BEDLINGTON JUDGE SKC AUGUST 13

Bedlington Terriers

Thank you to those exhibitors who travelled to Edinburgh to support me, & thank you to my very efficient stewards & to the Scottish Kennel Club for their hospitality. I was pleased with the overall quality, but surprised by the poor muscle tone in quite a number of exhibits. The breed standard calls for a muscular dog, & good muscle tone in the first & second thighs supports sound movement.

P (1)

1 Graham’s Ruffsfurze Zemzem, 9 months blue bitch standing alone but well worthy of her BP award, feminine head with strong scissor bite, good length of neck & well laid shoulders, reasonable depth of chest emphasising her tuck up, with a topline to match, arch over loin retained on move, moved soundly.

J (4)

A nice entry of 4 bitches auguring well for the future of the breed.

1 Davies’ Honeymist Posh Dreamz, correct size, well balanced bitch, dark eye & correct earset, strong teeth & nostrils, good depth of chest, arch over loin, well muscled & good movement, well presented & handled;

2 Fletcher & Lawson’s Aireview Blue Flame for Maevani, similar size to 1 with excellent bite & ear placement, good length of neck with well laid shoulders, good muscletone, moved well, preferred topline of 1;

3 McNally’s Aireview Dancing Queen at Conekesheved.

PGD (0).

LD (4)

A difficult class to judge with 4 very different dogs.

1 Tonner & Oxbury’s Sevray Whisper at Jukenblu, up to size but nicely balanced blue with a strong head & teeth, long slightly sloping pasterns & well let down hocks, good body length to height with arch over loin, well muscled & moved with purpose;

2 Brady & Carter’s Tcheria Shenanigans, correct size, excellent example of the breed, lovely head, good depth of chest & tuck up, moved OK but not as well muscled as 1, watched this dog take a well deserved BIS at a club show earlier in the month, but today lacked sparkle, & looked as if he would have been happier elsewhere, on the day preferred the overall condition & movement of 1;

3 Fletcher & Lawson’s Burmington Say I Do for Maevani.

OD (7)

Strong class.

1 Cumming’s Ch Honeymist Blue Flame at Rocabec, a delight to go over, correct size with excellent angulation front & rear, strong head & bite with good earset, strong pasterns & well let down hocks, good length of neck & well laid shoulders, flat ribs with good depth of chest & arch over loin, best tail carriage of the dogs on the day, moved well. CC;

2 Ame’s Sharnor Faithful Falcon, judged this dog as a puppy & does not disappoint as an adult, similar in size to 1 but slightly finer, good length of jaw with strong teeth & scissor bite, good length of neck & sound shoulders, arch over loin retained on move, good front & rear angulation, well deserved RCC;

3 Jones’ Pengerrig Unique.

PGB (2)

1 Mayers & Bannister’s Toolbox Helping Hand for Tcheria, small well balanced feminine bitch with good head, bite & earset, good length to height with arch over loin, good tailset, movement OK;

2 McNally’s Aireview Dancing Queen at Conekesheved, good scissor bite & good earset, good length of neck & good depth of chest, movement OK but not as sound as 1.

LB (6)

1 Graham’s Ruffsfurze Beren, feminine bitch with good head & good scissor bite, good length of neck with well laid shoulders, good length to height with flat ribs, good depth of chest & tuck up, carried tail well, coat one of best on the day for both colour & texture, moved well. RCC;

2 Mayers’ Tcheria Flibbertigibbet, similar to 1 but not quite as well balanced, good head with dark eye & correct earset, good length of neck & depth of chest, good coat colour but not quite the texture of 1, moved well;

3 Richardson’s Highdene Hetti.

OB (6)

1 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Look Of Love, still a young bitch but in hard condition with her jacket in full bloom, feminine head with dark eye & correct earset, long tapering jaw & good scissor bite, long neck springing up from well laid shoulders, good depth of chest & tuck up, arch over loin retained on move, good tail carriage, well muscled, excellent movement & beautifully presented. CC, BOB;

2 McNally’s Aireview Cristal Blue, well balanced blue with dark coat, feminine head with correct earset, good length of neck & sound shoulders, good depth of chest, moved OK;

3 Davies’ Ch Honeymist Crazy Rhythm.
