BEDLINGTON JUDGE NATIONAL TERRIER 15

Bedlington Terriers

Many thanks to the team at National Terrier for their invitation to judge my breed, in place of my breed colleague Stuart Yearley. My best wishes to him for a good recovery. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality provided by you all & to my very efficient stewards, Jean & Joyce, well done.

Disappointing dog entry at this time of year, but pleased with the bitches. I always try to point out any concerns I have with the breed as honestly as possible. No problems with ‘feet’. I did not find anything to be concerned about. Not happy with the tail carriage of many exhibits. High tails spoil the outline of the breed, especially on the move. Differences in height & length, together with the lack of true movement are becoming a concern & coat quality needs to be addressed. Please try to find a solution to these problems.

MPD (1)

1 Worralls’ Bluesmurf Semper Fidelis, promising blue baby. Still very immature. Nice blue coat. Typy head, thin ears, dark eyes, good clean bite. Lengthy neck into fine shoulders. Needs to body up at present. Good legs & smooth clean feet. Rather erratic movement & tail carriage quite high. Look forward to his progress in future.

PD (3,1a)

1 Butlers’ Yarbach Federers’ Final, dark blue textured coat. Good head & furnishings. Clean bite. Strong neck into good slope of shoulders. Typical forehand & width of chest. Well muscled for 9 months old. Good legs, feet & smooth pads. Plenty of drive on the move. Nicely presented;

2 Thompsons’ Jetsway Bollinger, 11 months old with a dark blue coat. Correct head, eyes & ears. Good length of neck into flat shoulders. Nice forehand & hindquarters. Good topline & tuck-up. Smooth clean feet. Movement not as positive as 1st. Well presented.

JD (1)

1 Thompsons’ Jetsway Bollinger; 2nd in PD.

PGD (0).

LD (1)

1 Pedersens’ Sharnor High Intensity, handsome well coated blue. Typical conformation throughout. Correct head. Dark eyes. Thin filbert ears. Good width of chest & correct forehand. Well boned legs. Snaky topline & well tucked up at loin. Deep brisket & flat sides. Well turned stifles & firm hocks. Clean hare feet & smooth pads. Moved very well with drive & purpose. Good tail carriage. Well presented turn out. Pleased to award him RCC.

OD (4,1)

1 Jones’ Pengerrig Unique, lathy & fit. Dark blue coat of texture & substance. Toned muscle throughout. Shapely head with correct ears, dark eyes & clean bite. Reachy length of neck into fine slope of shoulders. Correct topline with deep brisket & arch over loin. Well boned legs with good forehand, slope of pasterns & firm hindquarters. Clean hare feet with smooth pads. Driving workmanlike movement. Turn out very well. My pleasure to award him the CC & BOB;

2 Davies’ Ch Bla Skuggans Jack In The Box at Honeymist, liver of good colour, but coat was too soft & too much. Not as well muscled as 1st. Lovely head. Amber eyes & correct ears. Good clean bite. Lengthy neck & well placed shoulders. Good topline, tuck-up & deep brisket. Nicely boned legs, sloping pasterns & turn of stifles. Clean hare feet & pads. Gaited well on the move. Good tail carriage. Nicely presented;
