BEDLINGTON JUDGE BIRMINGHAM NATIONAL 23

My first time judging Bedlington Terriers at championship level, many thanks to the committee for inviting me and many thanks to the exhibitors who entered their dogs. My overall impression was very positive and the overall quality and presentation was in very good order, coats and teeth very clean.

1st: LACEY, Miss J W : BOWLINGBROOK HUMMINGBIRD – Just 8 ½ months and getting up to size, a good overall outline for one so young, head narrow with good depth, , would like his neck a touch longer, topline and tail set both carried well on the move, moved well in front just a touch close going away.

1st: GILLIES, Mrs J : Travellerways Finlay – He was being a little awkward today, Liked his head shape, and ear set, has strong white teeth and perfect dentition, enough length of neck into well laid shoulders, good topline, chest of good shape but needs to drop some more, moved quite steadily for a puppy. Best puppy

1st: MARTIN, Miss Lorraine : Honeymist Firecracker - A very showy youngster, very well presented and in good coat, his sandy colour may be a touch light but overall he looked really well. Super head, narrow and of good depth, relatively small eye of good shape and colour, liked his ear placement, very good length of neck into well angulated shoulders, good topline with the correct rise over the loin, quite deep chest and complementing tuck up, would prefer just a touch more rear angulation.

2nd: BANNISTER, Mrs Y : Miteymidgets Modern Love – Good for size and conformation, in good coat and lovely blue colour, good head shape, dark eye, super front of correct shape looking from front, has good depth of chest, broad and flat ribbed, liked his topline and tailset, he was a bit lethargic on the move and holding his head down.

PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: FLETCHER, Mrs Jayne : Maevani Aladdin Sane - Quite impressive, mature and masculine, good for size, lovely head shape, strong jaw and big nose, good length of neck into well angulated shoulders, good depth to chest with good tuck up, one of the better rear movements today.

1st: SCOTT, Mrs EMMA & SCOTT, Mr William : Ch L'End Show Melody Maker (IMP RUS) – A quality dog out of the top drawer and a real eye catcher. Put down to the minute, he is well up to size but balanced throughout, has a super head narrow with good depth, eye of good colour and shape, excellent dentition, good length of neck into well placed sholulders, correct shaped front when looking from front, good topline with the correct rise over the loin which was held firm on the move, moving positively and covering the ground, was pleased to award him the CC.

2nd: OFFER, Mrs A C : Ch Woolytop The Viking – Quite a close call on these two, he’s another class male on fine form and in excellent coat and condition, excellent head and eye, ears thin and well positioned, didn’t quite have the length of neck of 1, has a deep chest and flat sides, very good topline which was held on the move, Res CC

3rd: JACKSON, Mr Robert & JACKSON, Mrs Amy : Woolytop the Saxon at Padztar

Res: OXBURY, Miss Julie & TONNER, Mr Kenneth : Tunman full throttle at Jukenblu

VHC: GILLIES, Mrs J : Ch Rhicullen Rennie Mac

1st: SPILSBURY, Mr Philip Mark & SPILSBURY, Mrs April : Nesta Blur Lagoon (AY4) – A touch raw and still needs to mature, has a well shaped head, lovely dark well shaped eye, has a decent length of neck, shoulders and topline ok, would prefer a touch more turn of stifle, needs to settle in movement.

JB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: SCOTT, Mrs EMMA & SCOTT, Mr William : Janmark Je Ne Sais Pas avec Mickleview – I think she might be the one to watch out for, coat and furnishings needs to come on some more to finish the picture, super head shape, narrow with enough depth, liked her eye shape and colour, excellent mouth, well set and thin ears, lovely neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good topline and rise over the loin, deep chest, and complementing tuck up, she floated round the ring and was pushing the CC winner, just needs a bit more maturity and coat. Res CC

PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: LACEY, Miss J W : BOWLINGBROOK TUMBLEYWEED - Fitting the standard quite well in all departments, liked her head and has a super eye, very good mouth, has a lovely natural stance and horse shoe front, well balanced throughout, moved steadily, needs more furnishings to complete the picture.

LB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: MARTIN, Miss Lorraine : Honeymist Crazy Dreamz – A really well put together bitch, good for size and outline, lovely head, good eye shape and colour, enough length of neck and well laid shoulders, good depth and width of chest, topline held on the move, she just needs a touch more confidence.
2nd: PORTER-MANNING, Mrs Angela & PORTER, Mr G : Woolytop Secret Wispa among Wallaroo JW – Pushing 1 hard in this class, also good for size, has a lovely outline with nothing over done, in good condition, had one of the best turn of stifle today.

OB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: MCNALLY, Mr & Mrs John & Lesley : Ch Conekesheved Too Shy JW – Quite the star of the show today, I judged her as a very young puppy and saw something very special, she is outstanding to go over, super head shape, good length and depth, well shaped dark eye, has a good length of neck, excellent shoulder placement, flat ribbed and good depth of chest, correct rise over the loin, lovely tailset and moves with ease, she really stood out in the crowd today, pleased to award her the CC and BOB, she went on to win the Terrier group and RBIS. Congratulations.,

2nd: BALDWIN, Ms Sheila & BALDWIN, Mr Mark : Woolytop Leading Lady – Very good for size and presented in excellent coat and condition, lovely head and eye, presents a lovely outline when stood in profile, good topline and tailset, very good rear angulation, handler should drop the lead a touch as it lifted her front at times on the move.

3rd: PHILLIPS, Mrs M H & Lt Col I J Helen : Rathsrigg Willow – Another lovely bitch, and difficult decision in this class, she wasn’t quite in her best coat today.

VB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HANES, Miss Myla Mae : Ch JANMARK JKAY JW Sh.CM VW – What a lovely bitch to go over, nothing exaggerated, excellent for size, presents a super outline, she just flows, good in front, lovely head shape, small well shaped eye, good neck and shoulder placement, enough depth of chest, moved around the ring like a youngster. BV

2nd: OXBURY, Miss Julie & TONNER, Mr Kenneth : Miteymidgets nations unite at jukenblu Sh.CM VW – She belies her age, presented in lovely condition, good coat and colour, not quite the length of neck as 1, flowing outline and good tail set, moved really well.
