BEDLINGTON BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 24

Firstly, a big thankyou to my stewards for doing a great job. Delighted to find some exhibits of good type today. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, a number did not move as well as I know they can, from judging them on previous occasions, so I could not place them as highly as I would have expected. I was a little disappointed generally in the size of teeth. The Bedlington has always been noted for having extraordinarily large teeth, but that wasn’t the case today with the majority. Too many also had dirty teeth.

MPD (1)

1 Ross’s Mactufts Gentleman’s Game, 7 month blue of correct type with a good balance of size and substance, good head with enough strength of jaw, correct topline, legs of moderate length, excellent colour, moved soundly enough for age but just needs to tighten up a little. Should be a force to be reckoned with once fully mature.

PD (1)

1 McNally’s Conekesheved Out Of The Blue, 11 month, racily built blue with good reach of neck, long powerful head and good topline. Moved soundly enough. Up to size but not likely to grow much more, if at all, and maturity will hopefully help to make him look a little less leggy in time. BPIB.

JD (3,1)

1 Jones’s, Squidlyannes Pirate King, 14 month blue, still very immature for age, looks like a puppy and needs to body up a little. In excellent jacket with good depth of colour. Perfect size with balanced conformation, having the correct length of body in relation to height and moderate length of leg. Another who will be a force to be reckoned with in future.

2 Conekesheved Out Of The Blue.

PGD (2)

1 Blakey’s Little Bristle Charmer, 1 year 10 month blue with good bone. Immature for his age, so forgave him being a touch loose in front action. Excellent hindquarters, correct topline.

2 Crump’s Yarbach Bowling Broad, 1 year 8 month blue of correct size with a good head and nice general conformation. Preferred topline and substance of the winner.

LD (1)

1 Poultney’s Jobanker Rocky Road, 3 year 8 month liver, up to size but with good bone and impressive head.

OD (7,1)

1 Godden’s Ozbreeze Surprise Of The Day At Vakurblue, 3 year 10 month blue of good size and substance, with correct length of body in ratio to height, good length of head and foreface, nice reach of neck, excellent shoulder placement and dense jacket. Moved soundly and with purpose, looking particularly smart today. DCC & BOB.

2 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Modern Love JW, 2 year 6 months blue with good length of head and excellent reach of neck, correct length of body in ratio to height, correct topline, not in his best jacket today RDCC.

3 Jackson’s Woolytop The Marshman At Padztar.

VD (1)

1 Ross’s Major Tufts At Mactufts, 7 year 7 month blue of good type with excellent substance and size, correct topline over loin. Moved with drive. Dark jacket. BVIB.

SBB (3)

1 Chester’s Squidylannes Dreamer, 14 month blue in superb hard condition, very well muscled with good bone. Correct length of body in ratio to height, correct topline, good length of head and reach of neck, moved soundly. Best Special Beginner.

2 Long’s Dunkeswell Pepper Dash, 14 month blue with good reach of neck and head of good length. Preferred topline and movement of winner.

3 Jackson’s Terrablue Spirit.

PB (1)

1 Jackson’s Terrablue Spirit, 10 month blue. Very much a baby in some ways and inexperienced in the show ring but with great potential. Excellent substance in ratio to size, correct topline and well muscled for age.

JB (7)

1 Chester’s Squidylannes Dreamer

2 Fraser & Butler’s Worth Waiting For From Ycart, 1 year 4 month blue of correct size with good bone. Balanced head, decent jacket of good colour, moved soundly.

3 Hanes’s Janmark The Name Of The Game.

PGB (5)

1 Ross’s Mactufts Kindred Spirit, 4 year old blue with good substance in ratio to her size, balanced head and proportionate reach of neck, correct topline. Moved soundly both ways.

2 Long’s Dunkeswell Pebble Run, 3 year old blue of correct size and substance, moved okay, although a little close behind at times. Preferred topline of the winner.

3 Hurley’s Fralex Culibre Quintella.

LB (5,2)

1 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Twenty Twenty, 3 year 10 month blue of correct size and type with good substance, beautifully balanced throughout with the correct height to length ratio, balanced head, correct topline, moved soundly and with drive, excellent dark pigment and jacket colour. BCC.

2 Scott’s Janmark Je Ne Sais Pas Avec Mickleview JW, 2 year 5 month blue, with excellent length of head and good reach of neck. Moved soundly enough but a shade close behind. Preferred topline of the winner.

3 Ross’s Mactufts Nanny Mcphee.

OB (4)

1 Jones’s Ch Miteymidgets Little Hottie At Squidlyannes, 5 year old blue, balanced throughout, correct topline, good head, moved soundly and has a jacket of good colour and texture. RBCC.

2 Bannister’s Miteymidgets New Variant, 3 year old blue of good size and substance with perfect topline, excellent reach of neck and dark jacket. Preferred hind action of winner today.

3 Fletcher’s Maevani Bella Trix Lstrange.

VB (2,1)

1 Baldwin’s Woolyop Lavender Girl, 7 year 5 month blue, well balanced overall with good size and substance. When it came to the challenge for Best Veteran I preferred the movement of the dog winner.
