me Too. V (2) 1 Winstanley’s Ratzwell Blue Ash, top sized dark blue dog I have judged on a number of occasions throughout his career & I have to say he is like fine wine & at 12 years is the best I have seen him. He could easily pass as half his age & his fitness is an example to many younger dogs; 2 Honey’s Barnsnap Bryony, an old friend, still in great form. Not displaying the harshness of 1 but her movement & showmanship should be studied by newcomers to the breed. At 11 years she is a credit to her owners. PB (5) 1 Ames’ Sharnor Emerald Electra, feminine without being lightweight or shelly, walked round the ring like she owned it, textbook conformation, dark dense coat & a head to die for gave her the class. Maturity should see her competing with the very best; 2 Morrice’s Mollora Wild Thyme, promising pup, similar in many ways to 1. Flattened a little in full stride but her movement was true with no closeness or plaiting. Nice head & ears, dark blue jacket, immaculately prepared like the winner; 3 Kinns’ Burmington Truly Blue. JB (4) 1 Harris’ Ratzwell Dolly Mixture, saw this youngster at an earlier show where she stood out from the crowd & hands on here she didn’t disappoint, feminine & in crisp coat, well schooled for one so young & it made assessing her gait so easy, good strong head, sound bite, not a flashy type but difficult to fault anywhere. Dogs like these are the backbone of any breed; 2 Owen’s Bisbee Belle Inni, a bit overweight. Impressed with her overall type & balance in what was probably the strongest class of the day. Moved well both ways with drive & purpose, has a promising future; 3 Walshaw’s Janmark Misty Horizons. PGB (8,1) 1 Winstanley’s Catchfraze Flirty Girtie, good solid construction & well muscled frame allowed her to move positively & with drive, feminine but powerful & fit for purpose, she was all that a Bedlington should be. Please keep an eye on the foot trimming which should only reach the first knuckle. Otherwise beautifully prepared & show fit; 2 Hardy’s Miteymidgets Carleon Cove, similar in type to 1. Well balanced, good length of foreface & silky smooth effortless movement. Both these youngsters are capable of taking on the stronger competition of the Limit class; 3 Ames’ Sharnor Crystal Clear. LB (4,1) 1 Lidsell’s Sandy And Blue Dancing Queen, shown with a little more coat than we are used to in the UK, nonetheless a super specimen. She looked the part from all angles & moved with the distinctive roll so typical of the breed. Beautifully prepared with the fine finish which only hard work can achieve. Were it not for her pale, soft coat she would have challenged for top honours; 2 Wharton Smith’s Miteymidgets Shooting Star, a rangier type, good mover, really driving from the rear as a well angulated dog should. Long lean head & reachy neck complemented her type & balance & made for a pleasing outline; 3 Godden’s Seaofiron Where Angels Play. OB (5) 1 Hyde’s Gnejnabay Madam Dominica, what a beautifully balanced bitch this is, so often overlooked, this liver girl displays a true Bedlington shape & has a head to die for. Big teeth & sparkling eyes & a real smoothie round the ring, pleasing liver coat, arch over the loin on the move & a proper Bedlington front, wider at the chest than at the feet. If I am to be picky & you girls will understand why, she was carrying a bit of weight but still had enough in hand to be awarded her third & qualifying. CC; 2 Ames’ Mollora Frozen In Time at Sharnor, attractive but daintier dark blue, wicked expression, quality bitch in great condition, prepared to the minute, moved well with drive & panache, beat off some strong opposition for the RCC; 3 Morrice’s Ch Mollora Fancy Pants.
