BEDLINGTON JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 18

Bedlington Terriers: I’d like to thank the National Terrier for the opportunity to judge my breed at this prestigious show and to my able stewards Paula and Tony.
Teeth were on the whole cleaner than last time I judged but there were still a couple of young dogs with poor dental hygiene. I found no bad feet or poor bites. As last time though, handling was generally poor. Triangles should start directly in front of the judge, not six foot to one side.

SBD/B.

1 Kinns’ Kinnuva Dark Sleeker: Liver dog of good size, has a nice outline when stood and is in excellent coat and colour, clean head with a good bite and nice thin ears. Standing well on sloped pasterns and good hare feet. Deep and flat in rib with nice tuck-up. Nice rear angulation and move well, just a little fond of his tail.

MPD.

1 Gillies’ Rhicullen Jacobite; Big enough blue dog, OK in head, good bite, good length of neck. Chest deep and flat, good angulation fore & aft. Very immature in both movement and coat, needs time.

JD. 1 Baldwin’s Woolytop Golden Surprise; Liver dog of good shape but would like a little more of him. He has a good head and lovely sleepy expression, good length of neck into nice shoulders. Deep in the chest with nice flat ribs. Nice length of body leading into well angulated rear quarters. Moved well at the rear, just a little loose in the front. Well presented and handled.

2 Middlebrook’s Tcheria Tcharleston; Blue dog of good size, nice head with good bite and nice thin ears, deep in chest and good angulation in the rear, moved well, presented well. Not the outline of 1.

PGD.

1 Offer’s Woolytop The Wherryman; Big enough blue dog. Nicely balanced with a good head, thin ears and good bite, long reach of neck and well angulated fore and aft. Chest is deep and flat in rib. Coat of good texture just lacking a bit of colour today. Moved well and nicely presented

2 Kinns’ Kinnuva Dark Sleeker

LD.

1 McCourt’s Bisbee Super Trooper; Blue dog of good size, lovely head with good dark eye, good bite and lovely thin ears. Lovely angulation of shoulders and slope to pasterns, deep in chest. Nicely angulated at the rear. Lovely coat in both colour and texture, tail set well just carried a little high at times. Moved well and with drive. Carrying a little too much coat today making him look a little heavy

OD.

1 Bannister’s Mitymidgets English Dream; Blue dog in excellent coat and colour. Good clean head with good bite, thin ears and clean cheeks. Good reach of neck leading to well angulated shoulders, nice sloping pasterns and good hare feet, deep in chest with lovely length of loin. Well muscled and angulated rear quarters that he used to advantage. Carries his tail a little high, which can, at times, spoil his top line but his correct movement and balance when stood won him the CC today, well presented and handled

2 Davies’ Ch. Honeymist Blue Bols; Blue dog of correct size. Good clean head with correct bite and sleepy expression, lovely thin ears. Long reachy neck leading to well angulated shoulders, nice sloping pasterns. Deep in chest with flat rib, good angulation to the rear. Looked shorter than 1 today and did not have the presence of 1 today. Excellent presentation and well handled

MPB.

1 Lacey’s Bowlingbrook Makingwhoopi; Blue bitch of good size and length of body, good head with correct bite and good thin ears, nicely angulated fore and aft, in good coat and colour and moved well both ways with confidence. BP and well deserved.

2 Phillip’s Rathsrigg Willow; my notes say very similar to one but not the drive or confidence of 1 today, both nice pups.

JB.

1 Cumming’s Rocabec Gossip Girl; Blue bitch that you just can’t ignore, she has a lovely head with a good clean bite, lovely sleepy expression and clean in cheeks, lovely long reachy neck leading to well angulated shoulders, nice slope to pasterns and clean hare feet, deep in chest with good length of loin, well angulated rear quarters and tail set perfect. Lovely balanced bitch that was presented and handled to perfection. Easy CC winner today with BOB and shortlisted for BIS.

2 Bambridge’s Woolytop Bluebell Girl At Beckstone; Blue bitch of good size but cast shorter than 1. Good head, correct bite, well angulated fore and aft. Carrying a little too much coat that made her look a little heavy.

PGB.

1 Pederson’s Janmark Jingle Jangle; Blue bitch of good size, good lean head with correct bite and good thin ears, nice reach of neck and very well angulated shoulders, deep chest with flat rib. Good texture to coat, which was nicely presented. Moved well both ways

2 Fletcher’s Janmark Justfor’ J For Maevani; Very similar to one in make up, just lacked the slope of pastern compared to 1 . Moved well and lovely presentation.

LB.

1 Mayers’ Tcheria She’s Tcheeky; Liver bitch that is well balanced and in excellent coat and colour. Good clean head, good bite and thin ears. Nice reach of neck into well laid shoulders, Chest is deep with flat ribs, good length of loin leading to good rear quarters, tail set well. Good sleepy expression. Moved very well both ways. Good presentation and handling, well deserved RCC

2 Rainsbury’s Jetsway Absolut Ice At Tangris; Blue bitch in excellent coat and colour but not the length of 1. Good head with correct bite and good dark eye, nice reach of neck leading to good shoulders, chest is deep and ribs are flat. Well angulated rear quarters. Presented and handled well

OB.

1 Bannister’s Tcheria Tchaffinch With Mitymidgets; Blue bitch, good clean head with good bite and good thin ears, good length of neck leading to nicely laid shoulders, good slope to pastern and correct hare feet, chest is deep and flat, good length of loin leading to good rear quarters, coat texture and colour was lovely. Not the presence of the main winners in the challenge today.
