BEDLINGTON LEEDS 11 Judge: Mr Albert Wight BEDLINGTON JUDGE LEEDS 11 Bedlington Terriers PD (2) 1 BP, Garbutt’s Highdene Hitman at Aireview, very promising youngster indeed. Loved his size, stacked he impresses with a smooth outline, all the curves in the right places & such a good reach of neck. Head is balanced with decent length of muzzle, fine ears & dark, well shaped eyes, ribs reach the elbow, has that gentle arch over the loin to very good hindquarters which have sufficient angulation & enough angle at the hock. Coat soft in texture & he was a delight to watch circling the ring with that light, even stepping stride. Could go on to much better things; 2 Hamilton’s Monlazuli Life Of Riley, size larger at the withers & much less advanced in body. Nice head, very good eyes & ears, enough neck, good head carriage, pleasing backline. A little narrow in chest but good legs & feet. I felt 1 had that fraction better hock angle. This chap moved out well as he went around the ring & he was well presented. JD & PGD (0). LD (5) 1 Cumming’s Rocabec Definitely Maybe, light blue dog who was so beautifully bodied, coated & presented, loved his size, delightful head, lean in skull, no stop, powerful muzzle with decent nose & chin, eyes are dark & expressive & the ears almost hug his clean cheeks, has enough length of neck, his head carriage is so appealing & has good strength in hindquarters. His light, free & purposeful side action helped him win this class. Royally bred he looks a real prospect; 2 Neville’s Abben Blue Buttons at Chancete, such a well bodied & muscled dog of lovely size. Delightful head, eyes so dark & are a good shape, long neck, good topline & tuck up. I felt he did not quite have the fluency in side action of Maybe which swung the scales. A credit in presentation; 3 Baldwin’s Wooolytop Another Star. OD (8) 1 CC, Walshaw’s Ch Janmark Blue Encounter, really smart blue dog in fine form & in impeccable condition both in body & coat, so well proportioned, the ribs have depth, his front is lovely & his action is so true & positive, sufficient angulation in hindquarters, really well muscled, stands on excellent feet & shows an easy, light side gait, head is so good, all male, lean with depth, long muzzle & what a set of gnashers! I’m sure has many more good wins to come; 2 RCC, Davies’ Blu Skuggans Jack In The Box, perhaps a shade heavier all through than 1 but I just love his shape & his really good action. Head is a delight, strong foreface, excellent mouth, reachy neck & so well ribbed. Lovely tuck up, loin rise leads to amply angulated hindquarters, well set & carried tail, flawless presentation; 3 Davies’ Ch Honeymist Miles High. PB (4) 1 Hurley’s Fralex Calibre Pharos, very smart young bitch, so feminine in outlook, beautifully proportioned, enough reach of neck which is well held, really well ribbed, good forechest, excellent backline & loin, ample let down in hock, pleased me in profile action with that even stepping stride. Unlucky to meet such a smart dog for BP; 2 Lacey’s Bowlingbrook Trick Or Treat, thought this dark blue has lots of potential, stacked she impresses with that long neck, well defined withers, that slow rise over the loin to a smooth well moulded croup & tailset, head handles well. Perhaps eye could be that tad smaller but it is dark. Just needs to steady a bit in front. Well presented; 3 Hamilton’s Monlazuli Truly Magic. JB (3) 1 Hoaksey’s Nebercrackers Rainbow Inca, see is one of several off-spring I liked sired by the DCC winner. I thought her a charmer, definitely my cup of tea in shape, nothing exaggerated but on the stack she is so eyecatching using that good neck to advantage, head is a joy, punishing jaws, big teeth, no stop & amply deep, her presentation was spot on & she moved out soundly. I believe being handled by someone other than her own, & he did a marvellous job; 2 McNally’s Aireview Crystal Blue, another excellent exhibit from this handler. Again the size, shape & proportions are so good. Head perhaps not quite the foreface length of 1 but it is narrow with sufficient depth. Her presentation was exemplary, the coat texture soft, good neck & sufficient let down in hock. Smooth striding action on a loose lead was impressive; 3 Hewitt-Taylor’s Tobanie Earth Song. PGB (2) 1 Oxbury & Turner’s Rubsters Piper at Jukeblu, blue, up to size, lovely reach of neck, long head, eyes could be darker, excellent jaws & teeth, well ribbed with good pads, & feet. Side action is pleasing but her hocks need to strengthen. LB (5) Headed by two sisters who have Ch Blue Encounter as their sire. 1 Ames’ Sharnor Emerald Electra, top quality bitch of tremendous style & so shapely whether on the stack or moving, loved her head, eyes & expression, neat ears, scores in length of neck & head carriage, so well bodied, in such good coat, not over furnished but more than enough & she moved out so well; 2 Fraser & Butler’s Sharmor Emerald Ice via Ycart, so many of 1’s remarks apply to her, clearly out of the same mould, oozes quality in all respects, in stunning condition & spotless in jacket. Only lost out to her sister as I felt Electra came towards me the truer of the pair. She has bags of style; 3 Davies’ Honeymist Midnight Star. OB (7) 1 CC & BOB, Yearley’s Ch Gnejnabay Genegenie Gal at Lowbrook, have admired her since I first saw her in a group, recently awarded her a ch stakes class & here found nothing to make me change my mind. She is certainly lithe & graceful, her outline I love, head handles so well & she seems to move as though automated, the footfall is so even & purposeful. In lovely coat condition she did everything asked of her & even against a very handsome dog, her lengthy neck & head carriage won the day for BOB. I was told as I was leaving the showground early (to find a Kwikfit garage for a tyre repair!) that this win makes her the joint BCC record holder. What an achievement; 2 RCC, Hurley’s Ch Fralex Calibre Saphire, this totally feminine package has style in spades & is so shapely that she cannot be ignored. A size larger all through than Gal but still classy. Excels in head, reach of neck, rib depth & that stunning back & croup line, beautifully presented & moved out with a light, free stride. A most worthy title holder; 3 Davies’ Honeymist Crazy Rhythm. ALBERT WIGHT |
