BEDLINGTON JUDGE MIDLAND COUNTIES 10

Bedlington Terrier

Firstly I must apologise for being late, extraordinarily heavy traffic around Manchester and a subsequent road closure causing a major divertion, were the causes. My thanks go the the Officers & Committee for inviting me to judge our wonderful breed. The ring was a good size and the lighting excellent, I was supported by two excellent stewards, whom I thank for their contributions. To the exhibits, in general terms, all the features of the heads were good, some teeth in the mature dogs were in need of a clean and showed some dicolouration, eyes were as it states in the new standard. I was concerned that the placing of the shoulder blades were all over, far too many were too far forward & it showed in their movement. Feet were generally good, with no sign of any cracking, although some of the pads could have been tighter. Size did vary and was a deciding factor in some of my placings.

PD, (3,1)

1 Ames’ Sharnor Faithful Falcon, at 9 months coming along nicely, good head, with excellent mouth & bite, well placed shoulders and correctly proportioned, moved well BPD

2 Thompson’s Gnejnabay New Beginnings 1 month older than the winner, large head, very good mouth, good neck, but shoulder placement showed in his movement. Straight hocks.

JD (1),

1 Jones’ Pengerrig Unique, just 12 months, in excellent coat, good mouth with correct bite, well proportioned, good rear anguletion & straight hocks, shoulder placement and slightly loose front movement affected his overall gait.

PGD (2).

1 Hall’s Palm of the Desert, Blue, correct size moved well in spite of the white lines on the concrete, good topline, well proportioned, shoulders and roach correct.

2nd. Hyde’s Gnejnabay Chokko Pops, Liver, coat in very good condition, lost out on size & movement his front was affected by his narrow front and shoulder placement.

LD (5,2).

1 Owen’s Bisbee Beachcomber, Blue. Good head with large strong teeth & correct scissor bite, tapered jaw, lovely clear eyes. Well placed neck out of good shoulders. Correct proportions and angulation, moved well with confidence, just missed out on top honours today.

2 Walters & Mitchell’s Rathsrigg Millrace, Blue, smaller head than 1, good topline, well angulated, moved well but seemed a little jaded, similar size to 1.

3 Davies’ Honeymist Buglecall Rag.

OD (7,2).

1 Kiernan & Liu’s Ch Bisbee Boy Wonder, Blue, Presentation was superb, showing the qualities this dog posesses. Difficult to comment on when all you see and feel is a pleasure. All aspects of the breed standard are there, as an example, the breed is fortunate that quality is still present. Head, neck, shoulders, topline, roach & angulation are correct. Movement excellent good straight hocks, DCC & BOB.

2 Walshaw’s Ch Janmark Blue Encounter JW Sh CM, Blue Dog, Top quality dog, vied for top spot, difficult decision as both these are excellent examples of the breed, correct size, proportions also meets the standard with no extremes. DRCC.

3 Phillips’ Rathsrigg Ask Im.
