BEDLINGTON CRUFTS 14 Bedlington Terrier Judge(s): MR R GARBUTT
Bedlington Terriers I was very satisfied with my overall winners, a good selection of breed type with some very good dogs losing out today. Found feet in good order but I was surprised to see 1 or 2 suspect mouths but overall the quality & size is improving. VD (3) 1 Davies’ Ch/Bel Ch Honeymist Sunny, liver 10 years old in good order for age, good dense coat, nice layback of shoulder, good depth of rib, well tucked up with nice bend of stifle, moved out well. BV; 2 Baldwin’s Woolytop Iwan Super Wizard, on a similar lines to the first, longer bodied but did not move as well as the winner, but still in good order for his age; 3 Button’s Harrisclub Flash Harry, not in the same condition as the first two but nice to see veterans being shown & enjoying a day out. PD (4) 1 Wiggan’s Gnarklem Blue Eyed Boy at Lodhainn, nice head, well off for bone, up to size but with good layback of shoulders with correct depth of chest, kept topline on move; 2 Bouse’s Summer Warrior, strong headed dog with correct bite, small dark eye, lovely ears, good length of neck, longer bodied than 1 & not the movement of one; 3 McAllister’s Nebercrackers Blue Diamond, nice shape & coat but would preferred better movement & more foreface. JD (1) 1 Rainsbury & Hamilton’s Jetsway Chaser, good promising youngster which I have seen before, in very good coat with correct furnishings. With good head & strong foreface, lovely dark eye & correct bite, good ears. Everything to like about this 1 just needs to settle down some then the top honours will come. RCC. PGD (3) 1 Morris’ Honeymist Mellow Tone in Bluemazzu, nice shape & size but longer than I would have liked, with good dense coat, moved soundly, stood on good hare feet with correct tail carriage which is lacking in many, very nice to go over, a worthy winner; 2 Honey’s Burbeach Sunlight, smaller dog all round than first & I would have preferred more bone & better movement proud of his tail but a nice shape with blue coat, nice eye & expression; 3 Smith’s Vakurblue Eggie Bread, nice shape but needs to body up then movement might improve. LD (5) 1 Richardson’s Highdene Howztha, nice size & shape with good length of head with plenty of foreface, correct bite, lovely dark eye. Good length of neck leading into correct shoulders, nice rise over the loin, correct bend of stifle with lovely tail carriage. Just needs to body up then would be a contender; 2 Davies’s Honeymist Sunny Delight, a lot to like about this dog, good strong head with correct bite, nice shape & angulation, correct size with good dense liver coat but lacking in colour, somewhat lost out on movement today; 3 Scorah & Wiles’ Isotops Bumblebee from Rivendown, nice dog with good head, correct bite, nice eye but longer bodied & not as racy as the first two, tends to flatten out on the move. OD (11) 1 Walters & Mitchell’s Ch Rathsrigg Millrace, I have given this dog top honours before & he didn’t disappoint this time either. He is full of breed type with good strong head with correct bite, nice dark eye with lovely earset. Strides out with purpose, in excellent coat & condition with plenty of bone, correct bend of stifle with well let down hocks & good clean hare feet. CC; 2 Walshaw’s Ch Janmark Blue Encounter, worthy champion with correct movement coming & going, good strong head with correct bite & dark eye, good tail carriage, just not the coat & condition of 1 today; 3 Kiernan & Liu’s Ch Bisbee Ikatcher at Kierlander, another worthy champion, in good order, just not the movement of the other 2, too proud of his tail but a lot to like about him. GCD (2) 1 B Sunlight; 2 McCourt’s Burmington Hush A Bye, liver dog, needs to body up a little & I would preferred a better tail carriage longer bodied than first which made him lose shape on the move. VB (9,4) 1 Phillips’ Ch Rathsrigg April Rose, a quality bitch of 8 years old, had to yield to the youngsters today for top honours. Lovely size & shape, everything in proportion with excellent coat as always from this kennels; 2 Owen’s Ch Bisbee Benvenuto, another worthy champion but taller & longer bodied than first, in good coat but I preferred the size & shape of 1; 3 Bannister’s Ch Mollora Enchantment with Miteymidgets, another quality veteran but more of her all round than first two places just my preference on the day. PB (3) 1 Breeze’s Firey Sharrona Violet, lot to like about this youngster, lovely shape & size, good length to height with good head & bite, correct bend of stifle, moved with purpose on good feet & in good coat. BP; 2 Morris’ Bluemazzu Ballerina, nice liver bitch, larger all round than first with good head, bite & eye with good dense coat, lost out as movement a bit erratic; 3 Fetcher & Lawson’s Maevani To The Moon And Back, nice compact bitch, would have preferred more body & substance & rear angulation. JB (2) 1 Beesley’s Lowbrook Little China Girl at Flintstor, nice feminine liver bitch, would prefer a little more of her but all in proportion with nice head, eyes & ears, she has everything going for her, movement OK; 2 Button’s Jetsway Chardonnay, young bitch in good coat, a longer neck would have enhanced the profile, preferred the movement of first. PGB (12,3) 1 Davies’ Honeymist Posh Dreamz, bitch with nice shape when allowed to stand free, she is lovely to go over, less hair would enhance appearance, of good size, lovely head with good bite, correct lay of shoulders with depth of rib, correct tail carriage, movement true coming & going; 2 Pocklington’s Nebercrackers Rosie Blue, another blue of the right size all in proportion, another day could have swapped places with first, lovely feminine expression, correct tail carriage, a lot to like about her; 3 Lawrie’s Miteymidgets Endless Love, I was spoilt for choice in this class, another lovely bitch of correct size with a super head & bite, lovely dark eye, coat with good texture & colour, nice horse shoe from this youngster gets her charge moving to perfection. Both dog & handler are ones for the future. LB (14) 1 Walters & Mitchell’s Tunman Topsy Turvy, a lovely bitch in prefect order, nice size, very feminine, head dark eye, good bite lovely fine ears. With cracking front, good neck in to correct shoulders, good depth of rib, tail carriage, correct moved soundly both coming & going; 2 Lacey’s Bowlingbrook Trick Or Treat, similar type of bitch but shorter bodied & I would have preferred more angulation but many of comments of winner apply, lovely wedge shaped head with correct bite, another one who moves with purpose; 3 Richardson’s Highdene Hetti, I like this bitch very much, she is sound but needs to body up then she would be up with the best of them. OB (13,5) 1 Richardson’s Ch Highdene High Society, not a flashy bitch but you get what you see all in propulsion on the day she was the one that caught my eye. You need your hands on to see the quality she has, correct shape when she is allowed to stand, naturally good depth of rib & correct angulation & tail carriage when on the move she demands attention. CC & BOB; 2 Pykhtar’s Rus/Fin/Mo/Ukr/Blr/Lh/Ch L’end Show Morgana Fairy Dream, this bitch has many qualities, supper head good bite & eye. Handled & groomed to perfection, well worthy of her many international wins, did consider her for top honours, unlucky to come up against the winner. RCC; 3 Walshaw’s Ch Janmark Misty Horizons, another worthy champion, one of my favourites from the ringside but just not in the best of coat which let her down but she did nothing wrong. Lovely feminine head, good depth of rib, sound all through, moved true both ways. GCB (6) 1 Bannister’s Ch Miteymidgets Hawkers Cove, lovely bitch all in proportion, a worthy champion, trimmed to perfection, lovely head with strong muzzle & dark eye, just a little too much of her for me; 2 Hewitt-Taylor’s Tobanie Earth Song, nice size, all in proportion, coat with colour & texture, smaller than 1 but not the movement of 1 but a nice bitch all the same; 3 Pocklington’s Nebercrackers Rosie Blue.
