It was a privilege to be able to judge Bedlington Terriers at Crufts, an honour I will never forget. I thank the exhibitors for their entries and the sporting way that all took my decisions. The breed has changed greatly from when I began showing, with many ‘types’ now in the ring, which do vary immensely. On the day I was looking for a sound exhibit, with balance, put down in good condition, sporting a thick linty coat and importantly moving in a typical Bedlington style, cleanly fore and aft and keeping a correct topline in profile. I also attempted to score exhibits highly who had the key breed points that make this terrier unique. These been, a horseshoe front, clean in head with fine filbert ears, arch over loin, moderate rear angulation and correct front and rear action, with a mincing gait. Unfortunately in many classes, a lot were missing and decisions had to be made. I'm sure on another day, these places could change easily, coats change through the season and movement can be totally different on grass, some are also not at ease and nervous of the Crufts environment. It should be noted that I found no cracked pads and in general dentition was good. I will take this opportunity to wish everyone the best of luck for the forthcoming show season.

1ST 4364 - Jobanker Rocky Road (Mrs Ad Poultney) liver dog, a little bit heavier in head but he had a good eye, strong dentition and ears of a good size. He had ample neck, that ran into clean shoulders. He had plenty of bone, a good depth of brisket and presented a nice top line, with a well set tsil. He could have a stronger rear but was really well muscled. clean pads. Sporting a correct, colourful jacket. Moved steadily.
2ND 4365 - Ratswell Bring Me Sunshine (Mrs Ad Poultney) second was another stronger dog, a blue. He was clean in head, with a dark eye and correct ears. he presented a clean top line, with a tidy tailset. He was well off for bone. Clean through ribs, a good underline and adequate rear angulation. A little heavy today but presented in good condition. Moved steadily.

1ST 4363 - Fairy-Tale Falco Bohemia Opus Aut/sk/cze Jch (Ms M. Pobudová). A mature upto size male, he really pleased in head, of good length, clean, dark eye and thin leathers. Clean through neck and shoulders. top line was a little overdone and I would have preferred less jacket left on top. He was rather up on leg, which spoiled the balance, however he had a good depth, really good bone, nice angulation at the rear, tail set, and it was a clean rise over the loin on the move. He was really flowing on the move, which won him the class. Presented in good jacket and very well presented.
2ND 4320 - Rhicullen Blue Knight (Mr N & Mrs N A Jackson) A more typical Bedlington, not presented as well as 1, however was sporting a correct jacket, with good coat and colour coming through. This young fellar was very pleasing in head, typical, good eye, thin ears of the correct size. Liked his height and his length to height ratio. He has a well made front assembly, good depth of brisket and a topline that is not exagarated, with a clean tailse. ample bone and correct hares feet. He just tended to flatten a bit in top line both on the move and when stacked. he's only 12 months old so was giving quite a bit away to the winner and this showed on the move.

1ST 4367 - Mickleview Harvest Moon (Mrs E & Mr W Scott) this young man, is long on the leg and well upto size, however, he scored highly on breed type, which won him this class. I loved his head long and lean, masculine but not over done. nice clean ears and dark eye. very good pigmentation, correct horse shoe front, he has a good depth, correct top line, with a clean croup and tailset and the correct moderate rear angulation. jacket was dark in good condition and presented well, but was a little harsh today. He was put down in excellent hard condition and covered the ground well with a typical gait.
2ND
4370 - Silverkinn French Fancy (Mrs K Stevenson) another who was upto a strong dog with a lot to like about him. He was steady away on the move, keeping a good topline.
2ND 4348 - Bisbee Bulldozer with Tessarion (Mrs J & Mr R Lowe) I would just like a little bit more of this young man, both in build and body and he's missing a bit of ooomph. , he's very typical and pleasing to go over, ticking many bixes. he' got a pleasing head, clean with thin nicely sized ears and dark eye. Clean front, tidy croup area and tail set and stood on clean hares feet. Could be stronger in rear assembly and would like him a an inch or two longer in back. He was sporting his best jacket today. 1ST 4372 - Ch/Ir Ch Fioralainn Written in The Stars with Sharnor (Mrs S & Mrs C Teare & O'prey). DCC & BOB ,this blue was presented to perfection and caught the eye immediately, both stacked and on the move. He ticked many boxes for me. He was lovely for type, pleasing to go over, flowing from nose to tail. Typical head, masculine, but not coarse, dark eye, very good dentition, ears ok. Liked his neck placement and front assembly.
