BEDLINGTON CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 14 Judge: Mr B Reeves BEST OF BREED : 4591 WALSHAW Mr & Mrs M & J Janmark Jkay BEDLINGTON JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 14 Bedlington Terriers A small quality entry without CCs, for judge elect, Mr Reeves, who unfortunately at very short notice, had to stand down, due to a minor accident, hopefully now back to full recovery. I thank the sporting exhibitors for accepting me as replacement, at such short notice. I made a point of refreshing myself with the up-to-date KC Standard, which is always available in Secretary’s office. Always a joy to judge, what I term one of our unspoilt breeds for the Bedlington is one that history has hardly changed. Excellent quality, temperaments first class. Correct mouths with strong large teeth. The main problems seems to be movement, & few were really true coming & going. I am sure, quite often, an improvement can be made with good firm, steady road work. Something one finds today, in so many dogs, although well presented, quite often, are in soft condition, lacking muscle! VD & PD (0). JD (1) 1 BD, Harris’ Ratzwell D’Artagan, well balanced. Good front with correct feet. Moving well behind & looking good in profile. PGD (0). OD (3) 1 RBD, Ames’ Ch Sharnor Faithful Falcon, pleasure to judge these two Champions. On the day I liked the good topline of first, looking in good in profile; 2 Owen’s Ch Bisbee Beachcomber, bigger in build, but the type & quality all there; 3 Brady & Carter’s Tcheria Shenanigans. GCD (0). VB (0). PB (3) 1 BB & BOB, Walshaw’s Janmark Jkay, looked the part from the start. Grand type & quality, moving with assurance, correct topline. Has time to firm in front action, & should go to the top; 2 Hurley’s Fralex Culibre Amber, close up here, moving freely & collected, not so forward as winner; 3 Owen’s Bisbee Rising Star. JB (2) 1 Hurley’s L’end Show Melissa Blu Flower at Fralex, real baby at 7 months, but is a classy youngster with time to finish well. Type, balance & outline all there; 2 Ames’ Sharnor High Hopes, shouts quality, but could have shown more animation on the move. PGB (2) 1 J Jkay; 2 Beesley’s Lowbrook Little China Girl at Flintstor, not the topline of above, but lovely head & eye. OB (3) 1 RBB, Yearley’s Ch Gnejnabay Genegenie Gal at Lowbrook, the best mover of the day. The great quality, correct make & shape, is so obvious, but felt her coat was no quite in best show bloom. I understand not long off a litter, this probably accounts for not being in best ‘bib & tucker’ show form; 2 Harris’ Ratzwell Dolly Mixture, good example of the breed, for type & quality, not using tail to best advantage, & could have moved out more.
